Fun fact! The Mystic Stone CAN be found in the quarry if you are incredibly lucky! It’s where I found my first and only one, and where I got my first prismatic shard!
I found two there. And got prismatic shard on both. Then I decided to stop playing the game for a year or so, forget about prismatic shard save, delete every save in the game, starting a new one, and never found it ever again. I'm sad.

Yup, there is a 25% chance to get a prismatic shard from one of the mystic stones. You can guarantee a prismatic shard from one of these stones in the quarry. Just start the day and go break the stone, if you don’t get a prismatic shard… reset the day and go about whatever you want for the day. Go to bed, and then try again the next day. Keep up the great work! By the way, I’m sure there are a few people who never stopped playing and never stopped uploading but Stardew is the type of game that hooks you VERY effectively and playing it can be more fun than a barrel of monkeys. I returned to the game in the last few months after an extended hiatus for similar burnout type reasons... that and I was playing it sunup to sundown and my wife of 18 years was, for the first time ever, telling me that even for me, this was too much video games. That makes the mussel nodes a great source of easy food that passively replenishes and if you collect a bunch of them while waiting for the Qi Cuisine quest you can turn them all into sushi and sell them without it costing any money for seeds/ingredients :)) 💕
Another rock type is the light grey rocks (you have them pictured in the screenshot of the quarry where you talk about geode rocks). They take fewer hits to break than regular rocks, and can occur in the mines and skull caverns (and I think volcano?). They only produce stone, but they give 1exp per rock instead of 0. They are useful if you have a low-level pick axe in the lower mines levels, as they break more easily than the native rocks as well as giving the exp. The most boring rock, but very noticeable if you use a mod which shows exp gain - I always end up seeking them out to get the small boost!
@@genevievefangirl that’s interesting! I thought maybe they were actually somehow farm rocks (which the video said gives one exp), but they’re actually a totally distinct rock type!
@@Noonsal I'm glad you mentioned this. I tend to rush the mines without upgrading my pickaxe and I always seek out these rocks because they're faster to mine!
About the crystalarium: be careful walking holding any gems close to them. You can accidentally put an aquamarine inside one that is replicating diamonds then you lose your diamond. Very sad.
Or worse, you put your quartz crystallarium too close to your other ones, collect the quartz for your bomb stash and then bump into a jade crystallarium ...
thankfully this was changed in the newest update! now you have to break the crystallarium to switch the gem inside, making sure you get the original back :)
I was looking at the gemstone cluster before you had started to explain it and thought, "Wow, after all these years there's still something new I'm learning. I have NEVER seen whatever stone that is!!!" xD
Just an fyi there no artifacts that only appear in artifact troves, they just might have a higher percentage chance for some items or help find ones that have very specific spawn locations
Don’t worry about it taking so long!! I’m just glad you chose to break it up to make it easier on yourself. It also makes it easier to digest the information, lol. I love your videos and they help a lot, thank you Salmence!!!
Did you forget about the grey rocks in the mines? they're a special case, they fit into i think the 2nd tier of rock consistently regardless of the mine you're in, they always produce one stone, and have a chance for 2 stone plus the usual chances for coal i think. They're of note because of their ease to break in later floors or skull cavern as no matter what as long as you have copper pick or higher they are a 1 hit break. Seeing lot of people also mentioning the quarry for Mystic stones, i believe there's either a guaranteed one or a very good chance for one to spawn there at least once. It seems to occur frequently but it would require testing or data *mining* to confirm.
For the pickaxe hits: I believe it goes that one hit of a copper/steel/gold/iridium pickaxe counts as 2/3/4/5 hits from a basic one, hence the numbers on the chart.
Just started playing it, seems like a lot to the game so I should check out a guide. Your intro won me over, I’ll actually subscribe for that lmao. Very well thought out.
15:30 " as expected, they give you mussels" Thought that was obvious. I mean you swing around a pickaxe all day, of course you're going to get stronger 💪

11:11 The ratios still have a pattern! Base to copper is 1/2, copper to steel is 2/3, steel to gold is 3/4, and gold to iridium is 4/5 (with one exception going from 2 to 1)
16:09 The recipe for 100% retaining soil includes clay. When i was trying to get 100% ofy ginger island farm with that, the clay node was very helpful.
15 MINUTES AGOO DUUUDEEE IM PLAYING THIS GAME ON MOBILE AND I WAS SO CONFUSED ABOUT SOME SITUATIONS ABOUT MINING TY SO MUCH I HAVE BEEN WIATING FOR THIS
I don't know WHAT one of my farms was drinking but I found a mystic stone in my first skull cavern run, my first visit to the quarry and my SECOND visit to the quarry, all 3 times I got a prismatic shard
I'd say something about the determination involved in getting radioactive ore with an unupgraded pickaxe, but I've spent more time than I want to admit throwing rocks in Horizon Zero Dawn for science.
Me after watching your video: found Diamond node on Level 5, found Prismatic Shard on Level 11 dropped by one of the monsters, found 4 Mystic Stones in the Quarry using chair trick before mining carts were repaired - damn I have a good game! :))))) I noticed that if you progress really fast the game will do one of two things - it will either do all in its power to make you fail including cheating (your items falling into water when water is 5+ tiles away) or it will encourage you and give you stuff that usually comes much later on. During Day one I met all of the villager available to be met on that day went to Secret Woods planted most crops needed for initial Community Center bundles picked all available forages and gave people gifts. I ran like mad from 6 am to 2 pm. However in the next few days I started getting the unusual awards :)
Looking at the pickaxe chart, it looks like the ordering is just 1/n from the basic pickaxe, rounded up. Copper is 1/2, iron 1/3, gold 1/4, iridium 1/5. The only one that breaks this trend is omni geodes with the iron pickaxe by the looks of it edit-looks like other people already caught it, my bad for repeating, still not sure what's going on with omni geode nodes though, unless it's just a typo in the video or bug
@@salmence100 I would suggest checking again. The code sets "minutesUntilReady" to 8 when creating it, and the code when using the pickaxe calculates damage as Math.Max(1, (int)base.upgradeLevel + 1) + this.additionalPower.Value. And when I tested it, I got 3 hits.

I dunno how, but I found 2 of that super rare node you mentioned not finding. First time was at the volcano, where it broke with 1 swing (Steel Pickaxe), while it took 3 swings to destroy it at the Quarry with Gold Pickaxe.
Love the inclusion of the max lair lobby music, lol. Actually there in game while watching this, confused me as to why I could hear my switch’s sound all of a sudden.
I would like to mention an iridium pickaxe with the powerful enchantment makes rocks take less hits to break, i think making iridium nodes take 3 hits instead of 4
I'm pretty sure i just mined a mystic stone in the quarry which is insane, it was the first one I've found and it dropped a prismatic stone! Between that, the abundance of amethysts I got at the beginning to court Abigail and the rabbit's foot as the very first rabbit drop, I'm beginning to think Stardew is the only game where luck is on my side XD
Oh, this should include the meteor that can rarely show up on your farm. According to the wiki: - The event has a 1% chance to happen... but it picks a random 3x3 space on your farm, then checks to see if at least 2x2 of it is open enough/passable. It will not land on things that block movement, such as buildings, water, or fences. However, crops and crafted paths don't block movement and thus are fair game; a few players have had their hearts broken when their Sweet Gem Berries got obliterated. - You will hear a booming noise overnight, and then in the morning the message "An explosion was heard in the night..." - It requires a gold pickaxe or better to break. With the gold pickaxe it takes 7 hits; with the iridium pickaxe it takes 6. - When you break it you get 6 iridium ore, 6 stone, and 6 geodes (yes, normal regular geodes). In other words, it's not worth rushing a gold pickaxe for, unless you wanted to put something else right there.
I want to mention a different kind of stone, it can be mined in one hit by copper picks and above, they're more lustrous than the normal stone and give more than one stone, i break these in skull cavern before iridium puckaxe
14:55 You can actually have a diamond at lvl 5 frim this rock. Imagine my shock when it dropped me a diamond at lvl 15 when the books at the library says its spawn at 50 or deeper only
Funny interaction I JUST noticed. You can use bombs to mine trees, each explosion being worth 2 ax swings. But 1 bomb can instantly break any rock, being worth up to 25 pickaxe swings. (At least 16. I've never tried breaking radioactive ore with a bomb)
I find the simpler way to think of rocks is in stone health and pickaxe strength. The stone health varies from 1 to 25 (that I have found), and that depends on location. e.g. Copper ore in normal mines has a health of 3. In the dangerous mines it is 6, and in skull cavern it is 2. Each time a pickaxe hits a stone, it subtracts its upgrade level + 1. This means the copper pickaxe takes 1/2 as many hits, an iron pickaxe takes 1/3, a gold pickaxe takes 1/4, an iridium pickaxe takes 1/5 and an enchanted (powerful) iridium pickaxe takes 1/6. This also means the upgrade to copper halves the number of hits, while the upgrade from gold to iridium means you take 4/5 the number of hits (80%). For example a copper pickaxe can break a copper ore in skull cavern in 1 hit, but a iron one is needed in the mines, and an enchanted Iridium one is needed for dangerous mines. The gems can be found on any floor once you reach the bottom. (With jade being half as likely as the rest). The purple stone can give any of the 7 main gems, including diamond. And the number of hits it takes to break varies depending upon where it is. Sometimes it will take 1. I assume you found your test case on floor 80-120. The same applies to mystic stones, with the number of hits to break one depends on where it is. In the mines it will be 4. In skull cavern it will be 5. Most rocks can be found on floors divisible by 5. This includes gem stones, mystic stones, and purple rocks. It is primarily the metal ores (and radioactive) that can't.
Not-so-pro tip!: When you unlock skull cavern, you'll want to maximize the amount of floors you can do in one run, so do this: The desert trader trades one spicy eel for a ruby, so set up one to three crystalariums, and wait two days (in game ofc). Then set up one to six crystalariums with jades, because on sundays, the desert trader offers one ladder for one jade. And the ladders are A HUUUGE resource, if you want to maximize ur floors. (Even though, try to do smaller numbers than six, because if I'm not wrong, the crystalarium is crafted with irudium, hard resource to find if you're just starting skull cavern)
i found the mystic rock on my first ever farm at the quarry and got a prismatic shard!! … to which i then gave to gunther because i didn’t know what the galaxy hammer was
I have a small detail regarding mining xp and dust sprites, whenever a dust sprite breaks something that gives mining xp the player gets the xp. In multiplayer all players get the xp even if they arent in the mine.
I didn't realize the mystic stone was so rare, i've found them in the quarry at least twice and a few more times in the mines, I guess I have insane luck lmao.

I just started playing this game bro and this intro go hard
I'm pretty sure i just mined a mystic stone in the quarry which is insane, it was the first one I've found and it dropped a prismatic stone! Between that, the abundance of amethysts I got at the beginning to court Abigail and the rabbit's foot as the very first rabbit drop, I'm beginning to think Stardew is the only game where luck is on my side XD
Oh, this should include the meteor that can rarely show up on your farm. According to the wiki:
- The event has a 1% chance to happen... but it picks a random 3x3 space on your farm, then checks to see if at least 2x2 of it is open enough/passable. It will not land on things that block movement, such as buildings, water, or fences. However, crops and crafted paths don't block movement and thus are fair game; a few players have had their hearts broken when their Sweet Gem Berries got obliterated.
- You will hear a booming noise overnight, and then in the morning the message "An explosion was heard in the night..."
- It requires a gold pickaxe or better to break.
You theoretically forgot the meteor when listing the rocks :)
I want to mention a different kind of stone, it can be mined in one hit by copper picks and above, they're more lustrous than the normal stone and give more than one stone, i break these in skull cavern before iridium puckaxe
yeah I got many mystic stones in the quarry
Woah... i have never been this early to any video in my life :) and its on a subject I desperatly need help with hahaa *cries*

You can actually have a diamond at lvl 5 frim this rock. Imagine my shock when it dropped me a diamond at lvl 15 when the books at the library says its spawn at 50 or deeper only
This a badass guide dude thank you
I love this video series! ☺️
I was tired of coal being scarce so I set up a bunch of wood chippers and charcoal kilns in my backwoods.
Huh, the secret woods would also be an interesting place to do that. Infinite hardwood -> wood -> coal.
I like the Avatar The Last Airbender opening for this video!
Not-so-pro tip!:
When you unlock skull cavern, you'll want to maximize the amount of floors you can do in one run, so do this:
The desert trader trades one spicy eel for a ruby, so set up one to three crystalariums, and wait two days (in game ofc).
(Ik this is a common thing, but it rlly helped me :D)

New attention spam cooker just dropped! Mining radioactive ore with default pickaxe with goofy ahh beat in the background
i found the mystic rock on my first ever farm at the quarry and got a prismatic shard!! … to which i then gave to gunther because i didn’t know what the galaxy hammer was
I love this opening.
Should mention that if you really want a lot of refined quartz easily, put fire quartz into crystlariums.
HOW DID I NOT KNOW YOU COULD SMELT QUARTZ?! I only thought refined quarts was gotten from the recycling machine and from enemies
Just a small correction. While boulders in the mine give 10 stone, they actually give 15 stone on the farm.
I think the mystic stones can also spawn in the quarry, I found one there once
10:00 totally random but this helps me out a ton. I have given the scrolls to him as a gift. I gave him all 4 and it didnt work. Didnt knew I had to donate it to the museum. Also for some reason I keep getting scroll nr3. I have that one 5 times. I found one other but the last 2 are just no where to be found... I wish didnt gifted him the scrolls but just donated it to the museum...
The Geode Crusher does not open Mystery Boxes, Golden Coconuts or Artifact Troves. Basically, it only opens stone geodes.
i only got mistyc stones in the quarry, all 3 of them, two gave me prismatic shard in early game, and i never saw them again later on
Abigail not being a chapter is illegall
I love mining. I just started playing this game again and am doing a no farming/Joja run. I'm spending a lot of time in the mines.
I was going to try a foraging only/Joja run, but it's been a while since I've played and want to ease back into things
This video is such a Gem
I've been waiting for this!
This wonderfull intro ❤
3:07 Okay, I admit that I didn't know about this one.
