Boogie Woogie / Blues is the backbone of virtually all American music. I was about six years old when I stumbled across a lone musician playing some really deep down Boogie Woogie, all alone in a room at the YMCA where I went for my Sat. swimming lessons. Good lord, so comfortable with your skill you don't have to "compete"! Great music, extraordinary talent and...and...no one had to take their clothes off. What is this world coming to?
Honestly, I'm startled by the difference in their abilities. Jools is no slouch, of course, but Dr. John is far, far more precise and in the pocket, playing licks that are far more difficult. Jools rushes like crazy. Still, incredibly fun to watch.
I first saw Jools on the Tube with Paula Yates all those years ago and didn't even know who he was. It was only when Nigel Planer came on with Young ones crew when they were doing that Spinal Tap type skit and said to Jools you were in that band that played that song and hummed some Squeeze tune, it was funny but Jools shrugged it off as though Nigels character was being childish,(as he was). I immediately gained respect for him for the musician he obviously was, though I can't remember him ever playing on the Tube,I loved Squeeze. Despite his sardonic style, and occasional on air expletive the BBC gave him more opportunities, I'm glad, as he was/is a motorcycle nut. I remember when he rode round the Mississippi Delta area on an old Brit bike, which I will forever remember when he uttered the Immortal line Harley Davidson eh,nice bike................ if your a girl! He visited Fats Domino and played a duet, you could tell as they played Fats had no idea of his talent either, he reeled back and said, MAN..... YOUR GOOOOOOD. Nice to see him displaying his talents on the other side of the pond.
Funny story: Dr. John and the Dalai Lama both received honorary doctorates from Tulane University the same day. And afterwards, with a straight face, a world leader known for his integrity and benevolence goes up to his co-recipient and says, "Does this mean we have to call you Doctor Doctor John now?"
brilliant story. Freddie Flintoff tells one where he sidestepped security to introduce himself to the Dalai Lama, and said "Ey up Del" thinking that might be short for his name.... Dalai Lama :)

boogie woogie is the most exciting music ever. thanks so much for casting. tears of joy
Check out Doña Oxford excellent performances, she's the modern queen of boogie woogie
Both brilliant but Juels is really something else, This clip was posted 11 years ago but now Dr K and Terry plus a whole host of amazing pianists can be seen and heard playbig like this all over the internet. Jules and Dr John, ahead of their time.
Amazing👏👏👏 love both John and Jools❤️❤️
I have done some precise fingering in my time...but never at my piano. Besides....it's lovely to hear and we all miss the DR. RIP.
Hahahaha
I knew Jools was good, but never realized how good he was.
He's amazing. I recommend buying or streaming some of his albums. Brilliant stuff! His collaborations with others are superb too. Enjoy!
They know what they doin! Love and miss ya Dr. already! There will never be another you.

I got to see Dr. John two times. I was two times in heaven. And so is he. And he's with Alan T. And BB King. And I could just go on and on wonderful people than must be having one hell of a good jam. I look forward to sitting there with them someday.
Unbelievable performance 🎭 👏👏👏👏
Good lord, so comfortable with your skill you don't have to "compete"! Great music, extraordinary talent and...and...no one had to take their clothes off. What is this world coming to?
Honestly, I'm startled by the difference in their abilities. Jools is no slouch, of course, but Dr. John is far, far more precise and in the pocket, playing licks that are far more difficult. Jools rushes like crazy. Still, incredibly fun to watch.
Heaven is Rocking now for sure.
Go get em Dr. John. Show heaven how its done!

Nice to see him displaying his talents on the other side of the pond.
my cousins and I would play this on grandma's piano when we were kids. 4 kids on the bench playing boogie-woogie.
Unbelievable they can be in synch.
Fantastic performance!
Bass and drums didn't miss anything either - very tight back-up
Yessiree, gotta love a snug rhythm section like that to lay the foundation.
Marcus Miller and Omar Hakim

Funny story: Dr. John and the Dalai Lama both received honorary doctorates from Tulane University the same day. And afterwards, with a straight face, a world leader known for his integrity and benevolence goes up to his co-recipient and says, "Does this mean we have to call you Doctor Doctor John now?"
That's awesome.
Jerry Connors Jr. , true?!
Wan
That would be a paradox !
brilliant story. Freddie Flintoff tells one where he sidestepped security to introduce himself to the Dalai Lama, and said "Ey up Del" thinking that might be short for his name.... Dalai Lama :)
Absolutely FANTASTIC.
Just the greatest boogie......rest in peace John.
The youtube rabbit hole again ends in gold for me!
Fantastisch, wunderbar! Vielen herzlichen Dank! 🤗👍🎶🌻
Geniales!!! Que músicos!!! admiración total, el mundo no está perdido mientras exista gente como ellos
Dr. John ya falleció..
@@yoguivanrell6549 una gran pena
That little interlude from Doc John is smooth as butterrrrrrr
Espectacular, fuera de serie.
What a Great Performance! I was eating my Popeye's Chicken and Red Beans and Rice. I was thinking about Mardi Gras and how the Mayor closed Bourbon Street Down for Phat Tuesday! I was there right before Covid-19 hit, the year before (2020). I was in the mood for some New Orleans Boogie Woogie. My old Friend Jay? was a manager for a National Chain of Nightclubs featuring Dueling Pianists! I saw Jay in Cincinnati Ohio, New Orleans Louisiana (on Bourbon Street) and at The Beach Place Mariott Hotel (Time Share) in Fort Lauderdale Florida! I love the Dueling Pianists! I was dancing while sitting just now.! This was beautiful!
How can anyone dislike this. Geniuses at work people!!
This is just utterly brilliant. And Steve Jordan and Charlie Drayton make it that much better.
Algo especial, buenísimo, inmortal
