Great review. One thing I would like to mention is the talk about metal Lens hoods. Plastic will absorb an accidental lens drop so much better than a metal. I learned the hard way. The plastic will absorb the shock and break possibly saving the glass. I dropped a metal hood and instantly shattered the glass. Other than that, I think I bight be picking this up after renting it
5:25 lens collars usually swivel like that so you can go quickly from landscape to portrait orientation without having to do anything with your tripod head. Handy if you don't want to stop the shoot and take everyone out of the flow. This is a great review, it's a photographer talking about how the kit has helped you and how it might be good for others. I love this style of review! The technical ones are handy but I always try to find reviews like this to understand the character of the lens not just the specs. Thank you Kagan, that was really helpful.
“Everything except the lens hood is top tier” well, tell us how you really feel. Lol! Great video bro. I remember your transition to the Fuji camera. Great work man.
09:00 glad your opinion changed. Your XH-1 has depreciated significantly and wouldn't get more than half its original value. Bodies are like cell phones sadly. Whereas, you could sell that 50-140 in two years at 80% and sell it without any issue. Plus these days even a decent body will get great results so invest more around the lenses and less around the body.
so, na wa for this lens, no be so?. just getting into fuji - my x-h1 arrives next week and you just sold me on this lens - love your style. naija for real. ps - like your photos and videos.
Great video. By the way, there is a reason why you get cheap feeling plastic lens hoods instead of metal ones. Plastic ones take the hit so the lens doesn't have to when you drop it. They absorb the impact and break. You drop a lens with a metal lens hood all of that shock transfers to the lens itself, potentially damaging it. However this doesn't answer why Fujifilm lens hoods are completely terrible when it comes to staying on the lens! They always seem to end up falling off for me. I love Fujifilm but sort it out, guys! :D
IMO XF 50-140mm f/2.8 is the best portrait lens for Fuji X-mount. There's no comparison with 50mm f/1.0 and 56mm f/1.2, because at 140mm f/2.8 bokeh is much stronger while still keeping entire body in focus (on 50mm at f/1.0 only eyes are sharp while the rest of the body is blurred). BTW. Fuji says 50-140 is weather sealed, but that's BS. No lens or camera body is trully weather sealed and later on people are surprised when rain will destroy their weather sealed gear.
the lens hood is plastic presumably to avoid adding even more weight to the very front!! If they made it metal you would probably complain it was too heavy!!
@@KaganTech Agreed... but it should be balanced though and a heavy front ekd oens hood would hinder that... im pretty sure guys shooting action with this lens are glad its not heavier on the frond end.
Leave a comment under this if you are a war and a fight!
I just want you to know that you're not OK 😂😂😂😂

Great, mate. Great lens. Enjoy.
Exactly the video I searched for 🎉
This lens is the indaboski bahose of all lenses
It is not a preacher of the preaching of love.

Great and grounded reviews 👍🏽
Glad you enjoyed it!
Damn, thinking to trade in my 16-55 for this.
I wanted the 16-55 initially too... but I opted to get this and the 23 and 35 F2 primes. Kit complete as soon as I add the 80MM macro!

:))), love the attitude, not bogged down with the bull, proper photographer.
I wish I could financially justify buying a lens like that.
That looks badass 😄

It was never going to be a lightweight lens to begin with.
