Damn. I own all of these books, finished 3 of them (atomic habits, deep work and how to win friends and influence people) without taking action on any of them. Instead I fell into that trap and just ordered more books I mindlessly read without applying. Guess I gotta go back and start with the basics again
Amazing man. Although I have all four mentioned. I'd like to say I only applied Dale Carnegie's teachings. Then another book's teachings I used alot is... "Can't Hurt Me" by David Goggins. I'll read the others. Millionaire fastlane... Finance books are something else.
Nice, and yeah Finance books are 99% stuff you can find on Google. But this one I like because it's more concept and reality based. A lot of valuable info you won't really see elsewhere. It's also a reality check that most people need.
Yes exactly. I think telling people how many books we have read is bragging rights, but doesn't do anything. I personally haven't even read 30 books In my entire life but it suits my lifestyle quite well.
I've been looking for books to read/listen to And I struggle the most with application I'm also trying to learn a lot things like you, trading forex, Japanese, guitar, making music, making UA-cam videos and building muscle and staying fit Just the channel I needed honestly I also read HTWF&IP, and listened to the others except Millionaire Fastlane but also didn't implement How To Win Friends is the hardest to implement for me, and I've known I don't do what they say I'll try to follow through now
Hey awesome! Glad you found this channel then. Yeah resources are great but the magic happens when we make an effort to out it into practice 👌. Even I have to take my own advice everyday Lol
I'm reading how to make friends and influence people. My biggest complaint is the book could be half as long if the examples were shorter or there was far less of them. (I understand this may be a product of its time.) Also as far as I'm picking up from it the main point is basically " the customer is always right" as in give other people what they want so they'll give you what you want, and genuinely care and be interested in people. The issues I have with this are, what if your kindness and caring aren't reciprocated after sincerely trying. What if someone takes advantage of knowing the fact you are this caring person, and simply put what if despite following the book you people aren't convinced or influenced by your position. I feel as though times are different now than when the book was written and people seem far less charitable, trusting, or polite. Many aren't operating on the same moral and civil standard as those times.
It has good takeaways but yeah in general with any book, take what you find use in and kind of discard the rest. Discerning what works in your world and what doesn't is the best approach. But yeah a lot of books in general just have a lot of rambling going on.
@vaughngene I give it a pass because of the time it was written in but I definitely feel like it could have been condensed to about half the size it actually is, and still gotten the same info across
I hope I can get the millionair fast lane book, I read all of them mostly in audiobook form and I took notes in different ways to implement and test the principles, as I was better dealing with complexity and than creating simplicity out of chaos. I notice the more complex I structure my day in a sense, the more leeway I get for simplicity..., yet I have different habits and got injured, it's very odd to contrast what you do, yet I seek to learn and yes I am very competitive by nature. Even though I see myself as a creator, it's odd when life forces you to embrace complexity, I wish could create stuff from a simple place, and learning here!!
Hey brother. Great channel! Been watching your videos, and really can relate to a lot of what you say. I have many passions, and interests, that I half heartedly follow and get half hearted results from. Seeing you has given me a different perspective. I know there’s a lot more in me I need to express and thats what I’m aiming for. Your videos give me confidence that if I actually make the sacrifices, I’ll get there. Much appreciated! Hopefully one day I can start a channel detailing my previous successes to help inspire others.
Hey that’s awesome, glad I can help get you started there. And yeah for sure! I think we can all learn something from everyone. I think it’s a natural process to want to help others after you start to get results in your area.
I like collecting books. Not “self-improvement “ ones tho. Is the reason I work, buy books, and live off the leftover $. Millionaire Fast Lane is an acquired taste.
I love your channel!! I was wondering if you would make a video about your software engineering company and the origins for your interest in that field?
Thank you! and yeah I can sometime. Long Story short, I wanted more money and more time, so that drove me a LOT. And for some reason, my brain clicks really well with software engineering since I'm more on the logical side. I'll discuss it someday on the channel!
@@vaughngene awesome! I'm someone with many interests. Languages, working out, acting, vocals, etc... Tech is not particularly one of them (yet) but I just have never been exposed to it so like 🤷 maybe I would like it. I don't know!
I’ve written 2 books and 25 articles since going pro, and the more i write the more I read. and the more I read the more i realize how useless 99.9% of the books are in this world. the biggest problem i’ve ever had with personal development is it keeps teaching people to go to man for knowledge (preferably them so they can continue to line their pockets) but in reality, it’s important to do most of your learning by doing and by observing nature. don’t just ‘consoom’ content under the guise of mastery or edification. go do.

I did exactly what you just said, myself. I find that it's easy to collect books and feel good about it, but then reality hits Lol.
I did exactly that too

The concept of reading one book and really applying it is so deep, usually reading a lot of books is a status symbol. Thanks for the video...

Yeah improvement books are pretty much all the same thing tbh. The same brain rot material Lol, but these are all you would “need”.
I hope I can get into primal pattern movement after reading human development papers and testing a.i a bit more... yet again, I am very different.
I love your channel!! I was wondering if you would make a video about your software engineering company and the origins for your interest in that field?

Exactly, most of these books just say the same thing over and over again. Far better to just get out there and explore and experiment.
Might get deep work 😂🤷♀️, probably won't get any of them. I need to unclutter 😂
Oh hey! Spotify got it as an audiobook!
Even with these books, draw the concepts from it, but don't take it to heart. I think some of these authors are out of touch with reality a bit.
