RIP Martin Crowe, as a little kid in Pakistan one of my most cherished memory is 1992 world cup where you dominated every single team with your flawless batting.
You are a cricketing and humane role model to all of us,

I agree, I cherish the 1992 memories too. However I was heartbroken by Inzamam......What an innings under huge pressure in that semi.. We still talk about 92 and Inzamam in NZ.

I always felt Crowe and Inzamam were under appreciated during their era. When best XI's are usually compiled for this era those two inexplicably get overlooked, wrongly in my mind.

I agree, as i'm sure you're aware they both came across each other in an absolute classic at Eden Park in the 1992 semi - what a game... Crowe, in his prime, Inzaman a young, brash, fearless, extremely talented batsman......But he broke my heart that day as an 11 year old, I still feel it just a little...All respect to the man. NZ'ers still talk about Inzamam and 1992

If Crowe had been Australian he would have an average 7-8 runs higher and be recognised as one of the all time greats. Instead he played a lot of cricket in NZ on NZ pitches against WI, Pakistan (Akram and Younis) , and against Australia in Australia. Due to weak NZ batting, he was always in early against quality bowling attacks and often relied on to hold the batting together. His technique was flawless - unparalleled.

He stood on a ball during fielding practice and basically destroyed his knee. The result was he ended up with no cartilage in one knee which really hampered his movement for the remainder of his career. He could barely run and it affected his technique which used to involve a lot of small late "dance" steps around the crease.

Though i am srilankan and pair of you destroy our top order including Roshan Mahanama, I loved to watch you 2 bowling. You with relatively short run up. waquar and shoib almost start runup from boundary line. I dont know how Pakistan produce such talented fast bowlers.

priyankara wimalaweera it was charm of Imran khan. With long hair, handsome personality and attractive bowling styles plus Imran look like a movie star with a strong mind and heart to bat against strong Westindian pace attack and he had very good speed in his bowling he was no 3 after Jeff Thomson’s and Michael holding and at one time he was no 1 . Not only Imran khan was an excellent bowler he also made centuries . All the Pakistani bowlers were inspired by Imran khan but Pakistan never produce other alrounder like him . Waseem, Waqar and shoaib were just bowlers. The four great alrounder were Imran khan, Kapil deve , Botham, and Richard Headly . In the history of cricket their records are unique among these four Imran khan and kapil dave won the World Cup too. So Pakistani fast bowlers are just bowelers not all rounders like above 4.

His knee was badly damaged as a teenager playing rugby. He was an ace winger, playing for Kelston Boys 1st 15, when Graham Henry, later All Black coach, was coach - and headmaster of the school. Martin told Henry his knee was injured, and Henry gave him a look that said, don't let the team down. So he played and wrecked it more, and it hampered his career, especially towards the end when he was playing with a full metal leg-brace. Even so, if he had played for a champion team like Australia he may well have averaged 50+

Martin Crowe could play any type of bowling and any bowler. Whether it was express pace, spin or swing. He had great success against the West Indies pace attack of the 80's, also Shane Warne, Younis and Akram. He always looked flawless when scoring his runs, one of the most stylish batsmen ever. His batting average was creeping pretty close to 50 before the knee injury got the better of him, ultimately forcing his retirement at a fairly young age - 30 I think.....
A fun fact, he was also a pretty quick bowler in his younger days before a back injury got the better of him. He once dismissed Larry Gomes of the West Indies with a bouncer in a test match!!

I was 14 years and that era my hero was Gavin larsen ,,, ( Dont laugh he is a gentle medium pace with swing and accuracy ) Martin crow was known by in one test match he got out first ball for duck.... then i thought "who is that ....john wright , Ken Ratherford are much better " because they played slightly well... during second inning martin came and smash a hundred and we didnt know until he score a hundred because it was seamless , effortless batting exibiton , Same style batting i have seen from Hansie Cronje ,,, the invener of slog sweep mostly used to smash murali , i think darrel cullinun also did the same

@@sunset1394 Lol another fool 😂😂😂😂 spotted and better call Sunil or Sunny most idiotic way people in India and Asia in General use to show their respect. Most of the people who rates him are the ones who rarely saw him play overrated doesnt mean that he was not a Great, he was indeed but he was nowhere in league of Viv Richards who is Greatest batsman in last 50 years or Modern day Greats like Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulkar, Even his own team mates like Amarnath and Gundappa were better than him on their day against better bowling line ups. As for Winning against West Indies and Australia i laugh sometimes how naive peoples are. The one game where West Indies let India chased 400, at the time they were yet to unleash their fearsome quatret, Only Mikki Holding was there who too was only 22 and do you know What happened in next test, Your Sunny G was part of team that surrender test match due to too many bouncers, Now dont say everyone would have done that Windies copped far worst behaviour and hostile bowling in Australia in 1975-76 against Lillee,Thomson,Glimour etc. When playing against all of Windies quicks he avg 29, He struggled against Dennis Lillee throught and his only 100 against New Zeland came when Hadlee wasnt there. Leave that alone he indeed was a Great player evident from fact that he played fast bowling well but nah he wasnt in league of Viv Richards. He is more about legends than Cricket history like the most funny his 13 centuries against West Indies quatret.
Level of stupidity in this comment is for ages Bounce in South Africa???? Really ??? South africa were banned during 1970 to 1992 and calling me that i have poor knowledge of game, LMAO.
