Actrually underwear in pinyin is Nei Ku
It can be "Di Ku" 底裤 or "Nei Ku" 内裤. Bras would be "Nei Yi" 内衣. 内= inner.

I'm not Chinese, but would like to know...it sounds like Taiwanese cause I watch a lot of Taiwanese dramas, so is it the same thing? Is it like...another dialect of Mandarin?

“Nai yi fu”is canto! Means underwear& bra. For mando you can say “nei ku” for underwear or “Di ku” ! U were correct!😬

word20 i speak mandarin at home and we use both 底裤 and 内裤，if u google translate 底裤 it gives u “underpants” which is unusual but still correct

For ABCs we will always speak like that, cause our accent isn't proper, or it could be our Cantonese influence :)
This was surprisingly helpful, Weylie! Hearing a Cantonese speaker struggling to pronounce Mandarin gave me a lot of insights into sounds, hearing, mouth positions. Chinatown in Boston is mostly Cantonese, but Fenway in Boston (where I live) is mostly international students that speak Mandarin. I'm still getting through HSK-1 and -2 and this video was a little bit of a breakthrough for me (I hope). Thank you!

Hey there, I'm an a2/b1ish level student of Mandarin, and this video was excellent listening practice for me - because you were often describing things that were also on Camera, it was easy for me to follow even when I occasionally didn't know a word (or you didnt 😂).
I really enjoyed this and will certainly be excited for any similar releases.
(I also have dreams of one day learning Cantonese too, but first I need to at least get to your level of Mandarin fluency haha).

Totally enjoyed this video! I'm ABC and have grown up speaking Cantonese and have also learnt Mandarin mostly through watching dramas/music and think I am able to listen pretty well but whenever I try speak it is so off all those tones. Hope to see more videos like this!

底裤 is a term used more often when Cantonese native people speak in Mandarin. Whereas 内裤 is a very native way to say underwear :)

Actually the Chinese in Malaysia and Brunei we say underwear as “Di ku” also haha. But the proper and more mannered way to say it is “nei ku”.
Nei Yi is usually referring to the inner garment (bra).

This is so inspiring! I understand a lot of Mandarin, but I always second guess my tone pronunciation. That makes me really shy to speak in Chinese, but after seeing your video, I think I'll just record mini vlogs for practice and not post them anywhere. I never thought of recording myself to rewatch as a way to fix mistakes.
