  • A really uninformed TIKTOKer made some pretty ridiculous comments about the future of the haunted house industry. With that being said we address every point he made while at the same time discuss what is the future of the haunted house industry. How will the industry change over the next 10 years. We discuss today.

    Larry, the last 10 minutes or so was golden. That is exactly what I was thinking of developing or the end goal. I am a small guy building small haunts, but I have an eye to the future and finding ways to make it "year round" like you described. Thanks for sharing and offering up your experience to others, that will be one of your greatest legacies.

    Larry, your haunts are phenomenal and I always thought if I were to ever operate and build a haunted house (because back then I thought it’s what I was going to do) I would watch every “How to DVD” you’ve made and read what I could in Hauntworld magazines to educate myself. I would sit and study what you’ve shared to the haunt community. Sending my love to the incredible Darkness Haunted House! Will be back for auditions again this year and can’t wait!

    i think your spot on but the things you do with the animatronics and stuff like that is so cool i wish we had something like the darkness here in California something to walk through and see all the animatronics and the scenery everything is so awsome i would also love to see and something i think could would would be like a rainforest cafe expearence with your level of anamtronics/ scenery with a cheap affordable menu and an arcade i think has a big way to go.

    Enjoy the topic, sounds like two different age groups talking or wanting the same thing in the end. I am in the 50s age group and work with younger people every day ,they look at things differently . They have so many tools/resources at there disposal that we could only dream about just a few years ago. Good to leave a open ended invite for this younger generation , being able to learn /leapfrog from all of your hard work and acquired knowledge . In the end if the industry is made better by working together ,we all benefit from old and new ideas. Old guy saying( there's more than one way to skin the cat) .

      I'd be happy to talk shop with him anyday! I really am NOT mad at all he just inspired a topic. But for him to say all the OLD haunters are basically yesterday's news was very disrespectful but also very incorrect.

    I went and found the guys video and I think he's really saying "this is what I personally would like to see in a haunt", which is fair enough, nothing wrong with daydreaming a little, but if anything he should've said "lazy people make crappy haunts" instead of "boomers make crappy haunts". It's got nothing to do with someone's age, moreso their resources, passion, observations, etc. I also wonder if he's mostly referring to home haunts, and if that's the case, why bother dragging someone who's doing something for fun as free entertainment to their community just cuz they're 45+ lol.

    • @Hauntworld
      @Hauntworld  Місяць тому +1

      I think the guy is doing a fun tiktok and youtube page its fine... but you can't go around disrespecting people due to their age. You can't say only younger people are creative or artistic and old people have outdated haunts. He's got that backwards the haunts considered the most artistic, creative and all the things he was saying are owned by people in their 50's and 60's. This is why I offered him the opportunity to visit and we'll do a video together. Then maybe he can retract his comments. But again he thinks I'm attacking him no not really... he just inspired a topic!

    Josh is confused, he's not talking about haunted houses - what he's referring to is the interactive horror theater/experiences that have become popular in the last 10 years (Sleep No More, Delusion, Zombie Joe's Underground Theater). Interactive theater is not new at all, its just been mostly proliferated with horror themes nowadays. The closest example to what Josh is talking about would be when Hong Kong Disneyland did a haunt; you would go through in groups and move from room to room, each room would have detailed sets, scary Disney prop characters, and actors performing a scene. Here's a link to that experience - ua-cam.com/video/sxBNALdso7Q/v-deo.html In fact, its exactly what they've been doing at the London Dungeon (tourist spot in London) since 1974, and that includes an indoor boat ride!!!

    • @Hauntworld
      @Hauntworld  Місяць тому +2

      No I don't think he's confused he said OLD HAUNTED HOUSE owners, are into jump scares, and the new younger haunters are creating more interactive attractions plus they're more artistic. He made no sense. Either way I'm not mad just he inspired a fun topic. Now he might take it as a diss but I took it as an interesting topic.

      @@BNRhauntedlong This generation has zero chance to be half as creative as the older generations. That is just a fact. They are stunted by growing up in a digital era where everything was already figured out and presented to them. They never had to develop actual imaginations through creative problem solving because all the problems were already solved. They just know how to emulate, not innovate. Sorry, those are just the absolute facts.

      With that being said he clearly has NO CLUE when video games came out because Resident Evil started it all in 1996. Maybe this dude thinks all of us OLD haunters came from the horse and buggy era I dunno! Resident Evil video game in 1996 was cool then and is still cool and scary today.

    Alright. So, hey. I know Joshua Harris. He’s a good friend of mines. I’m apart of this community and I understand that you may have misunderstood the entire video In general. What Josh was trying to imply Is that the future of haunts will change significantly throughout the course of the next generation. Which is impressive to think about. The technology, sound effects, animatronics, lighting and overall atmosphere Is going to be Incredible. However, going out of your way to call this guy “Crazy” or “someone who doesn’t have any experience” Is a bit childish and unprofessional. When Josh himself has created one of the most Interactive experiences that I’ve seen In a home haunt. This can also Include some other people In this community like AidanKaye, Spookyguy, Halloween Haunter, etc. I can go on for days. But I hope you will take this comment the right way and not disregard any other Haunters In the near future.

      Sounds like a pretty condescending kid too me, like most of his generation. You kids would even know what haunted houses are if it wasnt for the older generations. What hes talkig about is purely the perspective of a home haunter. Theres few more delusional people out there then home haunters. I know i used to be one

      @Hauntworld  Місяць тому +7

      No I don't think I missed his point. He disrespected hundreds of haunted house owners without any knowledge what so ever of the owners or the haunts. To say as a blanket statement that OLD haunt owners are basically yesterday's news is really disrespectful. The guy clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. With that being said... I don't hate the guy I could care less about him. Good for him that he's built up a little tiktok page... I'm not mad I just listened to his tiktok and thought to myself what a great topic. First off to correct him but talk about how the industry has really changed and what might change in the future. he just basically inpspired a topic. No harm!

    • @Hauntworld
      @Hauntworld  Місяць тому +3

      Oh btw I think you didn't watch my video because I think I said everything he's saying OLD people aren't doing they're doing times 100. While he's opening boxes of Spirits Halloween animations, most of these OLD people are buying props that cost 10k, 20k, spending 100k 200k on new scenes, detailed rooms, special fx just like DISNEY brah! That was the whole point he doesn't know what he's talking about. Furthermore you should have a little respect for the people older than you he clearly doesn't have ANY!
