Crafting A Bombproof Bikepacking Setup | Sour Pasta Party Bike Build

- For this ultimate ASMR bike build, we joined our friends over at Sour Bikes in Germany to bring one of its Pasta Party XC frames to life. This build was specifically designed by Tailfin team member James as a tough-as-hell bikepacking rig. He worked with Sour to balance sturdiness and weight to create something to handle even the most gruelling of off-road trips. The bike was unveiled and shown at this year's Bespoked 2023, in Dresden.
With a ‘chef’s choice’ paint scheme and some tasty components, this one has turned out to be a real head-turner and contender for the best, dependable all-terrain bikepacking setup.

Elegant bike setup and the Tailfin rack...nothing like it.
VERY high Eye Candy coefficient. BONUS on the musical ambiance. Setting the chain link is a climax. 5 Stars! Enjoy!! Your ride!!!
Nothing like a good bit of MTB ASMR…
The chain slap was a personal favourite of ours and James certainly can’t wait to shred this beast!
Peacefully enjoyable 😌
Thanks Pierre!
Vielen lieben Dank 🫶 für das schöne Video 🥰🚴
Gern geschehen! danke für den Kommentar.
Nice bike how I wish I could have that kind of bike .watching your videos from Philippines. I do like bikes, videos about bikes, specially bike packing videos
Thanks for watching!
Soo geil. Love it.
Very nice build!
Thanks Eric! Appreciate the comments
Und wie schön eine authentische Werkstatt im Hintergrund zu sehen und nicht die Park Tool Filmkulisse.
Wish I'd seen this when building my frakenbike, he makes it look easy! What are the rim protection foamy bits? , they look ace
Cushcore! And yes, they are ace, indeed!
A true master mechanic! The foam inserts are Cushcore, designed to provide a smoother ride and enables slightly less rolling resistance.
😍
Beautiful!! Im thinking of getting this frame too :) How did you mount the rear MAGURA MT Trail Sport brake caliper? Its PostMount but the frame seems to only accomodate flat mount.
@sour.bicycles What magic did you do for this one?
That rear caliper is a Magura flat mount caliper, so all good! Our FM rear mount on the Pasta Party is 160mm native, so no adapters needed.
Curious what size top tube bag is on the bike - trying to decide which is best for an OPEN gravel bike.
Hi Dave, this is the 1.1L zipped top tube bag. I’ve attached the link for this item below.

what is the name of the torq wrench thingy used in the video?
I call it a "clicker" lol. It's a fixed torque wrench from Bontrager, 4mm/5Nm
Not very big bags how much volume/weight you carry on a trip?
Pack light, go fast, eat snacks, call your mom... that's how bikepacking works, yeah? ;P
1:50 cho hỏi vòng dây gắn vào vành xe là gì vậy
Xin chào, ý bạn là hệ thống rimpact?
Hệ thống tác động bảo vệ vành xe
Too much ball end for my liking 😂
Oh man, you have gotta try those Silca ball ends! Not bolt heads were harmed in the making of the video.
Great bike, video and build, but the finish bike is covered with UA-cam logo and cards. Why? Add extra seconds if you want to show these overlays.
Great feedback, thanks!
The music piece is...?
Hey, the audio tracks used are from Epidemic Sound
what was that tube?
Which tube?
@@TailfinCycling Leave the color tube empty in the wheel
Someone please explain that bottom bracket to me. wtf :D
Hey Jona, the main function of an eccentric bottom bracket is to adjust the tension of the chain or belt to get an optimal chain tension.
When building up the frame, James wanted to be able to switch between single speed and geared so this system allows just that.
@@TailfinCycling why not just add a flip chip. that looks cleaner than this.
@@everybikevid3026if you are running a singlespeed setup, you need something to tension the chain or belt. This can be done with horizontal dropouts or a bottom bracket like the one seen here. A flip chip can't tighten something, it just alters geometry.
What happened with the BB seems very unnatural

@@TailfinCycling never knew about that!
Quick side note, I'm an early user of your products, nice to see you get a nice finish on your marketing stuff. It's a joy to see !!
Please do a Mason build :)
Cheers from France !
@@TailfinCycling So if you break your derailleur you can continue your journey on a single speed? damn.
@@Ignash Could! Should? No. lol Modern chains and cassettes love to shift. If you run your bike in emergency-SS mode, there's a pretty good chance your chain will shift up, immediately tightening and possibly seizing the drivetrain. Do be careful!
I considered this frame for a while-the EBB over slides was the deal breaker for me. I've owned 3-4 EBB bikes, everyone of them eventually creaks. That said I have not had a split shell design like they user on this frame. EBB can also be a bit annoying if you change SS gear ratios because every adjustment impacts your saddle height.
big mistake ! suspension front forks go rigid if SHTF one less detail to be concerned about
how about you make your own videos
@@notpablo8369 just giving constructive criticism if that's too much then enjoy what you've got and oh by the way read the book "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy and you might understand why the simpler the better
