No insurance coverage or denial of coverage or inability to pay by insurance companies, means you just walk away and tell the bank where to find the keys. As long as you are alive you can rebuild. It sucks but life goes on.

No regular home insurance covers water over land flooding . Overland Flooding is a completely separate insurance policy .
Much the same as wind and weight of snow insurance.
Most home owners have no idea about this .

I’d also just like to add as someone who lives in this region that most people don’t even think about or worry about flooding since homes are usually high up. It’s absolutely awful that this has happened here.
Just so you in that area may get a heads up. After Ida, our insurance went under. Fema wouldn't help because "you have insurance " APEAL FEMA. You have to keep doing it to keep the case open until you know if or if not your insurance will pay. It was 13 appeals later we got a little help. Don't give up and don't think this is going to be easy peasy. It's been 3 yrs and we still aren't back in a house. Be patient and keep up your mental and physical health. I didn't, my stress and anxiety are through the roof. I've lost half my hair, and 40 pounds. It's a fight. And it's not over in round 10 even. Be patient but fight. Don't give up.
We were in bayou blue. Ida was the last straw for me. Moved my family to the mountains. Looks like I will probably move us again since I'm done with Hurricanes, insurance companies not paying what I'm due and being told by fema, sorry you have insurance.
My poor husband worked so hard to give us nice things and hurricanes kept taking them away.
@JadedLady yeah its very hard. And now we have to have flood insurance which used to be less than 300 is now almost 3k on top of 6k homeowners

@MrBill67b it wasn't the hurricane its the stress of corporate greed, red tape, and a contractor who literally doesn't g.a.s. about how they built. They are screwing up this bad knowing someone knowledgeable is watching...imagine what they did and are doing on the unsupervised houses!

That's exactly what came to my mind. Our government didn't do much of anything to help those in Hawaii after the eruptions either. This administration is struggling to pay out American families who have lost everything yet they have more than enough money to help people in foreign countries. A fraction of what they've sent overseas this year would be enough to rebuild every home and business lost in this storm.

In lake Charles, la. The people there didn’t get lights for months. It destroy almost everything in its pathway. They did get some flooding in some areas that were pretty bad but hurricane Helene damaged the lives of so many people from so many states it seems unreal 💔🙏❤️
Why are people bringing in supplies being stopped? Why are they being threatened with arrest for getting victims out? The Cajun Navy is up there trying to help.

@@sheilacampbell2521 You use yours. People are bringing supplies to people with mules and helicopters to deliver directly to people in dire need and they’re being stopped. They’ve been stopped with medical supplies like insulin and oxygen as well as unopened water and unopened food. I guess you think that’s right too. They’ve been threatened with arrest for trying to rescue people trapped while the lovely government isn’t attempting rescue at all.

@sheilacampbell2521 There's been people that have years of experience flying helicopters, who were threatened with arrest if they continued to rescue people. One lady was rescued. Her husband was left behind because the man that flew her out was threatened to be arrested.

I did my rescue training from those who had been at the scene of Katrina aftermath . I learned that without basic needs and services and the delivery system that could take years to repair the destruction many people left the area to go live with friends, relatives. The same thing happened after the tragic fire on the island of Maui, Hawaii that many locals had left to join relatives. They have to find new housing to survive.
😢I don’t understand how can they be talking about insurance when this is a DISASTER which I believe should be the government job to supply during relief disasters it didn’t just happen in one home it wiped out an entire town and roads😤What was the point of the President going and inspect the damage🤯

Much easier than finding resources to boil water to drink, or waiting for mule team to bring in some water.

Unfortunately Western NC has just became one of the best investment opportunities in this state now for the long term. Property values are ruined now and the areas tourism market is going to be down for a long time. Cheaper pricing to buy now is what is gonna happen and that is what all the rich people are going to do.

Insurance brokers do not have the liability, the issuing companies do.
Hard to have "proper" insurance when all carriers are very specific about what they cover and premiums for specialty policies are EXPENSIVE and most of the affected people DON'T HAVE INSURANCE....including many small town city management coffers. One of the worst legacies this years storms will have is the changes in the insurance industry approach to coverages and policy rates, if they even stay insuring folks in these areas.....and to be clear, it is most likely not going to be good changes we see come.out of the insurance company directors

These people need financial aid "yesterday" and other emergency aid, and this administration needs to stop sending billions in funds to other countries that could care less about us except for the open hands they constantly have outreached to fill their on pockets.

Someone mentioned in a comment section about the hurricanes ..that this was also done because people in disaster zones are unable to vote. That was an interesting thought. Besides the fact that others were stating that minerals are in the ground in most of the affected areas.. something else to ponder WHY this took place.

That makes zero aense. Brokers merely sell coverage provided by actual insurance organizations. They are usually diversified across multiple geographic areas to lower their overall risk and most of them also re-insure their obligations to protect their exposure.
The obstacles are the GOP senators voting against infrastructure bills, defunding FEMA and NOAA.
