I guess this would be a good candidate to use for a tarantula type build. Rip the good guts out and install in something else that didn't fall outta the highest ugly tree in the jungle and hit every single branch on way down!
I really enjoy my FMS rc’s but I completely agree they really missed on this one and it would be easy for them to fix. Go back to 1.0 wheels and tires at the very least. Or lower the price to $119 to cover the throwing away the tires and wheels. Thanks for a good video.
Hey Matt, great video! Man I watch a lot of videos on these builds and I have to say these companies should take your advice. Call it how you see it or in this case drive it. Lemur power!
Haha, a Lemur FMS add just ran midway through your video. 😂😂 what a silly commercial… had this truck driving in the trees in the jungle??? Wha what?? 😂😂
I couldn't agree more Matt. I don't have the Lemur, wasn't even interested in checking it out LOL. I did pull the trigger on the FCX18 LC80, thought it was a great idea to rework the FCX24 platform. Unfortunately small things like the skyscraper ride hight, poorly designed battery strap/hood flying open, and difficult to remove body prevents it from being awesome out of the box. Sure I can fix most of the shortcomings easily but thats not the point. I should not be able to hit a bump and have the battery eject from the vehicle with out the vehicle even crashing or rolling! WTF is that? FMS has the ability to do way better, they need to slow down and refine their products more!!
Hey Matt , this will lower and lengthen a little for free , Loosen the axle screws that hold the portals and rotate them slightly, I saw discipline do it and it helped .
That's exactly what I said too tall and no shock tuning. Like u said exactly they should look at what people do and want with them . I mentioned the shocks needed adjustment aswell
Maybe flip the shocks so they don't leak as much... Love what u do brother. I'm the same way I'll take something like that and trick it out. Make it a sleeper LOL.😂
@@MitchellBolognaniRC I do it a lot with 1/10s. Most of the 1/24 shocks don’t have enough weight to matter much lol. Sometimes I just like the look better. I think these would actually leak worse if flipped. Probably gonna swap them eventually anyway.
This video reminds me of one of my all time favorite cpl videos of yours you did with the XC-1 AX24. You took an almost unusable truck and turned it into an actual crawling beast for zero dollars (at 1st) And you did awesome with this truck now... but i still wouldn't buy it...there's waaay better buggy set ups it there too spend money on... they really went backwards with this one, in my opinion...lol Great video as always though sir!!
Really appreciate this comment. I decided I should try to focus on the positives and make it better lol. Glad I did honestly because I almost didn’t even bother modding it at all. I kinda like it now so maybe I’ll mod it some more lol
Don't make sense getting that. I like the buggy look too, but I think I'd just get a kit or get something that's half way there. What would You take from that rig to build to build a nice buggy crawler?
I mean personally… the axles probably lol. I don’t even use the 2 speed when I’m doing a serious build. I just go brushless and then I don’t need the extra weight of the 2 speed etc.
if fms was trying to promote the lemur, maybe should have sold it as only a chassis that had some more options for placement of shocks, links, etc that you could take the wagon/k5 parts and put it on to give it a different look and feel, stretched, etc. I only see this rig as something you give to a 6 year old who will run it on their driveway or grass backyard that has some dirt and a few rocks but mostly flat; at which point, the cost is too high and a walmat rig is more value.
I also like the Capra style roll cage. But, to my eyes, the charm didn't slide down to this rig, reducing the scale. Maybe the side panels, too vertical and very rectangular. I don't know. It looks like a lovely toy, but only a toy. Thank you for the tips.👍
This to me should be around 100-120 bucks. Nothing new or special about it, more of a base model similar to the Deadbolt. It definitely has potential after a bunch of mods
Do you upload your videos in ultra HD or? Your vids and a few other UA-cam channels play at full brightness on my phone no matter what my brightness setting is on. I mean it’s super vibrant and clear but full brightness video playback. Anyone else have the same thing happen?
What do you /y'all think about clocking portals(fcx24) back on rear axle for a little strech and lower? Ps thanks for ALL the great videos and ideas!!!!!
totally agree bud, we need to stop buying non-standardized ANYTHING. we stop buying it, they'll stop doing it! It's the EXACT reason I will never buy or own a traxxas.
@@johnnyhotshoe1292 value wise yes it's a joke the Fx118 is hard to beat with what it comes with. But I'm not sure about the hobby plus axles and I'm a sucker for anything "tube chassis" the answer is get both of course.
The Furitek - FX118 Fury Wagon is lightyears better than any other 1/18 RTR crawler on the market. Just make sure to add a ball bearing kit & install them before running the vehicle.
I actually hoped FMS would come out with a proper crawler at some point (I do not consider their previous releases to be proper crawlers out of the box at all and still prefer the scx24 platform), but this one is a particular disappointment! Wheels and shocks? Well, these are the parts you can assume everyone will modify anyway. They could have probably shipped their stuff without wheels and shocks and it would not have been any worse then with the current wheel and shock choice. But as you say, why did they use these shock mount positions? They suck! Why same length links front and rear again? They suck big time! And the worst part is the electronics combo! This thing should have been released with front and rear steering out of the box with three position switch for rear steering and the light button to switch between speeds (like on early power wagons). How are you going to make this work now with this remote? I wonder whether with some modifications one can use the Tarantula chassis to build a proper crawler out of an fcx24 instead of the trx 4m.
really? you dont understand the decision to make you spend more money basically as soon as you open it to make it function? money dude. The world runs on it.

I think they missed on this price point. Its got Phillips screws. Bad tires. I think if it was around the.$120 cost it would be more of a hit with me.
Yeah at least the Phillip screws are only on the cage. I can handle that but I agree with ya.
You have to remember that there is no rc vehicle ever made that is worth the cost the manufacturer asks for in all honesty.
I can always trust you with an honest review. That's why i keep coming back. Keep it up Matt!

wife bought an orange lemur.....it wasn't designed to crawl. But it is an absolute crazy wild bouncer and it's really good at 2nd gear rippin!!!

Mine is coming in next week. I’m hoping to come up with shock keys to help out lowering it and getting a little more flex out of it.
Thanks for taking some time and effort with those new incomes in the scale.
As always, great review. Treal has a 12mm extension kit for the FCX24y

OK, NICE now im liking it much better
If you put that carbon fiber on a 3d printer build plate, you get a carbon fiber texture on the print surface. Awsome for panels
Nice! That’s a great idea. Then if I could get a print to turn out I’d be ok 😆
@@2fmrc I used this when I printed some filler panels for the bed of my scx6. Looks great
If that's the same remote as the fcx18 v3 it is 4 wheel steer capable. That might make the lemur more worth having.
