I really appreciate that Japanese judokas are putting more and more Judo on UA-cam in English recently. This is so interesting to someone like me who will most likely never be able to go to Japan.
I've been waiting for this vid for ages !!!! I recently switched to fighting left since my right shoulder got injured. This will become really helpful. Thank you.
Thank you, we need more competitive approach like yours. I hope i can somehow take advantage of your advice and finally be able to throw my uchi-mata in randori.
Hi, I love your videos, they explain the physics and mechanics of judo in such a beautiful way! More people need to see your videos Can't wait for other techniques (ouchi gari please)
Thanks alot! I'm in Ono,Fukui right now and spending 2 months here with family. Putting focus on uchimata🇯🇵🥋😊 My goal for tonight's training is trying this on that one left-stance guy 😂 thanks alot!
I just started my judo journey two months ago and i absolutely love it although im 30+ but i work really hard to learn the basics and your video definitely helping thanks ❤❤❤ would you mind also do a video of how to choose a judogi? I have problems with it tho and no one to ask ... Im currently have a adidas j500 would it be enough?
The medical/orthopoedic community in Japan did s study of Judo-related knee injuries requiring surgical repair. There was an important finding: Left vs. Right grip during standing shiai/randori was several times more prevelant in these injuries. It seems our ukemi muscle memory fails us when we fight with Right vs Left, or Left vs. Right grips. Should we train new Judoka to match uke's grip side? Or change Ukemi somehow? Cheers.
@@fluidjudojapan thank you very much. And how about thickness? Since I don't have spring flooring, I m thinking of pretty thick mat. I've been just using old mattresses as base, put flattened cardboard boxes over the mattresses to level the floor and placed a folded mat on top of it. I can only do cartwheel twice to get from one end to the next before I fall off the mat. So I was thinking I may need more space.
Someone sent me this even though I'm a rhythmic gymnast, not a judo person but dam, imagine if rhythmic gymnasts learnt judo and their working leg kicked into a penche-

What size mats and how many do you need to build a home dojo like that?
Thanks John Smith✋
Normally TATAMI is 91cm✖️182cm in japan

Thank you Cheri Chan, I also think Rhythmic gymnast will be good in judo💪
I see you really use your right leg to lift up your opponent while you barely bump your chest towards the opponent.
