Hell yeah, that sounds awesome! It reminds me of a tune that Tom Keifer from Cinderella played from the album Long Cold Winter, and I always liked that tune. Smashed the like button and subscribed. Now off to tune up my cigar box rig.
Hi Michael, quick question- are you actully pressing down with your fingers with your left hand as you would with a fretted guitar, or just using the slider to contact with the strings. Because it looks like you are using fingers besides the slider finger to make your notes, which when I try on mine it doesn't do anything lol
Hi Dax, In this video, I am just using the slide to glide over the strings. The fingers behind the slide are muting the strings to limit any string buzzing or unwanted noise from slide. Here's a video with some slide tips. ua-cam.com/video/sF8u85Vm1EY/v-deo.html
hah like the the bit where you say made with "tools from china", I'm using the same tools hehheh, keeps the cost down, hey I notice you don't seem to be using a fret board, so how thick is the wood neck when finished?, I'm using a hardwood merbau/kwila for my neck, 3 pieces laminated so its 40mm wide and 24mm thick, hard as nails. Thanks Sid
Tools from China is about all we can get these days, for sure lol That neck there is a standard piece of 1x2 poplar, no fret board, so its nice and thin for easy playing. The laminate neck your making sounds like its going to be a nice looking neck.
I recently bought a fretless slide kit. When I try to play with a slide or finger on a string it mutes. I am not currently plugged into an amp but do have the ability to in the future. My tuner shows GDG when I open strum. If yours was unplugged from your amp does it also sound muffled or dead?
Hi Douglas, it may sound muted when trying to fret the note with your fingers on a fretless, their made mostly for slide playing.but should not be muted when using the slide.
I have a question. I have an opportunity to purchase a fretless cigar Box amplified it's amplified from a man who makes them in my town for a $125.. What is the best wood for the neck that would help keep the guitar in tune the best
Any hard wood would work for a neck, I have a CBG with a Poplar neck I built 4 years ago and it still stays in tune. Ive only used 3 woods for necks, Poplar, Oak and Maple. Ive had good luck with these.
Rank beginner here. If marked on the side like you did, why should you go through the trouble of putting in actual metal frets ?? . Seems like slide usage would be much better with this guitar that you made, thank you
Merci Merci Merci a vous de votre reponse..j adore ce que vous faites .vos cigare box guitare sont aussi sublime que votre joie de vivre .merci. J accepterais volontier une cigare box de votre part en cadeau..merci
They can be higher for slide playing, but I build mine so their high enough for slide playing, so your not clanking your slide on the frets but still low enough to fret chords as well. :) M~
@@SouthernFireGuitars that's exactly what I have already but I also have metal wound stings gdg tuning and my front nut is a piece of metal with 3 little saw cuts that the strings sit in it could be that there's to much play in them maybe? It's damn annoying though
What a fun guy👍. I love these cigar box guitars. Totally unique down under where I live.

Awesome
Thank you Teddy.
I’ve pleats wondered why the playable side is ALWAYS on the lid side of the cigar box. Is it just for looks?
Yes, mostly for looks, but, you can use either side as the top. There are NO rules. M~
@@SouthernFireGuitars I thought about leaving the lid free so I can put things in it when I’m not using it.
Thank you,for something I can do

No such guitars in SA... and i love it all 3 strings
Thanks Paul, you can find some here www.southernfireguitars.com/ 😎
Very cool sound and a beauty guitar !! could you kindly tell us what amp and sound setting are you using for this video ? Thanks!
Thanks, Maglean. I'm using a Line 6 Spider Classic 15 amp, playing on a clean channel with a little reverb. M~

You would add frets if you wanted to actually fret the notes and chords with your fingers.
Can you get this same sound using a fretted guitar?
Hi Tim. The answer is Absolutely. M~
Magnifique...les cordes que vous utiliser avec la marques please mais ...merci merci
I get bulk strings, nickle wound 040 030 022

What size nail?
What nail?
@@SouthernFireGuitars the nut
I'm getting like real bad vibration from the strings I think its coz I got a metal rear saddle
Hi Matt, That could be the reason, try making you one out of wood, maybe a piece of fret wire on the top. M~
