Well, there are Safe Class SCPs that can still kill people. Just, they are so easy to contain. That they are not a threat. (Unless it is Pester Bot. That thing can't beat a paper bag) The "Safe" status is ease of containment and likelihood of the general population being disrupted by it. Sure, the Old Man randomly appearing and wanting to paint a picture of you is kind of disruptive to a degree. Yet, it is on such a small, localized level. That it is easy to contain it and resolving that disruption. It isn't an issue.
Then, again. Really, sometimes people need some random, nice stranger who is not judgmental or has any biases. Just say the right things to make you feel better. Even going so far as to give advice that is far more impactful to you personal that you never realized you needed. That is kind of the little message this SCP is giving.

As I've gotten older, I find myself more contemplative, and the man from the journal having heart disease at just one year older than myself really made me see this SCP in a different light. I think most people, in the end, just want a little peace in this world. Regrets, concerns for the roads not taken, they tend to pile up around us as we get older. I think this SCP is about making peace with ourselves, no matter what kind of life we may have lived.

At 30:40 I think it was probably the deer SCP-2845 (however it doesn’t makes sense when the deer didn’t fall to earth until 2011). It could be a different anomaly that is a deer or elk that the painter saw but we can tell is that the painter after this event is afraid of the Foundation and criminals.
Also the author in the discuss tab said that the scp that researchers were there is redacted and can’t really fully used it until they get permission to use it publicly. So the more you know.

Looking at the dates, the man that wrote the journal might’ve died the day after receiving the painting. The year of he wrote the journal and the year he died are covered and it’s unclear to me if 11/09 is September 11 or November 9, he may have lived for some time more or he just died the next day feeling relieved after he read the message from SCP 3471 and that’s why there were no more entries.
In any case, I loved this one. Wholesome SCPs are hard to write well and this was very good. Thank you for all of your work in adding to the experience 🙏🏼

What was the man’s regret? An illicit/ gay affair or something? How does that tie in with his heart?
Great story anyhow - always nice to know not everything supernatural out there wants to tear me to shreds, some just want a chat

I also wondered this but this is the only comment I can find discussing it. I had similar vague thoughts that he could've contracted something but that doesn't seem entirely right with the symptoms he mentions

Yeah this is the biggest question in my mind and I'm shocked that no one else is discussing it. There definitely seems to be some man ("him") that Hywell felt very affectionate about who he compared to the painter. And that there was some major event involving this person that led him to be full of regret. Though I'm not sure if the aforementioned "you know what" event is related to his heart or not. He says that he thinks of his condition as the universe getting back at him for his regrets, but it's not clear whether it's a direct consequence of those events, or a separate event that Hywell considers to be punishment

Aww, a Welsh SCP! A quick note, if it's a Welsh word, like Cynon, the C is more of a K sound, or a hard C like Cat. so Cynon would be like "C(for cat)-Uh-None ".

If The wheelchair guy was 34 when the journal was written, and it took place in the 1950s, he was possibly in his late teens or early 20s during WW2. I have to wonder if his guilt has something to do with the war.
