    I've whacked the subscribe button, Great job Lee.
    I remembered to switch off and pull the plug from the socket before stripping out a wire strand, I just need to perfect my technique in focussing with my vintage manual lenses.
    This is just what I need to get my little grey cells back working since retirement...Thank You.

    Oh wow! You have so inspired me! I love macro, it's my favorite thing to do outdoors. The winter is getting long now here in Minnesota, so I search for things to do inside, and I started to think about water drop photography again. I do have a dropper system, to get splashes, but I think I'm lacking motivation to get it running. That is when I found your video... then your videos. And I have to tell you, you are my favorite now. I like that you want to share, that you don't want to keep it yours and a secret. You know you've been there, get to video that shows you what you can do, but doesn't fully explain how to get there. I know that my settings may be different, but at least it's a starting point. So last weekend I set out got me some wire. And I can't wait to get started. I did want to ask you how far in is your wire from the edge of the plate, and how much you have it out of the liquid? I think by the way I can't see it that it's pretty small. Also, do you add anything to your water to help it stay? Mine keep falling off, maybe I need to just slow down. Well anyway, thank you so so much for sharing and getting me excited.

    • @LeeHallphotography
      @LeeHallphotography  3 роки тому

      Wow wow wow thank you ever so much I am going to re do that video because you are so right about not seeing it properly I was a new bee to video stuff lol.
      The wire was around 40mm into the plate. I never add anything to my water it just takes practice to start off but the more you do the more it becomes easier. With the wire trie to make the hoop as small as you can trust me you can do it I would love to see your pictures once you have taken them. Hope you have fun and stay safe and happy snapping 📸

    Like others, I stumbled on to you and really enjoy your tutorials. I’ve been doing macro for quite a few years and it is my favorite of all the arts. Please tell me something about the photos in this video. Are they soft, meant to be soft , or are they tack sharp or somewhere in between.No criticism, my vision is not what it used to be.I just want feedback from you so that I can see your vision, because I love the look. Thanks .

      Absolutely. I've just bought a cheap set of 3 from eBay (Andoer) for $30 Australian Dollars and they work so well with my 50mm prime & also on my 35-150mm Tamron.

    I have tried a spray bottle, dropper, syringe thin wire thick wire small diameter hole 0.75mm to 1.5mm hole every time the drop forms underneath, once it formed on top lasted 3 seconds. I tried some washing up liquid but it failed. Thank you for all your help

    Hi Lee
    I am trying this set up at the moment I am using some 0.5mm gauge wire wrapped it around the skewer initially the hole was about 1.5 mm, too big I think as the drop filter through and would not hold. I have now snipped it near the bottom of the skewer, whole is now 0.75mm water still cannot hold. Am I doing something wrong, is the wire gauge too thick any help would be great.

      Hi mate try spraying the wire with a spray bottle it might hold then i know it sounds silly but it usually works this way.

      Cheers I tried it with a dropper then a syringe but the drop collapsed in under 3 seconds. I will try the way you suggest, cheers mate.

    HI! I tried to take photos like you did in the video but I can't get round drops. I am not able to place them on slots, I also have difficulty getting the drops to stay on the copper or iron material... How do you do it? Do you use only water or also glycerin or something else? Congratulations for the videos and photos. Thank you

      @LeeHallphotography  8 місяців тому +1

      Hi my friend I only use water in my video. The best thing to try is get some fine abrasive paper and rub the wire first this way it will help the water droplets hold better. Some times the wire might have a fine coating of grease on this will not allow the water droplets to stick on as well.
      I hope this helps you out please let me know how you get on
      Stay safe and happy snapping

    Hi Lee, I am trying the wire water droplets and my droplets do not stay on the top of the loops I make. I have tried various sizes of loop I use a syringe to place the water. How do you get yours to stay on the top of the wire?

    • @LeeHallphotography
      @LeeHallphotography  4 роки тому +1

      Hello my friend you have to make the loop as small as you can my friend if the hole is to big it will just drop through my friend if you twist the loop round you should still get a picture like the one on my pictures my friend
