Recently buzzr-tv aired a tournament of champions episode in which Marcia Wallace correctly guessed Olivia Newton-John as the answer to the puzzle with just physical as the clue. A perplexed Bill Cullen asked what does physical have to do with Olivia Newton-John and Bert Convy had to explain to him that was the title of one of her big hits.
i guess im randomly asking but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the password. I would love any assistance you can give me
@@naomibowman6065 I may have come across the episode this was from at some point, but I honestly forget if you ever made it to the bonus game or not. Whether or not you actually did, this amazing moment definitely had to be worth the trip to the studio for you in itself.
The celebrities playing on the successful guessing teams: Tonya Crowe, Daphne Maxwell-Reid, Tom Poston, Paul Kreppel, Vicki Lawrence, Vicki again (Her contestant, Jim Bontempo, won $76K here and eventually appeared on HOLLYWOOD SQUARES about 10 years later.), Lindsay Bloom, Lindsay again (I think it was the very next puzzle.), Vicki again, Vicki 1 more time.
+graperonto They just aired that one today on Buzzr. It was from the 12/25/1984 episode (I'm not an encyclopedia of this stuff -- they happened to mention it was Christmas Day of 1984 during the show).
My favorite was when LINDA when teamed up with Nathan Cook WON the game by guessing BO DEREK from the only clue SEXY on the board. That could’ve been any answer but she guessed right!!
Password is a great game. The old 50’s black & white versions didn’t have the 5 matched words adding up to the big guess. Game improved over the decades. Now the only thing they need to do to improve the game is a fun jingle if guesses are correct. The 80s version with Bert was just bells ringing. Let’s get something like the Family Feud jingle or the $25K Pyramid jingle that was so uplifting.
I really enjoyed the "Tobacco" solution (02:45). Monkey comes close, it give that contest a trip to the Super Password (formerly Alphabetics) end game (02:19).
It is interesting that the Dick Clark puzzle mentions ONLY the NBC show that he did. It does not mention the CBS or ABC shows that he did. _Super Password_ was on NBC.
I’ve watched those 10 1-Clue Guesses on Super Password over and over. Bert Convy’s reactions are classic. One question: How did those stars and contestants get the puzzle right on the first guess? Brilliant! Kenneth A Huang 7/28/22
I think the timing of the program puzzle also contributes to the correct guess e.g. Cheers would be on your mind because of the then-recent changeover, A Chorus Line would be on your mind because of its recent or final run
Surprised that after all this time, no-one has pointed out that Ted, beginning at ua-cam.com/video/1DrT6gb0ups/v-deo.html , not only managed the one-guess feat with his partner, but managed it _twice in a row_, in their _first two rounds of play_! No wonder he had the reaction he did after the second, where he finally gasped, 'How?!' Burt Convy: 'Now cut that out!'
Obviously I didn't guess any because it's a product of it's time. That notwithstanding, the sheer knowledge/luck these contestants have, I'll never have it!
Nona Leibl I still haven't found it yet. Do you remember approximately the month and year which the episode occurred? If not, who were the celebrities on that episode?
The first one I didn't get until I remembered Shelly Long. Still, that's really out of left field since Long is a common word too. Danson you'd guess that, but Long?
Shelly Long was the actress that played on Cheers back then, and then Kirstie Alley took over later. To me that was an amazing guess like many of these.
I haven't seen the episode but it's possible someone used "Shelley" to help get Long and that put the idea in her head. I've seen something like that happen a few times. Still a great guess!
Those are incredible, even I'd be surprised with that! But, I can't help but wonder if that contestant, Ted (the one whose puzzles were TOBACCO and PIZZA) was that awesome contestant on The New $25,000 Pyramid...

@Jad Theo instablaster ;)
Bahahaha! After the "DICK CLARK" answer, the contestant said, "I knew it wasn't you, Bert!"
Bert was still annoyed he didn't get to be on 'The $25,000 Pyramid'.
Brad G That was me over 33 years ago!! Hahaha!!

@naomibowman6065 I love it when you said, "I knew it wasn't you, Bert."
I love and miss Bert Convy
I don't know why but he annoyed the heck out of me

Yes...gone way too soon, only 8 days before what would have been his 58th birthday.
I loved him, too! He also did a fabulous job hosting CBS's "Tattletales" and the syndicated "Win, Lose or Draw".
With them bringing back Password, they're devoting the first episode to Betty White. She would have been thrilled to see her favorite game return.
Allen Ludden would be thrilled too.
@@cutemimi25 Amen.
Happy birthday 🎂
Bert's face at 2:34... that's priceless!

These are the only people who can reveal the puzzle before Bert does.
Lol
Lol
OOOOOHHHHHHHH! WHAT A BURN!
*tosses the roll of tape*
I liked the music cue they used when a constant hit $500 to go to the bonus round. 0:12
I do too
Same here!!
Goodson Productions were great at themes and cues. Very watchable TV!
Bert's reaction was top notch.
It's amazing how this video is just a rip off of other videos put together on YT, nice work.
I'm watching this again... the guy who guessed MTV, for a brief moment, I thought he looked like Ricky Schroeder.
I remember guessing that one correctly when I watched it originally!
I greatly enjoyed watching this video. Those were some excellent puzzle guesses.
Vicki Lawrence must be the lucky charm.
0:10 winning bell sounds,win cue,cheers and applause
It just puts a smile on a lot of people’s faces.
Burt was the best host he just had a good time no matter what
and all of the other game-show hosts were absolutely miserable?
YES HE IS A FUN HOST
YES HE IS
My personal favorite was when Marcia Wallace got Norman Mailer from the single clue "naked".
My favourite is still when Jamie Farr saw "SINGER" and said the answer was "SEWING MACHINE" I've never found it on UA-cam.

They should've given a bonus to anyone who gets it on one clue.
0:25 *G O R G E O U S*
Bert Convy, the king of agape!
At 2:24 Bert Convy Didn't Say: "For The Win!"
Nice editing together of other UA-cam videos
I remember one other such instance, in which the puzzle was "TAFFY" and the sole revealed clue was "sticky."
I really enjoyed the "Tobacco" solution (02:45). Monkey comes close, it give that contest a trip to the Super Password (formerly Alphabetics) end game (02:19).

2:33 That look says it all. 😮
Vicki Lawrence Wins! Flawless Victory! Fatality!
I always liked the cue they played when the contestant won the game with a score over 500 points.
I did, too.
Oh my God, that's Gary Perez at the end!
I’ve watched those 10 1-Clue Guesses on Super Password over and over. Bert Convy’s reactions are classic.

I have, too.
At 1:17, the password is "mullet."
That's sooooooo 80s LOL.

He had my name but with one R instead of 2 like how I spell it and he looked like Rick Schroeder from silver spoons
Loved this game
Luv this show..

I did it too - 17. Clue: "Colorado" Me: Denver....is it Omelette? Dingdingding
2:57 Could it be Tobacco?

Bert Convy was surprised.
When the camera cuts away before I can see what I'm looking at. Thanks?
Ted took a bow, after that one clue.
They solve the puzzle before the host could screw it up again.👍😁😎
i love this
The guy Gary who won the last puzzle was on the Willis Goes To College episode in the last season of Diff'rent Strokes
he died of suicide in 2019 according to IMDB:(
2:34 the original pogchamp
Rip Bert Convy
at 1:14 the contestant Diane looks a lot like Mary Tyler Moore!
That Tobacco 🍕 guy was also on Pyramid with BIlly Crystal and Lynn Redgrave.
Today, MTV will use a lot different clues. Only cable and station will stay there.
the 1st 4th & 6th ones were walk-off wins
Obviously I didn't guess any because it's a product of it's time. That notwithstanding, the sheer knowledge/luck these contestants have, I'll never have it!
Nothing will ever match "Saturday" -> "Chevy Chase"
Can you please find MOUSE in the one-clue guess?
Nona Leibl I still haven't found it yet. Do you remember approximately the month and year which the episode occurred? If not, who were the celebrities on that episode?
I don't know if somebody remembered Mighty MOUSE.
Can someone find a one-clue guess which says "Is it Mouse? (dinging) (gasps, audience cheering wildly) OOOOHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! (laughs)"?
Nona Leibl How did you come up with that!?
Can you find the mouse video for me? I'm nervous.
That one contestant Gary, looks like Ricky Schroder.
Bert Convy got confused.
1:18 is where I couldn’t decide whether to go forwards and say zero or backwards and say two.
There was also: "Dill". The solution was "Pickle".
Naomi guess that Dick Clark puzzle.
Unreal
I remember I hugged one Naomi at church.
On all the puzzles-WHAT??
The first one I didn't get until I remembered Shelly Long. Still, that's really out of left field since Long is a common word too. Danson you'd guess that, but Long?
Right?
How do you get Cheers from Long?
Shelly Long was the actress that played on Cheers back then, and then Kirstie Alley took over later. To me that was an amazing guess like many of these.
And even if spotted "TV Show" by BC, I would have guessed 60 MINUTES on "long"
I would NEVER guessed Cheers with just Long (though I know that Shelley Long was Diane in that show)
This was the 80s and it was a big show at the time.
Diane, I could see guessing Cheers, but Long? That was really out of left field.
@@Paulafan5 it’s almost like if someone would guess The Golden Girls with just Rose
I haven't seen the episode but it's possible someone used "Shelley" to help get Long and that put the idea in her head. I've seen something like that happen a few times. Still a great guess!
@@Paulafan5 could easily be Howie or Island
I got Chorus Line and pizza.
they must be psychic
There’s another one clue guess, Bill Cosby
REALLY? That one guy's name P-Sazz?
WOW. COOOOOOOL
Who's the celebrity who guessed Cheers? I don't recognize her.
Tonya Crowe from "Knots Landing" she played Abby's daughter.
In order to get George from the word 'gorgeous', that guy HAD to be a fan of professional wrestling (Gorgeous George).
Vicki Lawrence was partners with two of them.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Buzzr Did This
Ted needs to calm down.
Check Tom Poston pulse please.
I would've never guessed George
George was the easiest one of the bunch.
I know. Although Gorgeous George was once the name of a wrestler, I would have thought of somebody else.
BERT GREAT HOST GREAT GUY
only one I got was trout and pizza
i call bs on the first one .. how on earth would u guess cheers from the word long ?
How the f***??
Those are incredible, even I'd be surprised with that! But, I can't help but wonder if that contestant, Ted (the one whose puzzles were TOBACCO and PIZZA) was that awesome contestant on The New $25,000 Pyramid...
