I think the huge majority wanted Maruyama to go to the Olympics over Abe. Abe is obviously also great, but Maruyamas style and humility are a true embodiment of Judo as an art in a person.
I love this Shintaro what about Kosei's tobikomi Uchimata? I have heard you say great things about him. He is my idol. Would you not consider it a different Uchimata.
Uchimata came naturally to me...the tossing of a person might be difficult, but the technique itself is not that hard, once you get the footwork and the grips down, it's not that hard.
I’ve been learning judo for like a decade and a half and have never tried a single uchimata because it’s too complex for my brain. That all changes now.

Maruyama should have won...the last encounter, it was hansuko because Abe throw with an arm lock.
