Same although I am a senior in HS. How do u plan to go about getting ur license? For me I was thinking about going to atp flight school
I am planning on going to either the united aviate program or the southwest 225 destination program both in phoenix. They’re really good 1 year programs (accelerated flight schools). If you get accepted to those, they’re pretty much a straight shot to either united or southwest. But you have to build hours and go through a regional (all the things that Garrett mentioned). I’m doing more research to see if any other airlines have anything similar.
If American Airlines had something similar I would absolutely look into it. I love that airline. So many options 😭

I have been waiting for this video for a while! Thank you for the detailed insight on the steps of becoming a commercial pilot. I plan on attending the ATP flight school but the one issue was not being able to get the hefty loan. So another option is the Aviate academy. Thanks for the great contents and I look forward for another video regarding individual licenses and ratings. Also what were the challenges you had to face throughout the process of becoming a professional pilot, if there were any?
have you looked at smaller more affordable flight schools in your area? if your paying out of pocket it might benefit you to get your ppl thru a mom and pop school and learn at your own pace then attend a school like atp. from my experience at atp getting my ppl was hard bc i followed a curriculum rather then learning at my own pace and really get a feel for flying. Hope you find what works for u.. good luck

Overall pretty good explanation.
Very fast paced video. You make it sound so simple, should've mentioned things like medicals, written exams(very time consuming), minimum hour requirements, xc requirments, etc. Not to mention the cost.
If I was someone that was looking into becoming a pilot, this video would make it sound too easy.
Still worth it the end of the day tho.
Garrett, what do you think of programs like Alaska Ascend Pilot Academy? Versus getting all ratings done independently at a faster pace.
It takes about 3.5 years + 2 years of flying commitment with Horizon Air.

Hey Garrett, great video! I'm looking to learn from a pilot school next year, as I am a senior in high school. The program offers an IATPL, and my grandfather even teaches the program. The only problem is the program will end up costing me about 90 thousand CAD, any advice on how to pay for this?

Hey Garrett, you say at the beginning that your a first officer, but I notice you have 4 stripes on your shoulder boards….is there an upgrade you will be telling us about soon?
Would like to here what the major things cover/ what is diffrent in each rating
For the phoenix Az area, it is too crowded with flight training. United Aviate didn't need to set up shop because it was way too busy to begin with. If your on the phoenix area and want to see what I am talking about, I have a cessna at KGEU, I will show you what I am talking about. You will quickly realize there is no pilot shortage. Just lots of crappy CFI's that stumble over each other for the airline gig then end up not liking it.
