I am doing shorts and reels for few months already and I feel like UA-cam Shorts are future because people have short span of attention now, and it's really popular with Gen Z (almost as much as TikTok). That's why I am trying to make content for both platforms, but I generally put my focus on short and expressive videos (and then I use a little bit of Famester Social as well to get easier into loop and increase my presence). Easy business honestly.

Nice timing for this video! I’ve decided to spend a little more time on shorts lately as an experiment. Been seeing lots of people lately say shorts is a good way to increase subs and viewers. I just put out a short 2 days ago and hoping for another today, we’ll see how they do! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

@@bubuchocolate they did alright, relatively speaking. The first one shot up pretty quickly but then they kinda leveled off and haven’t got alot of action since. I kind of have a theory that there are so many shorts being posted all the time that when you post one, it has a short timeframe to either takeoff or fall down the list of what the algo promotes. Depending on your niche they can be less time consuming to make, and some people’s shorts do really well so it can be a good idea. I’m not so sure I feel that way about mine though lol

VidIQ you can upload a “Custom Thumbnail” of your video IF saved in a editor with a “cover thumbnail”. When up loaded to UA-cam it with automatically be placed as your thumbnail. just Open and Close the pen selection and 👍🏾

Is the RPM for a short higher if the video is longer? My shorts vary in video length (10 to 18 seconds) time and the RPMs vary from .11 to .13 per 1000 views.

Focus on something you enjoy there will be a viewer base for it it started working for me you got this
That's true.. unless what you enjoy happens to be something that billions of people have already ran the market of content on, then you'll likely have a harder time building a community in that same area of content.
The areas where competition is high requires you to fall into the algorithmic trap where you'll likely have to copy a portion if not majority of the format that you see working for other channels.
If you're in a territory where you can kind of set the tone for what content looks like for something that isn't so popular yet, then you don't have to do as many psychological tricks to pull in more viewers.
Hello! I know this video is pretty old but I still hope you reply, If you are on ipad does the short icon for when you press on the record video show up on ipad because it didn’t show up for me.
At this moment, I've given up on creating shorts. When I get $0.14 for 2,000 views on a short compared with $6.50 for 1,500 views on a long from video, it's just not worth the effort. When I needed the subscriber count, shorts really helped, but since I've hit the 1k mark, I don't concentrate on getting subscribers anymore. I still have an idea for a killer short, but I'm now content with relying on long form content and community posts at the moment.
What i do like about shorts is that I do not have to makw thumbnails 😊

The problem with Shorts is that you can't adjust the music levels..

OK, maybe I missed something. 99.99% of everything I do is live. So, let's use Friday that past, I did a live and in said live, I have a section from that I want to make into a short. How do I do that? Can I do it from my desktop or does it need to be done using my phone? And either way, how? I tried using my phone, clicked make a short and it doesn't show me ALL of my videos, it shows me whatever it wants to show me. Thanks. 👋🤠

Yeah, my views have been so extremely low lately. I used to get around 1000 or at least a few hundred. Now I get around 8-10 views on my shorts. I’d like to start doing longer videos again instead of posting shorts. It’s been disappointing.

Edit: To answer the questions, if you follow trends, you can get alot of new viewers and subscribers alot faster. If you have a passion for something, go ahead! Although the best way is to follow trends.

Literally recorded my short using OBS with a 9:16 ration and I flipped my resolution from 2560x1440 to 1440x2560 and even tried 1080x1920 to go lower and the actual screen looks like the correct ration but when i watch the video it is stretched wide. What else is there for me to do?

Shorts work WAY better for me than ANY regular video. I even made a 10 second video and got a whopping 26 views. I got a surprise 100 once. Shorts got me up 1000-2000 views and even a subscriber YAAAY. Interesting how we can put any music in a short as long as we use the app. Maybe not for long though
I can't seem to figure out how to find (on my laptop) the SHORTS drafts that I initiated on my iPhone . . . It seems as though the Shorts drafts initiated on the iPhone can only be found/edited on the iPhone -and- the drafts initiated on the laptop can only be found/edited on the laptop . . . . Am I missing something here?
If you post a video under 60 seconds why doesn’t it be a short automatically

The size of the video will keep it from being a short even if it is under 60 seconds

I made a Short with music from the list of music within the Shorts creator. It was fine when I uploaded it, but sometime later, a copyright claim appeared. Why is that so? Does it mean that it will not be eligible for monetisation (when I get into the Partner Prog)?

Idk if this is true but I think putting links to places outside youtube in descriptions makes the youtube algorithm promote your content less since they want people to stay on youtube. This means that you might as well just put no non-youtube links in shorts descriptions.
