Moments like that just have to be filmed because no one would believe it otherwise, utterly wonderful.
Hugh’s facial expressions are hilarious 😂
The UA-cam algorithm is an enigma wrapped in another enigma.. in greek.
...backwards.
Ο αλγόριθμος UA-cam είναι ένα αίνιγμα τυλιγμένο σε άλλο αίνιγμα.
Oh! - you weren't asking for it in Greek. My bad.
Emil kruke...
I'm keeping my eyes on you...
The look on Hugh's face as he realises he is actually playing piano with Jools is brilliant! Not knocking Hugh's ability, but Jools is well.... Jools!
EXACTLY !!!
His hands look more like pianist's hands than Jools Holland's.
@@SuperAllanjames Jools has said he could never have made it as a concert pianist due to his small hands, but they turned out to be well adapted for boogie woogie.
@@grahamkey8496 A rather silly thing to say considering all the Asian pianists these days.
I don't think it's about outright ability, it's more to do with the fact Jools Holland has been improvising Boogie for decades. Hugh is on unfamiliar territory. If you put a piece of sheet music in front of them and asked them to play from the score the difficulty level would be reversed.
just seeing their faces light up makes me happy beyond explanation!
The happiness in their faces 😍
how the hell am I only finding this in 2020
Indeed
Ditto!
This is pure improvisation, that's why Jools says to Hugh "30 seconds left... 5 second left..." because they needed to fill the time 'till the next interview.
I would've never guessed! Thanks for the tip!
Amazing deduction skills!
There's nothing like a straightforward, common old IV- V - I cadence to emphasise an ending! Jazzing it up is just for fun, and appropriately in the style they were just playing. Much like a pantomime actor hamming up, and dragging out, a death scene. A great way to fill time, and end the musical segment entertainingly on T.V. Not exactly inspired improvisation, but that wasn't needed. Quick clever thinking was, to entertain musically to the break. Mission accomplished!
Well that made me giggle on a dreary Friday morning
Same!
Impossible to say how insanely happy that made me. 😊
Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!! Both are greatest!!!!
I'd like to hit my head and end up a music genius.
Weirdly, my son did that. He suddenly could compose complex music. Unfortunately, it wasn't permanent though. He eventually lost the ability. But I am very relieved that his personality and other disturbing behaviours have also settled into to being his natural self. It was somewhat akin to the old story of selling his soul to the devil, and although wondrous in parts, certainly a nightmare in others and not worth it. But I know what you mean. Instant musicality without needing talent, or years of training, would be fantastic!
ah yes, those days when two people could sit next to each other on a piano stool and make music
God how I miss those days. How I bloody miss them. I would say that of all the consequences of covid that mankind must suffer, the cruel cruel theft of the simple pleasure of sitting next to someone on a piano stool making music must surely be the hardest to bear!! It is exactly the reason I always tried so hard no to get Aids. And just look at the audience - sitting next to each other like it is the most natural thing in the world, watching piano being played! Those were the days when two or more people could sit next to each other in an audience and god how I bloody miss them. Touching their own faces with gay abandon. Rubbing at their eyes with scarcely a thought of their own mortality or how the acerbic arrow of time would inevitably scatter such freedoms to the wind. The treacherous, covid spreading wind. Ah yes, those days. Those days.
those days.
Still, could be worse I suppose. One person at a time is still allowed on a piano at least.
Are you insane? You'd almost certainly kill each other through cross-contamination. No no, none of that. Follow what the bourgeoise tell you. Kidding ovis :)
and now we have coronnie 🥺
you all probably dont care at all but does anyone know of a way to log back into an instagram account??
I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me
@Kabir Khalid Instablaster :)
I love boogie woogie in all its forms, but played well....you get this sound ❤️
Hugh laurie absolute legend. 'Bravo' shouted at an annoyingly loud pitch.
I want to sit in a dark bar, smoke 3 cigars, drink a bottle of whiskey and listen to this all night.
Wow. The chemistry between these two guys is so intense. There's so much energy flowing back and forth. You can almost imagine them afterwards, backstage, stripping down and getting ready for the ride home, standing there shirtless, feeling that same energy, the sweat rising off them into the cool night air. There'd be two cars waiting I'm sure. Two cars going back separately to two lonely hotel rooms. But they'd pause in that moment, their souls forever fused by the fire they felt on stage, feeling and breathing the physicality of this new moment, sensing how all life is connected - the physical, the musical, the spiritual - and communicating to each other with nothing more than a satisfied smile, as if they were merely passing through each other's dream. Could there be a way, one of them might wonder, to turn this connection into something new all over again? To find a new expression for that shared energy heaving in their flesh? Was there in fact another route to the soul, not yet journeyed down? But the moment would pass. They'd dress, pat each other on the back and leave. I like to think something of that moment would stay with them, and they'd always look back and wonder what might have been. Great playing from Hugh and Jools as ever.
bro what
Beautiful writing! To be critical for a moment, musical synthesis doesn't always ignite physical sexual passions. I don't know anything about Jool's Holland; this is the first time I have seen him, but I do know that Hugh Laurie is hetrosexual, and a happily married man, so that distracted from the fantasy for me. That aside, I hope you find/ have found another platform where your writing skills are appreciated. Such as fanfics, or writing your own novel. I like your careful use of words for fluency, and avoiding repetition, the magery, structure, tempo, and passion of your mini story. I like that watching this duet obviously inspired you, and the writing wasn't forced, but a natural expression. Writing and feeling music are obviously your natural elements. May you continue to be inspired, and keep writing! And thanks for sharing your wordsmithing.
👁️👄👁️
Excellent :-) I actually played with Jools myself over 20 years ago in Birmingham, he is a massively talented pianist. Hugh also, but not in the same league quite. Neither am I though!
Well that's because hes an actor and comedian first off, hes this good when it's just a hobby...not bad
Que grandeza la de Laurie al ceder su rol de lucimiento. Good for you!!!!!!!
This man has cost me a fortune in cds over the years, particularly regarding The Unthanks
GOD I miss Greg House.
HE LIVES TWO BLOCKS FROM ME.
@@MrDaiseymay and you say in what city and at what address? xD
@@MrDaiseymay please xd
@@MrDaiseymay Please! Just city, i'd check each building in it, it wouldn't be a problem.
Ok
They are having such a ball.😃
You have a trustable surname, so I will take your word for it! 😉

❤WOW phenomenal
Hughs dream came true. Uncomfortably seven years old happy
Brilliant
jools Holland is a killer.....he just sat, stopped to talk, gave Hugh Laurie a little instruction and started to play like it was the easier thing in the earth. Jesus,...i can't envy him anymore
Jools Holland's show is the last show on earth where musicans can simply play music. There is no other place for that (KD Lang(
Bellísimo 🥺❤️
Rock the "house"
Met Jools once. Nice man.
loved it, great fun

They know to roll.
0:45 - that fucking lick man. Hugh creamed in his pants.
You can kind of hear Chas Hodges all over this too. RIP Chas’n Dave. You were the greatest!

Yeah mate, when I saw that I was like woahhh this guy is too talented with the keys. He’s deffo top 30 best British pianists no doubt
Its Not lupus , its a Boogie!
Now I know who that Dalek voice belongs to! 😜 It's Jools! ("TERMINATE!!!").
DAN BOWSKILL ON THIS SHOW...REGGAE VIBES!
I agree Jools Holland is class but Hugh Laurie isn't bad either :)
You can't Shazam this shit because I think it originated from straight out of their smiling minds. Wow. Beautiful musical beauty never previously performed or arranged or written or made or constructed or seen or heard or done or conceived or invented or broadcast or filmed or recorded or listened to once before, or not as many times as it deserves to be.
house is on a different level when he has taken his meds
Hard to find actors with actual talent these days
what jazz is this
He so smart
Messy playing, but they caught the mood and had a lot of fun!
Was devastated last year when I found out Jools Holland is PRE-RECORDED NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :'( my life's been a lie
Apparently 2020/2021 was the day before new years instead of months before
Are there any videos of Hugh with Victor Borge?
That would be AMAZING.
It's a 'Mystery' why there aren't! 😉
dr house!! is not lupus!!, ups wrong show
It's a song or improvisation?
Improvisation
Impro on "roses of Picardy"
I never really liked Jools. He can certainly play though. And for an actor, Hugh is a brilliantly talented pianist too.
I couldn't even do the facial expressions.
for a musician, he's a decently talented actor
Stewart Lee has really let himself go.
Hi i from chile. I search an artist from this episode. Please tell me Whats artist have been un this episode .. Thank.
Jooles vernie
Hugh Laurie is a very good comedian. Jools Holland is a presenter.
Only took them three weeks to practice it.
I think Jools is overrated, Hugh is a much more musical player, no offence it's just my opinion.
That's a bold comment haha, I saw Jools live last year and he was absolutely brilliant. Then again, I have only listened to Hugh's album and havnt seen him live...yet!
Overrated ? I don’t think so, everyone just respects his talent, but I don’t think anyone calls him the best at it
Laurie is so talented. But he needs a beard.....
Somewhat ok, but not superbe!
Massively overrated in every way
Really?
Awful lol
Why do I have a bit of vomit come up whenever I see Jools Holland? Jus saying....
Because raw talent gives little men upset tummies.
@@ThaSlymes Nnno, definitely not that - i repect his talent! I think cos he's just so emblematic of the BBC's 'old boys club': rolled out every New Years to jolly us all up with a 'bit of boggie-woogie', held his post for ...27 years...?! So no other camera-friendly musicians have appeared and been considered by the BBC for 3 decades....?
@@getdavemoore that’s the bbc fault for not finding others. But a lot of people enjoy and want more of Jools programmes so they keep doing it. Blame BBC
dreadful
Nobody likes a show off....
Absolutely dreadful...made me cringe
You make me cringe
Overrated actor but okish piano player
U jealous of him
Yawn. And big lol at the chin strokers and nodding dogs in the background...
He's the House pianist.
Sorry guys, I just do not believe this you have two GREAT talents and after 10 years they only have 159 comments whats wrong with everyone !! I am not in there class and even I have 1,211 comments after 5 years , come on guy's you can do better than this !
Hugh Laurie is a proper super star.... I was at the concert on QM... almost, but I sure got the Vibe... it was stupendous and Magnificent all at once... like a fix it creeps up on you and blows your mind...
nitric oxide spray
Richard Roper plays piano?
I could listen to Jools all night
Loved it from the inside out!!! ❤
What is the name of the song? At the beginning Jools said "chairs..." or something like that...
He said Chas and Dave.
It's been a while since the question was asked but I've only just come across it. Although Jools says The Roses of Picardy at the end, Hugh was also riffing on Whispering.
I met jools many years ago he was warming up on a set . I didn't realise at first who was so cracked a joke . One of the nicest guys from the entertainment bunch hadn't forgotten his roots. And definitely a world class performer and gent
Stop badhing the piano
thank god for jools holland
Superb!
Why is it on you tube and we
wtf i didn't know that jools was that talented
Jules a great honky Tonk player but then that’s where it ends
I don't believe Hugh Laurie is playing the piano, how could he be, this is the BBC. Scrap the licence fee.
