    1ml per gallon is suggested by company reps. Has worked well for me with 3 applications. Appears to be the slower rate. So far so good.

    I have some future ideas for your next potential videos (selfishly for me)
    1) 5 dos and 5 don’t.
    2) what is the most important thing to do to have a good lawn (and what you don’t really need)
    3) best lazy man way to get a good lawn
    4) how to regrow grass in dead spots
    5) quick tips and tricks that you’re learned along the way you wish you knew before getting into lawn care.

    The lawn looks great before and after. Looking forward to seeing the final results. Is this product for people trying to go the extra mile or for folks in a worse off starting state?
    Also does the Lawn Engineer make house calls? It’d be sweet to get the professional evaluation of my lawn and learn what I should be doing.
    I’m happy to pay for extra help, but recently got into doing the work myself learning along the way from folks like Vince. Good inspiration to step away from the computer. A big thing I’ve learned recently is the importance of watering. It seems like good soil, good seed, and good water is all that is required. Results are quite amazing growing in hot PA summer. 😎 as I approach my ultimate Hank Hill future life….
    I’m curious if you could help me with a more techy question. How do you expect soil moisture content to change over the season? My models tell me that average soil moisture is quite high in the winter because evaporation rates are low. In the summer I show rates are much higher, so rain / irrigation is required to keep even soil moisture %.
    It’d be great to chat with you about this if you grab a moment.
    You’re looking good in those glasses and echo jacket by the way 😎 😂

    I'm going the Scott's Pro Vista route this fall. I've tried all of the home remedies/cocktails - including not watering my lawn for a month during a drought, but the poa still lived. Until this year when I didn't try.. a combination of slightly over-applying AMS, & trinexelpac-ethyl while it was going through fungal pressure killed the annua and put the triv into hard dormancy. The RPR looks great - however my lawn looks awful - like swiss cheese. I know it'll come back - it always comes back.
    I hope the velocity works out for you! The struggle is real.

    Keep in mind after your second application you will most likely notice growth suppression of your desirable turf. Apparently this is a common thing to happen according to Nufarm. It will pop back in a few weeks so don’t worry if you notice it. It happened with my turf after my second application. I’m doing 0.5 ML per gallon.

      @@TheLawngineer yeah I freaked out at first thinking I messed up but it’s normal. I do think though I may have injured some KBG but not sure bc I had a lot of poa annua mixed in and could be that turning white/brown. Also had fungus patch so that didn’t help either. I’m doing my third app when temps drop again but this time spot spraying the areas I had it the worst versus blanket spraying

    It seems to me that using the low rate/slow conversion in combination with overseeding will be the winning approach. Too early for me to confirm but I think that could be the way to go.

    What's your location? Please keep us posted with updates on how it works. And unfortunately Heritage has been out of stock all season. They were the most reasonably priced at $533. I refuse to patronize the places who are gouging on the cost at over $700 a bottle, so I'm currently waiting to pick some up.

    I’m curious if it just takes a very long time to work. I use Acclaim Extra on my Triv spots every Spring (labeled to control roughstalk bluegrass aka Triv) and it either kills the Triv or suppresses it to the point where I can’t see it anymore. Only downside is it basically nukes everything including my TTTF blades. But, the fescue always grows back thick and full with zero triv after. There’s still always some patches each Spring that come back but it seems to smoke most of it off since there’s less and less each year. But back to my original point, right when you think Acclaim did nothing after waiting weeks, it starts to show serious results around week 4-5 where the Triv looks like Hay at that point, burnt to the ground. Then by the 2 month mark, everything is usually filled back in with good grass. Curious if Velocity PM is a similar slowburn systemic that just takes time as well. Also, Acclaim does the same, stunts the growth of the sprayed spots for a few weeks

    • @mooch91
      @mooch91 15 днів тому

      I've not had the same luck with Acclaim Extra. I think it suppresses the triv but only temporarily, as it grows back in the same places each year. I did three apps, 7 days apart this spring. Curious to know your treatment protocol. A lot of debate on whether or not that label is accurate too (I had called Bayer at one point and they had told me it would not be effective on triv).

      @@mooch91 What rate are you spot spraying at? I’ve never done more than 2 apps, even one is usually enough, just takes times to work. I always spot spray the higher rate at 0.75oz/gall in early Spring then if needed come back about a few weeks later and spray the lower rate of 0.5oz/gall. By early May the lawn usually looks clean with no sign of triv. I take it it nuked that whole area with 3 separate apps 7 days apart? I know the label says to wait 14 days for a followup spray if needed.

But I also know it going dormant looks like you’re killing it but it’s really just going dormant and comes back in fall so it’s hard to tell if it’s working or not. Thoughts? 5-Iron Perennial Ryegrass with 0.5% other crop seed… they told me it was dill 🫠

      @@TheLawngineer i remember watching that video and commenting on it. It more than likely was the seed, especially seeing how the POA is spread out. @@delt19 I probably should talk to them about it. I’m not sweating it though. Happy to create the content and share my experience with others. Regarding the cost of Velocity PM, I was able to split it with a few friends… so I was only out about $50 in the end. There is so much in the bottle that it’s virtually impossible for one person to go through all of it on a single property unless you have many acres of land. I think NuFarm should consider selling smaller quantities.

      @TheLawngineer  16 днів тому +2

      I waited a while to be sure we were within the temperature ranges for applying (between 70 and 85 degrees). The poa triv is a perennial weed and it comes back year after year. I'm hoping this gets rid of it for good. We'll see by this time next year. Thanks for watching!

    • @dalewiley9208
      @dalewiley9208 15 днів тому

      Not sure the heat is actually “killing it” as opposed to driving it into dormancy. If heat did indeed kill it we wouldn’t have much of a problem.

    • @TheLawngineer
      @TheLawngineer  15 днів тому +1

      @@fingerlakeslawn I figure that the Velocity PM may just become part of the herbicide rotation… I’ll aerate and overseed right when summer temps drop (usually in late August for me), then try a pre-emergent in late September/early October once the overseed is established.
