I still have an older model and would consider updating to this latest version. Thank god they’ve kept the physical dashboard controls. The updates have keep the Qashqui looking modern and appealing. The blue colour looks fabulous in the sunshine. I just need to buy a lottery ticket and win enough to buy the top spec model with the “grandpa” leather !!! Great review Tish.
The best thing could happen to hybrid cars is e-Power, IMO. I also love the physical buttons and the fair enough interior quality for the price. After e-Power I can never imagine to buy a regular hybrid car, but e-Power or full electric ones only. I've been on a driving camp (driving training for special, unexpected situations), and all I can say, Qashqai's safety system and the "driving feel" during difficult situations were extremely calming and just right. In everyday life though, the safety system is a bit too paranoid, it gives me heart stopping occasionally with false alarms, so that needs some calibrations IMO. All these experiences with a J12 Tekna. Oh, I almost forgot: the HUD is the best thing if safety is important for you, it showed its real value during the driving camp: I could stare at speed and the road the same time without constantly looking down. Helped a lot, I loved it.
It's a hybrid car, with an ICE, Electric Motor & a Bty. How you hook it up doesn't matter. The Austral & others means you run on bty or the ICE depending on it's criteria. It's a complicating meshing system that may play up. Does it drive on Electric all the time? Qashqai does, the engine charges bty only & you have the best of both worlds.
@@seltaeb3302 the new electric part of car or epower title is only warrantied 3 years , so if your buying outright , part loaning Dosh it isn't a decent warranty. If yer leasing it's a case of just for 3 years then.
Great review as always Tish. For me personally the Google system would put me off. I had nothing but issues with it in a xc40. I actually ended up changing it for a sportage hev which has been phenomenal. The system in that is great too, especially maps
Android Automotive is just like Android phones in the way that the actual hardware running it and what the manufacturer has added to it can make your experience completely different. I wouldn’t compare them tbh as it’s likely bad Volvo software rather than anything wrong with Android Automotive itself
I like the concept of their strong hybrid ... because it opens an interesting road for further developments of the hybrid mode ... even as up-grades of a car already in use. 👍
I dont drive enough to justify an ePower variant, so I bought a 2024 ST-L (2nd from top) model here in very hot and sunny Oz. Love the features, design and safety tech the Qashqai offers. Look up where the name comes from...very interesting bit of trivia.
I have been driving a new Nissan Juke hybrid N-connecta 2024 for about 8 weeks. Its not my personal vehicle & I have not driven a Nissan car before. So far I find it good car in its price range and certainly a big improvement on the previous versions. I am not reviewing this car but pointing out a bad feature in my opinion. The problem is “speed limit chimes” or sounds. Initially I thought I could turn off these chimes, but after a number of calls to Nissan customer services, it now seems it is a permanent feature. You might say why turn off a “possible” safety feature. In driving at variable speeds there is a flashing or blinking speed sign in the instruments to let you know when going over the limit, which is enough without the chimes. But in some driving environments such as towns & villages where the speed limit changes quickly from one to another the chimes become “an annoying distraction” especially if you are listening to music or a podcast. Even chatting to a passenger. Also getting directions from a SatNav. This “overkill of technology” is spoiling driving experience & doing the opposite of its intentions and just to say I am not against technology. I don’t think drivers need a car to tell them about speed limits. If this is something that Nissan is imposing on its customers I will not be considering Nissan cars as a possible purchase or even recommending to anyone. At least as a customer you should have a choice.
Omg i watched your last qashqai tekna plus review and bought my first qashqai on the strength of it Definitely want to get this one Thanks once again for the best car reviews ever tish x
I'm wary of the Qashqui. My sister owned a new one a couple of years ago. Lots went wrong with it. Same thing with friends. Theirs had similar problems.
Great review, Tish. I think the updated version looks really good! One question I have is what's the suspension like? I'm hoping it's not as firm as the Juke.
I do really like the look of the new Qashqai, even in the lower specs, but I'm not sure why! Its very unassuming. That said, I'd be loathed to choose one over our Hyundai Tuscon which is such a solid and practical car and has a far better reliability rating.
I really didn't want to like the Qashqui but each version just gets better and i think this one is quite a looker too. But Google built-in is a yes for me.
its the 1.5 thats worth a look , heres the thing, i keep a car for 4 to 6 years , but the warranty on the e power fandango batteries only a 3 yr warranty , so i walked (doesnt matter the old or tweaked one ) , shame nissan didnt consider a 5 or 6 yr warranty on their e battery set up.
I have the previous Epower Tekna, 2022 model, just finished an 800 mile trip, half of which was motorway driving at 70mph, fuel usage was 58MPG. The car is really good, I'm thinking of changing to the new model soon
Very much enjoying your vids. I like the shape of this car and saw one on the road recently and it looked fantastic. The e power is an interesting development and would be keen to understand what BIK category this falls into.
Getting my e-Power next week with a wait of 9 days. Its in Gun Metal colour, my first choice was the lovely dark green called Ocean Deep but with a wait of 4 months! Why? Just have a pool of each colour & replace when bought. It's the same with most brands & not good enough. 4 weeks is the max. Sort it!
Do you Tish as a brit see british-made japanese cars like Qashqai and Corolla as domestic products in the same category as Jaguar and Land Rover altough they’re both designed outside UK unlike Jaguar and Land Rover?
Great review. What safety features automatically activate (assuming you don't use the custom mode) when the car is fired up? Currently our Audi A3 always starts with the physical lane departure warning where it literally stiffens the steering wheel rather than just sounding an alert, and honestly it's just dangerous - it gets confused way too often. To turn it off each time means several clicks through menus and I hate it! Also - am I right in thinking there's a button on the door handles that can be pressed rather than having to use the button on the key? Last question(!) - the driver assist custom option, is this available and activated from the shortcuts menu accessed via the steering wheel on all trims? We have ordered the N-Connecta.
Nice review tish hope your enjoying the lovely weather there The new model looks good more stylish and better looking inside and out does it still have a Renault engine? X
I just dont get the point on having a turboed engine just to charge the batteries. Why not just put a drive shaft in it and be done with it. That new ocean colour is stunning by the way though probably scary expensive if you need a repair on a scratch etc. If its a flip style paint. Great review Tish, keep them coming.
Because you get all the benefits of electric mode driving. The others are half & half. Go have a test drive in any electric car & you will be impressed. Nissan have done the right thing. Driving in town will be mainly electric with Regen braking.
Just ordered an auto acenta premium. Top spec versions are nice but too expensive as they wander in to Volvo and merc price territory without any more power and I didn’t want to spend and extra 7 or 8k for a nice interior and some creature comforts.
I got the opportunity to look at the North American version of this (called the Rogue) at the Syracuse Auto Show and was quite impressed with it - especially the roughly $30K (U.S.) price point. It is definitely on my list of contenders for new vehicles to replace my current 2013 Honda CR-V. And Tish, love the outfit you wore for this review. 😉(nice legs, sweetie!) 😘❤
As an American it really makes me wonder why these manufacturers make such similar cars for different markets because over here we have the Nissan Murano and the Rogue but we don't have this.... I don't understand why they make different cars for different regions when it seems like we have the equivalent of that car but it's just different but it's basically the same size Nissan suv/cross over.... it just seems like a really weird business model to make such similar cars for different countries. Because I'm sure if this was offered in America people would buy it but then I guess they would be competing with themselves if they did offer this.... jjst strange how they only make certain models for certain countries for reasons that are not so obvious to me.
Take a look at the Nissan UK website: You only get the horrible brown (umbra leather) on the Tekna. You sure you didnt drive the Tekna model, not the Tekna Plus? I like the 19inch alloy wheels like the ones on your video, but you cannot choose 19 inch wheels and black interior trim. Tekna + has 20'' wheels and black interior trim.
I had the 2018 J11 Qashqai, then Nissan had a complete revamp of the design for 2021 and now just three years later another big change to the design of the vehicle. Alright if you're leasing but not great if you're purchasing. I'd rather go with a Land Rover Evoque

Additionally the tiny 2.1kWh battery means the generator is almost always on charging the battery or generating power for the electric motor-noise, vibration and revs detached from how fast or how much work the car might actually be doing.
3.5miles/kWh is a typically EV efficient. You can see a 2.1kWh battery would give 7 miles!!
