      It kills KBG and its too expensive

  • @all4925
    @all4925 5 місяців тому +9

    It initially seemed like a good solution but I’m confused. If you have to wait until temperatures are in the 70s to apply it and it takes 21-28 days to kill it by then it’s probably getting into the 80s or close too it when poa is going to die anyway. On top of that there is no pre-emergent control. Then you factor in the price and it just doesn’t seem to make sense in most applications.

      For Poa annua alone, I would not recommend this product. But if you have Poa Trivialis (which is perennial), then you might want to consider it.

    The problem we have with Poa in Massachusetts is that most summers don’t get consistently hot enough to kill off poa so this is definitely a good option. The downside is that I have KBG 😭. Time to convert to TTTF.

It didn’t kill my lawn, that was good but triv laughted at it. For me to try the new concoction they would have to give me 100% money back guarantee

    Great video! I have a pretty bad poa trivialis infiltration throughout my backyard and have tried and failed to kill it off with several other methods. I'm tempted to try velocity but I am worried because my lawn is primarily Kentucky bluegrass with fine fescue. If I did try it, I would probably spot treat the areas that are primarily poa. Do you have any KBG in your lawn and do you think it would be worthwhile for me to try it?

    Hi, Vince. I've been using liquid Prodiomine. Does Barricade in pellet form do the same job? Once I run out of the liquid, I was thinking of switching to a Barricade pellet treatment doing twice a year in spring and fall to manage poa and crabgrass. Thoughts?

    • @TheLawngineer

      The granular prodiamine works too, just make sure it’s watered in well. Spring and fall are great times to use pre-emergent. Just note you won’t be able to overseed if you apply pre-emergent in the spring and fall.

      Check out the 7:56 mark in the video where I explain who I think should consider this. If you have Poa Annua, it’s not worth it IMO. It will die in the summer heat. This is better used for poa trivialis which is a perennial weed.

      @@peterfreeman3317 I’m a serious green yarder that’s responsible for several yards, and yes I’ve dealt with Poa triv. A product like this is definitely for people who has a huge yard and don’t want to kill out thier lawn. I’ve killed out my backyard tons of times just because I like to experiment and what can tell you is my most successful weed free lawn was killing it out in the spring. If a person isn’t afraid to sacrifice a lawn for 2 months, they could have nearly perfect results by killing it out when the weeds and Poa are most aggressive.

    So question.. or maybe I’m looking for your thoughts here. It’s supposed to get to 76 degrees today through Tuesday. I was going to put first app down Monday bc of the temps. But Then it’s going to drop down to low 60s and high 50s as a high thur-sun next week. Should I still put first app down this Monday when temps are in 70s? I’m afraid waiting until consistent temps will put me in mid May and that IMO is a bit late but not sure.. as another guy said triv starts to die late May and may not be able to see it as good.

    Thanks for this helpful video! In terms of Oz to gallon I see Nufarm does say 1.5ML per Oz if spot spraying. But.. I’m getting mixed answers in terms of Oz to gallon if let’s say I have a 20 gallon towable sprayer. What’s the Oz to gallon for the low rate in general? 0.01-0.02 Oz? Or what Nufarm said on their literature: 1.5 ML = 0.05 Oz per gallon? Or is that too high for a tow behind sprayer?

    • @TheLawngineer
      @TheLawngineer  5 місяців тому +1

      NuFarm says 1.5 ml per gallon of water for spot treatments in a small handheld or backpack sprayer. If you have a tow behind sprayer, I’m assuming you have a lot of land. In that case, think in terms of ounces per acre and follow the conversion rates on the label and it’s a minimum of 20 gallons of water per acre.

    • @tashrayt4398
      @tashrayt4398 5 місяців тому +1

      @@TheLawngineer thanks! Yeah I have about an acre but only 3/4 of that is probably grass. I’m going to play it safe. I did the math 14375/43500 sqft is about 0.33 x 0.75 is 0.245 gallons for a 25 gallon sprayer. So I’m going to use about 0.01 per gallon max in my tow sprayer and see what that does. Better to be safe than smoke it all by accident right? Also I’ll be doing the slow program so I don’t over apply. High temps should reach 70 by next week here in Maryland so I’ll probably spray the first app then.
