Hello, I am a diesel guy of 40 years but I have zero experience with nitrous on a diesel. I am familar with the concept of how nitrous works though. I have two of these little engines and several other types as well. The little injector pump on these engines are usually capable of supplying fuel in excess of what can be burned with the amount of air that is injested on the intake stroke hence the smoke under full load. I would think that being the case if you injected a small amount of nitrous in its gassious form while the engine is under full load then the smoke would clear up and the power would increase to a degree...just like putting a turbo on it. I suspect that maybe the reason the engine was cutting out when you hit it with nitrous is because it was probably in liquid form and in far excess of what was needed to burn the addional fuel that is causing the exhaust smoke. I have a feeling that it might have been cutting out to the liquid nitrous cooling the air charge to the point that there was not enough heat in the air at top dead center to ignite the diesel when it is injected. Maybe try just a little bit of gas nitrous under full load and see if it clears up the smoke and gives you more power. I dont think opening up the hole in the pintle style injector is going to give you more fuel. I think you will distort the spray pattern and cause more issues. That type of nozzle will open further already to allow for more fuel to be injected by the pintle needle travling further back and opening the hole up. That is why this type of nozzle works very well with different viscosity fuels when compared to a fixed multi hole type nozzle found on direct injection engines. You might be able to increase the fuel output past the injector pumps current ability but it would require a larger diameter plunger and bushing assembly to be used. Good luck.

I appreciate the response. Yeah I had originally thought it was going to be enough extra fuel with how much it normally smokes. I think you’re right about to much nitrous. I normally just run an open 3an fitting as the nitrous ‘nozzle’ but had accidentally got 4an for the diesel. I made a fitting to restrict the nitrous so hopefully that will be all it needed.

Add propane. Port it straight into the intake. Run a regulator on the bottle and a jet/restrictor on the engine end. Just crack the bottle for extra hp

I’ve actually been ordering the parts for this just need to find something to use as a restrictor/jet

The best way I can think of to increase fuel flow without fitting a different injection pump would be a high pressure lift pump with an adjustable regulator, start at 25 psi and go up from there, I wouldn’t mess with the injector besides maybe adding a shim of stiffer spring to increase injection pressure

Try Getting one of those little tiny turbo's on E bay. I think that on Red Beards Garage he fitted one to his diesel go cart and got some more power . Its Worth a try T think is a RHB31 turbo from a Japanese Kia car

Yeah I’ve seen his video but he never talked about increasing fueling which I would think would be a must to really see gains.

@@jwsbackyard6413 Oh OK Yeah,. I think that you change the Timing by adding or taking out shims I think But not sure about how to increase the Fuel.

Yeah I’ve heard about the shims but the people I saw do it were unsure of how much it really changed. I have a new injector pump on the way for a larger engine. If it works a turbo may be in the future.

Turbo and or nitrous means more fuel

With diesel and nitrous lean is mean its not like gas engines where you want to stay below the stoiciometric ratio you can run as lean as 26:1 even leaner in some cases that being said this is on turbo motors not n/a firepunk diesel has some great info on this topic
