  • This is a new pack that I'm trying out this year. It is the molle 2 ruck. A lot like the ILBE with a few differences.

I'm a sucker for rucksacks. Have 13 of them: molle standard woodland, molle standard desert, new molle multicam, ilbe, molle 4000. I currently use my molle 2 standard in woodland camo for camping, used to use my ilbe. It has the separate sleep system carrier. All in all, though, I like all the rucksacks. Previously used the ILBE, but I like being able to access sleep system at bottom of bag.

I'm a new sub Wolf. Great vid! I just received two Molle II Ruck pack from my brother in law as well as two MSS sleeping bags. Thanks for the tips on how you go about packing your Ruck and how to cinch everything at the end. Looking forward to seeing all your vids.

I can't believe your in short sleeves. Its supposed to be -2 tonight. I have a water filter that I might need to do a video on. It is a gravity filter with its own container. Great vid man.

The bucket in the bag is a great idea!! What I think would be an even brighter idea would be a stainless steel bucket of the same size to accomplish more tasks with,, like being able to throw the stainless bucket on a fire !! Cool you learn something new every day!!

I have had more than 10 ILBE and MOLLE II packs as I live near an Army Surplus store. I was ecstatic about the ILBE at first, but eventually after examining a few used ones, I found many weak points.
I you look closely at the ILBE shoulder straps you will find they are absolutely worthless. Weakest point on those packs and not an area to take lightly. I have noticed the stitching is weak on the ILBE packs. At this point I wouldnt own one except to possible mount onto a MOLLE II frame.
As for the MOLLE II packs, I cant tell you how well they have held up for me, I have heard about broken frames but have never experienced it , I think this is caused by abuse from soldiers who have no investment in their issued gear and carelessly throw them around.
Ive had Woodland, ACU and MULTICAM models and used them vigorously.
I can mount the sustainment pouches anywhere on the packs, I love the whole MOLLE II concept. Superior to anything out there. The only thing that comes close is a British Dennison Bergen. Very well made and clever design.
I have nothing bad to say about the MOLLE II packs. They are affordable, often as low as 30.00 on Craigslist.
Your MOLLE II pack will serve you well if you care for it with even a shred of effort.

I couldn't agree more. The more I've used this pack the more I love it. I don't intend on going back to the ILBE

Your videos are inspiring. Ill probably put most of them on my Survival playlist. Your love for your daughter is obvious and in the end will be the most important time you ever spent. You are obviously a man of great honor and commitment and it is my great fortune that you have shared so much with the community.
Hats off to you and my respects.

What you referred to as molle pockets on the sides are sustainment packs and are used to carry three MREs each. They are molle strapped to the pack and can come off easily. You can also purchase two more on EBay and have four on your pack, they are invaluable.

I've been using the molle ll for 5 years now for camping and hunting trips and quite honestly, for me I don't see the need for any other pack.

Bucket on the inside of the pack. I'm guessing the mop gets strapped to the outside. Consider a padded mop sleeve to protect the mops sights.

Great video. The Molle II rucksack system is a great kit. I'm currently using the medium rucksack for my INCH bag but I'm thinking about upgrading to the large rucksack. Your video gives me some ideas on how I can improve my setup. Thanks for the info.

I bought a second-hand backpack that had been in bags for a couple of years and it stinks a lot afterwards. I tried to soak it 2 times with washing gel, I also washed the backpack in the washing machine for the third time, but the smell did not completely go away. The inner lining is yellowish in color and if you start picking it with your fingernail, it starts to crumble and feels rather vile to the touch. Tell me, please, on all backpacks, this inner lining crumbles and has a rubberized base?

Great pack Justin. I have one and I love it. I also have the medium ruck (which is my pack of choice) & the assault pack...all in (OCP) Multicam. It's amazing...I noticed we both pack a lot of the same gear for camping! Nicely done review.

Thanks man. I'm really enjoying this thing. In the beginning I didn't think I was going to care for it until I found that the main pack unzipped from the sleeping section. At that point I fell in love because I could pack it the way I wanted to. You wouldn't happen to have a review on your medium ruck would you? I've heard some great things about them and wouldn't mind seeing it.

I honestly couldn't tell you for sure but I would guess between 65-75 when I'm packed for both me and my daughter and 45 when I'm by myself. I'm a strong believer in packing heavy but practicing lite. Gives you a great workout for when you might need to hump all that gear.

It's not bad if it doesn't have the side pouches on it but with them on it does catch branches. The ILBE is way better in thick brush IMO.
