So many memories and moments from London 2012 but this was the most unexpected and the one that really transcends sport for me. First time I'd ever watched any paralympic athletics, I really must show this to my son

Richard is from my home town and is regularly seen out running and is a very down to earth guy.
His gold was made all the more special as he is a marathon runner and trained especially for the 200! He ran 40 marathons in 40 days in all weather's to raise money for charity. He is simply a great guy

He's from my home town too! :D He was my sister's swimming teacher and taught her up until she was 11 and when it got to the point where the only medal she didn't have was the timed length of the pool, he gave her private lessons and wouldn't give up until she got it!!! I remember him walking up and down the side of the pool while she was swimming cheering her on! I remember chatting to him, he's one of the nicest people ever!

I was lucky enough to be in the stadium. Unforgettable the reaction after he won.

I saw him compete at the London Para Athletics a few years later, and seeing him race in the flesh was unreal (and yes, he came first there too!) I can't imagine how incredible it much have been to see this moment happening in front of you!

What if you got amnesia or Alan Zimers (his friends call him Al)? Then this moment will become forgettable.

That last 80 metres is ridiculous. Would love to know what he ran that last 100m in.

After the turn he said, "Screw you guys, I'm going home." like Cartman. Incredible!

Nothing is wrong, the men racing here are born without limbs, but they are good
