i've had mine for over a year and it has never failed to open. sometimes i have to shake it a little after i press the button but after that it opens up on it's own. i'm close to 6 feet and it's a little small, but it keeps the vast majority of me dry other than my shins and feet, which get wet. only complaint about it is that the facets rusted on mine, and there are now rust stains underneath the umbrella from where they touch it, albeit they have no affected it's function yet. i contacted the manufacturer through amazon too and they sent me a new one at no charge! or even proof that my old one really did rust (it did)!
Dude you are closing it the hard way, place your hand on top and push down.
Great review, any updates on the reliability?

no problems whatsoever, durability is awesome
Bad luck to open an umbrella in a indoor room 😊
