  • This video shows step-by-step how to setup the Improved Combat Shelter (ICS) Army Tent.
** This Tent Is For Sale! ** $195 plus actual shipping costs.
    Continental United States, only.
The Army's ORC Improved Combat Shelter - One person, four season tent. Never issued.
If you're looking for a bomb-proof tent that will keep you safe and dry in practically any environment... this is it!
Features bathtub floor, full black out (so you can sleep in it during the day) rain fly, stakes, poles, patch kit... everything you need. In excellent unused condition.
This is perfect for stealth camping or just great fun for the kids.
    Sets up easily.
These tents are getting hard to find... especially in "never issued" condition.
Used only once in the backyard to function test. I'm too tall and too old for this tent.

The holes for the tent r not for Stakes but two possible height possibilities by placing the poles close or further away which in the holes. The tent will go up or stay lower depending on which hole u use. It's a stealth option. The two holes give the choice of a higher up tent or lower to the ground tent.. The stakes go into the loops the fabric loops in each corner. I know all about this tent. And don't clip ur poles till their in each corner hole all plugged in then start clipping each clip tot the pole. Then stake out the four corners. Then put on the rainfly and finish.

It is alot easier to set up if you cross the poles over tent as you did but go to one of the short sides and place both poles in the straps. Then go to the opposite short side and stand the poles up while placing the other ends in the straps. At this point clip one tent clip on each pole. This will hold them in position while you continue to hook the others up. The way I saw risks tearing the clips as it puts alot of tension on them while you bend the poles. Learned from experience

I just bought a few of these tents, and think the poles should be inserted into the outer holes, and then the stakes through the inner holes. That seems to lessen the chance wind can "work" the stakes free by exerting lift on the rain fly. I'm going to try it both ways to see which is "more better".

Thank You!!!! I recently bought one of these off eBay and my assembly did not go nearly so well. Setting the tent up is indeed easy. But sliding those damn shock corded poles they the sleeves of the rain fly were a MAJOR struggle. I’m thinking perhaps I put the rain fly over the tent buckled at each corner BEFORE I tried to slip the poles in the sleeve! Until I saw your video I was going to sell this thing for sure and now I am persuaded to try to set it up at least one more time. Mine came with no instructions at all.

Some useful tips. 1. I didn't have a bucket big enough to hand wash, so I put it inside my clothes washer with the lid up and the temperature set to warm. It stopped when full. I then hand washed it without allowing it to agitate. Otherwise something might catch and tear. Then I move the timer around to the spin cycle to give it a head start on drying. That was so easy, I did it three times. Then I hung it up in the shower to dry. 2. The coated material in one of the sleeves was sticking together, making it impossible to insert the rod. I used a blue Pex pipe (used for plumbing) to force it open with less danger of tearing. Putting Vaseline worked well for keeping the sleeve material from sticking together again. 3. If you have a problem with a bad smell that's not eliminated by washing, try putting the tent in a freezer for a couple of days. That should kill the bacteria responsible for the smell.

Good first attempt your mistake is you put the polls up first before you conect the tent via the clips to the pole , this makes it easier when outside and there's wind second your right that loop at the top of the tent is for a line not realy to put the tent pole through . I use that to tie a line too to throw over a tree branch or overhead line to lift the tent up to dry if its gotten wet open the tent door fully first so if any water or dampness has gotten inside while pulling pole

Went on a solo camping trip in Trinidad, CO September of last year. A large thunderstorm rolled in as the sun went down one night. 65 mph winds and rain splashing against the side but this tent was a rock. No rain entered the tent, the side bracing the wind conformed to my body due to deflection from wind. It was scary, but the tent was durable and definitely a go-to for solo camping.

Morning mate, with any new kit the more you use it the easiest way of putting it up. Tbh you should do it outside in the wind an rain. Or with gloves on. But thank you for your time an sharing. That would be great tent for a winter stealth camp. 🇺🇸🙏🇬🇧👍😁

Personally, I think the rain fly should be reversed, so that the vestibule is outside the large or "main" opening, with the open side of the rain fly placed on the side with the small opening, which is primarily for ventilation. That way a soldier can access his pack shoved to the left of the vestibule area, and a hard rain can't impact the large opening directly. But I do think the tent poles need to engage the inner holes on the corner tie-down straps with the stakes driven through the outer hole, which allows the zippers to function better.

Can the rainfly/outer shell of the tent be double poled?
How does this tent do in winter/cold/storm?
Regarding the double holed straps in the corner of the tent. From what I understand/researched, they're not meant for staking out. When the poles are placed in the holes closest to the tent this allows for more internal head room. When the poles are place in the outside holes the tent has a lower profile and is best/meant for wind and severe weather.

Since nobody ever answered you, the tent is excellent for winter. The side facing away from the fly is lined with black waterproof and wind proof material that also blocks light. The light blocking is so Soldiers can use lights inside without being seen by the enemy. Also, Soldiers sleeping during the day because they work nights can have darkness to sleep in. Anyway, this makes it a four season tent. My only complaint is I personally prefer a two person tent so this tent can be cramped and claustrophobic to me, but it’s definitely good for winter. Even the camouflage pattern works well in snow.

    • @tmobarak
      @tmobarak 5 місяців тому

Use the folded poles as a guide for the “not to exceed” length. Tri-fold the tent to that dimension and roll the poles up in the tent so they don’t rattle. Grab the rain fly at the point and make a triangle of it. Keep making triangles until the big end is the width of the poles. Start at the point and roll it up into a roll. Now they will all fit…

The fly pole goes through the center loop. That's why there is a gap in the fabric sleeve.

Was it just me or was the fly crooked? Had overhang on the right but the left was even with the tent body. I have seen 5 of these videos now, and you unknowingly solved the problem twice over that other people gripe about which is no head room to sit up. The inner holes for the tent poles and the top loop are critical for head room. I haven't got mine in the mail yet...but seeing you hold the sack made my back ache.

  • @joecantwell7064

Very accurate set up instructions, however the tent pols should go into the furthest hole, otherwise when you clip the fly on, it folds the strap up making it unable to stake. Otherwise, great video. I love my ICS.
