There are two things that I absolutely love about that last one: #1- Bob totally nails that moment as a host. #2- Susan has that look on her face that says, "There's no fuckin' way I'm winning this."
@@idanoreilly - Back in the 1970's, it was a lot tougher to edit and get the episode lengths to a specified time range. It's 1000x easier to edit the show length down to the exact seconds nowadays in the digital age. My guess is they were over on time for that episode and he had to rush in the end.

@@Blueguy72 .. There's a difference between cash and prizes. With prizes, the taxes must be paid in advance. Since most don't have the ten or fifteen thousand in cash to pay taxes, most will accept a much lower consolation prize instead.
And then a few weeks later on best of 2013 a woman became the biggest winner in Price is Right history. I just loved this video of a bunch of DSW. Thank you so much for posting it. Take care.
@Teisted Jedi(open): Over 30 years ago, when I was a teen, I saw one such show; an old lady bid in Contestant's Row something like $850, and this young guy on her left bid $851. She then proceeded to pull out some mini baseball bat from her purse, to which Bob Barker asked: "Why do you have that out?" She replied, "Because of people like HIM!"
Someone actually shoved another contestant for doing that. I don't blame her either. If you're going to one-up a bit the LEAST you could do is give them $5 breathing room.
I have never like the $1 more bid. The most annoying is when they are not even paying attention and Bob or Drew have to literally scream at them. They ask what is the highest bid, bid $1 more and win.
@@sandal_thong8631 there was one in the 1970s that someone guessed the exact price of the showcase and in December 16 2008 someone named Terry got the exact price of the showcase. I watched that episode when Terry got it right on the money. Drew knew, that's why he spoke with no enthusiasm. This man was killing it the whole game and revealed that he actually studied the show for years despite being accused of cheating.
I felt bad for him because he worked incredibly hard to learn and memorize all those prizes and got an exact bid! Regardless of how he got there, it was an incredible win and made history on the show. Drew should’ve been excited for him and let him have his moment. Excellent job of you putting this together and especially saving the "best for last." I knew the woman on the left was going to win or Bob would have gone to her first. How stunning!
I still remember one little old black lady who was really short. When Bob said, "You win both showcases!" it was like she vanished because she passed out and fell behind the podium!
At 9:51, that's a historic moment! I bet Bob wished he could've been there for that. Sharon had a difference of $494 and Terry probably thought she'd beaten him but then he found out his bid left him with a difference of exactly ZERO! I like how Terry's going, "What?! What?! What?!" Terry can't believe that not only that did he win both showcases but that he got the bid EXACTLY RIGHT! That's his moment to shine. A difference of $0! You can't do any better than that!
+Alexander Edward Pytko believe it or not its been rumored that Terry "strategically" bid for his prizes to get the exact price by studying all previous showcases. I'm sure there was some luck involved, but he did an interview later on and said that he did in fact study common price is right goods to get their actual retail price!
The reason Drew wasn't enthusiastic was because they delayed the reveal for a really long time, apparently like 90 minutes to find out if Terry cheated or not. They couldn't find any evidence and Drew was tired of waiting.
About the last DSW. The key is this: the double showcase winners are ALWAYS announced last. Thus, since both got the double, the person on the left gets it because she is the last to be announced.
@@StarZendonna1687 Yeah but in Drew"s defense, the entire staff thought that they were being rolled and that Terry cheated. Because of that, Drew believed that the show wouldn't see the light of day and so he acted accordingly.
Everybody including the production staff thought Terry cheated, he won the Golden Road earlier The truth was, preparation meets opportunity. Terry has a photographic memory (1), (2) he used to be the Weatherman for a TV station in FLA, he's not a dummy (3) he recorded the last several years of PIR and re-watched them. He noticed the same prizes were given away every so often. Everybody knows that but he put together and bid perfect to get on stage. That was his 2nd or 3rd trip to the show from Las Vegas though. You can read all about it online.
They suspected it, but turns out he didn't cheat. He was just very strategic and calculated in his bidding. They figured out the system and used it to their advantage. Price is Right changed their system after that.
Boy that would've been awkward at 8:22 if the girl in the audience screamed at the mention of just "Thirteen thousand" and then the bid turned out to be an overbid.
The perfect bid is painful to watch; one of the rare failures in TPIR production. The show was stopped for 45 minutes to investigate before the winner was actually revealed; it should have been treated like a genuine win to get the real reaction and THEN they can figure out what happened.

I do feel especially bad for the lady at the end that was off by $30 and lost. I also remember the Every Room showcase back in the day. Back then, people lost graciously though and the losing lady at the end had class. I enjoyed this. Thank you for sharing.
I made myself listen closer and Drew even said under his breath that it hasn’t happened since 72 or 73. You were right
The one at 10:00 that guy was demolishing every game because he did a ton of research and prepared for it like crazy. Drew thought he was cheating the entire game which is why he doesn't sound excited at all but they figured out he was just really good
Yeah, Drew was not prepared for that shit 😂
They stopped taping for 45 minutes. Drew was probably done.
And that is exactly why the game show industry is dead. Accusations of game show rigging will never end.
ua-cam.com/video/HdFKZtZop7A/v-deo.html This video here goes over how Terry got the exact bid and he wasn't the one who knew the exact price.
@@RobMoldovan Thanks for that link. It was a pretty interesting watch. Crazy that someone went to those lengths to be good at The Price is Right!
Watching this in 2020, is it just me or were the showcases worth a whole lot more back then?
There are two things that I absolutely love about that last one:
#1- Bob totally nails that moment as a host.
#2- Susan has that look on her face that says, "There's no fuckin' way I'm winning this."
Bob was in a huge hurry!!
Also, the value of the showcases. $2,200 and $4k LOL. Winning the Double Showcase was less than any current TPIR game.
Thx for posting this, I love Bob and this show! Watching in 2021 in Ontario, Canada
this is great actually! thanks for taking the time to put it together!
utkgrad101 Thanks I truly appreciated!
I swear it looks like Vicky-Ann has a mild stroke right after Bob says "89 thousand"
I love bobs reaction 2 wen he reads the actual retail price. Full of surprising feeling and excitement going on!! With drew...hes just weak and boring like hes always pissed or having a bad day
To be fair, all the clips shown were from when Drew was just starting. Nowadays his reactions feel a little more genuine; still not as good as Bob’s reactions, but still with more emotion
Drew is not a good game show host. He should have stuck with WLIIA which requires no skill what so ever.
Especially when that contestant hit it right on the nose! He sounded bored and you could barely hear him!
@@Nettiezoo i no! I would of love 2 hear bobs excitement 4 that. But noooo drew had 2 keep it sooo boring
Bob was a more exciting host. Drew despite hosting for 13 years remains boring as ever.
I really enjoy these when they happen on the show! Thanks for compiling them! Really enjoyed it!
My Pleasure
Could you imagine going home saying I did within $800 of my showcase and lost.... 🥺
Well, didn't the person win some stuff anyway?
Wow! Some of the best compilations of DSW. Thanks for sharing.
*......and every one of these winners are STILL paying taxes on their prizes to this day!*
Not necessarily. I won $10,000 in Oregon State Lottery a few months ago and had 25% taken out for federal taxes and 7% state income tax taken right off the top. I just filed my taxes and got about half of that back...
RockinRob69 i won the showcase in October 2019. The taxes were not terrible. But those free prizes are certainly not free😂
@TheHomeMediaCollector Productions Whom are you talking too?
@@Blueguy72 .. There's a difference between cash and prizes. With prizes, the taxes must be paid in advance. Since most don't have the ten or fifteen thousand in cash to pay taxes, most will accept a much lower consolation prize instead.
@@dwightstewart7181 I heard that some didn't have the tax money, but thought they had to sell their prize. What about loans, cc or mortgage?
And then a few weeks later on best of 2013 a woman became the biggest winner in Price is Right history. I just loved this video of a bunch of DSW. Thank you so much for posting it. Take care.
Thank you for posting. ☺️
You're Welcome
That was both a very enjoyable and well-created video.
I’m waiting for a fight when one contestant bids over another contestant by a dollar in contestants row.
Let's see clips of when someone was overbid by $1 but got the price exactly right! I remember seeing that at least once
@@sandal_thong8631 there was one in the 1970s that someone guessed the exact price of the showcase and in December 16 2008 someone named Terry got the exact price of the showcase. I hope someone has the one in the 1970s that someone guessed the exact price of the showcase. I you do send me a link of the episode
Love the last one. Never seen that before. Great collection.
That was my very first visit to The Price Is Right when Erik had a difference of 240 and won both showcases
How could you visit again if you had come down?
@@sha11235 you can visit as much as you want if you're in LA and reserve a spot in the audience. It's not hard to do.
@@neferazure If you were on the show as a contestant, you can't come on again. You can come back if you weren't picked to come on down.
Boy this is great im getting chills..
Bells and whoops sounds, are the sounds of victory.
This is perfect for quarantine viewing
I remember Bob always saying "If you are the winner and you are LESS than $100 away...", not $100 or less.. In other words, a difference of $99 won both showcases, but a difference of $100 did not..
That actually happened.
Thanks that was great to see. I remember watching the last one(when it aired in ‘75 ) where the differences were only $1 apart !
So much fun to see these! Drew Carey was so UNDERWHELMING in his early years.... he had NONE of Bob Barker's enthusiasm but has improved a little.
Ya, the guy gets it exactly right and he barely shows any emotion.
It takes awhile to get used to doing this show.
@@my3dviews To be fair the producers initially thought he cheated to get that price right on the nose so there was a LOT of suspicion surrounding that bid (though they had no proof to back up their claims). And needless to say, Drew, being the rookie TPIR host that he was at the time, was NOT prepared for such an event to happen. Lol
@@cameraredeye3115 How could he have cheated? That would require that an insider gave him the info.
@@my3dviews They thought someone in the crowd(his wife?) was giving him answers somehow and stopped taping to ensure he didn't actually cheat.

Truly, even if Drew expected him of cheating, he should have been excited on the show for the audience to get hyped up
Drew has explained this several times in interviews, he was shocked, at first they didn't think the episode would even air, he said if he'd known it would have, he'd have been more enthusiastic about it. At the time, he was terrified he was going to go down as the guy who killed TPiR.
It's Michael Larson's run on Press Your Luck all over again. It's not cheating if you study the show beforehand.
@@leandar It's called being a professional.
Even if it was a 1 in a million moment, Drew should have conducted himself in case the show Did air; which it did.
Great compilation...thanks for posting
All of these folks screaming with glee. Yet they don't realize they have to PAY THE TAXES. or no prizes
I'm sure I remember seeing that time in 73 when someone got it exactly right. It's a little fuzzy, as I was two years old.
It's kinda cool when DSW happens
My Favorite price is right moment was: When Grandma said sit next to me on the couch. I later in life knew I was a great winner because Grandma hugged me through the show.
I'm surprised of the lack of enthusiasm from Drew on the exact bid...
I wasn't Kris it sounded like to me he didn't wanted to be there.
@@StarZendonna1687 and thanks to UA-cam's algorithm...I'm now being offered a movie about the player who knew too much...and I think it's about that guy
I Saw on UA-cam documentary, that the guy who did the exact bid was , With drew not looking so enthusiastic that he heard in his ear that they new something was going on, He also won a lot of money on the other game show whammy, Sorry Press your luck... If you look up his name you will find a documentary about his full story and how he did it , Some saying, practicing watching And remembering every price of everything which would have to have And expert memory, Just look at up his name on UA-cam for the documentary injoy be safe guys thanks
That last one was absolutely wild. Wow.
A Fisher Well, nothing wrong with doing your homework to win.
The reason Drew wasn't enthusiastic was because they delayed the reveal for a really long time, apparently like 90 minutes to find out if Terry cheated or not. They couldn't find any evidence and Drew was tired of waiting.
Jason McGraw Well, yeah. Terry studied a lot of showcases and there's no rule against that. He came to the show prepared.
Alexander Edward Pytko Yep, I didn't say he did anything wrong.
I #Love the perfect bid!!!!!
I was at the one when Vicky Ann broke the record
She's in the 2007 book about the Price is Right history.
About the last DSW. The key is this: the double showcase winners are ALWAYS announced last. Thus, since both got the double, the person on the left gets it because she is the last to be announced.
9:50 really enthusiastic Drew!
That's why I don't watch TPIR as much anymore because of that
@@StarZendonna1687 Yeah but in Drew"s defense, the entire staff thought that they were being rolled and that Terry cheated. Because of that, Drew believed that the show wouldn't see the light of day and so he acted accordingly.
@@professor0526 CDSW, controversial Double Showcase Win.
@@StarZendonna1687 like one said, they thought they cheated. I will agree, drew didn’t get it in his early years, but, he’s got so much better at it.
Wait till the IRS gets ahold of them. You don't get the prices to you pay the taxes and if you can't pay the taxes you don't get anything
Drew Carey didn't seem that enthusiastic about the contestant who got the exact bid. Perhaps he suspected there was some cheating going on?
Everybody including the production staff thought Terry cheated, he won the Golden Road earlier The truth was, preparation meets opportunity. Terry has a photographic memory (1), (2) he used to be the Weatherman for a TV station in FLA, he's not a dummy (3) he recorded the last several years of PIR and re-watched them. He noticed the same prizes were given away every so often. Everybody knows that but he put together and bid perfect to get on stage. That was his 2nd or 3rd trip to the show from Las Vegas though. You can read all about it online.
There’s a documentary about the whole thing, I think it’s called the perfect bid, and what it puts forth as the truth will surprise you.
@@OlentangyThe There was serious concern among the staff that CBS would not allow the Dec. 10, 2008 _Price is Right_ episode to air.
He essentially broke the system that day. They change prizes for showcases a lot more often now
They suspected it, but turns out he didn't cheat. He was just very strategic and calculated in his bidding. They figured out the system and used it to their advantage. Price is Right changed their system after that.
the taxes afterwards yikes lol
I wasn't even born when that last bid happened LOL
The last one is absolutely unbelievable, wow!
That last clip wow from one dollar. Wow lol
Phenomenal Bidding! 🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈
Boy that would've been awkward at 8:22 if the girl in the audience screamed at the mention of just "Thirteen thousand" and then the bid turned out to be an overbid.
5:48 - That was until October 2019 when Michael Strouber won $262,742. Including $202,000 on Plinko.
5:23 FTW. That's probably just about how I'd react, too. And taking it from a guy who was only $802 off? Like a boss.
Great work. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
BEST SCENE EVER!
The perfect bid is painful to watch; one of the rare failures in TPIR production. The show was stopped for 45 minutes to investigate before the winner was actually revealed; it should have been treated like a genuine win to get the real reaction and THEN they can figure out what happened.
