2000 Toyota Camry
Diagnosed #1 injector on cylinder #1 was bad. High resistance on the injector causing rough idle. Replaced it with Genuine Toyota injector.
P0301, P0302, P0303 and P0304:
Misfiring of random cylinders is detected in any particular 200 or 1000 revolutions.
For any particular 200 revolutions for engine, misfiring is detected which can cause catalyst over heating (this will cause MIL to blink)
Possible Trouble Areas:
-Open or short in engine wire
-Connector connection
-Vacuum hose connection
-Ignition system
-Injector
-Fuel pressure
-EGR system
-Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor (MAP)
-Engine Coolant Temperature sensor (ECT)
-Compression pressure
-Valve clearance
-Valve timing
-ECM (Engine Control Module)
P0171:
When air-fuel ratio feedback is stable after warming up engine, fuel trim is considerably in error on RICH side (2 trip detection logic)
Possible Trouble Areas:
-Air induction system
-Injector bad or blockage
-Manifold Absolute Pressure
-Engine coolant Temperature sensor
-Fuel pressure
-Gas leakage on exhaust
-open or short in heated oxygen sensor (bank 1 sensor 1) circuit
-Heated oxygen sensor (bank 1 sensor 1)
-ECM
Conclusion:
I replaced the fuel injector because of blockage of fuel causing a misfire, lean condition at cylinder #1. The PCV and rubber grommet was also replaced since it was never been changed. A bad PCV may cause a rough idle, hard starting and/or lean misfire (which increases emissions and wastes fuel).

Yeah, I just ran into this. Mine started out with multiple misfires so changed the plugs and wires. Now I'm only throwing a code for cylinder one and pretty much determined the same thing. At least the job isn't too involved. a HUGE thanks for the no bullshit video editing.
OK so I'll add some dialogue as to what I believe happened. The car presented running rough, and was found to have a cylinder 1 misfire and lean codes on the scan tool. On freeze frame data the engine had not yet warmed up. The usual approach with lean codes is to run the vehicle with live data running and then open up the throttle to see if it improves. Improvement would point in the common direction of too much air from a vacuum leak. Here the live data verified the upstream oxygen sensor is cycling fine, and the fuel trim actually worsens with open throttle. Overall this points in the direction of something that would specifically impair fuel delivery to only cylinder #1, and the most common cause of that is a stuck closed fuel injector. When the computer detects too much oxygen in the exhaust, it responds by prolonging injector pulses to all cylinders on that bank, which caused three cylinders to run rich. Of course prolonging injector pulse has no effect on the first cylinder which wasn't getting any fuel, so it keeps increasing fuel. If the injectors were easy to get to I suspect he'd have done a few tests on the injector to look for a signal from the pcm, but he couldn't get at the injectors without removing the valve covers. So, he removed the valve cover gaskets to get at the fuel injectors, and he proved the #1 injector was bad by testing resistance. Then he replaced the injector and adjacent seals, he replaced a pcv valve while there, and put it all back together. The real message here is not to guess about the diagnosis, this is a real pro at work.
Thank you brother. Happy Holidays. Stay safe and stay well. God Bless
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a trick to log back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly lost the account password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me
@Dorian Aydin Instablaster :)
@Ira Stefan thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and im in the hacking process now.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Ira Stefan it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my account :D
I like your way of handling tools and components. I used to be terrified of handling car parts cause I didn't know anything about them. Now that I understand so much I can just throw things about and know what goes where and its very comfortable to work on cars. Makes them waaaay less intimidating.
This is one of the best fix it videos ever. Thank you so much!
Most shops do not do the kind of trouble shooting that you do. Really appreciate your videos.
Amazing i like your way how to fix cars with no voice and no talk seriously amazing job
I like your no Bs to the point video editing
Love that you're still using your blue point meter from UTI.
I love you so much! I tried everything on my 96 Camry plugs, wires ,cap and rotor nothing but this 💪💙💙
I like how he doesn't talk but say what he is doing.
Trueeeee
Not really..it b nice to hear the explanation..
Best car vid I’ve watched in a while recently got a 2000 yota project car and it had a rough idle and I fixed it to the help of this now runs smooth as can be subbed and liked hell yeah

Thanks for the video, now i know where to find the injectors on my Camry! Misfire on 3e cilinder.
Hey Angel, I love your videos, it might be nice if we all can hear your voice sometimes 😄 , thanks for another great lesson!! God bless you and your beautiful daughter 🙏!

thank you,you do the same!!!
Nice video man. Really detailed. 5/5 keep up the video in that 1998 Camry!
Thank you!! I will try. Have a nice day. Please subscribe.
Love it straight to the point 💥
just did all 4 injectors in my camry, 20min job. dip new injector ends in gas before installing to prevent leaks and easier installation.
Who else likes that he doesn’t talk?
Lubricate the o-rings on the injector. I use Vaseline on them. Keeps them from dry rotting and sticking to the metal next removal. It also makes installation easier.
Vasoline is petroleum based and eats rubber. What you suggest is a mistake. You must use a silicone based grease on O-rings.
Just dip your o-rings in gas ⛽
Perfect.. that's how that engine has to sound👍
Amazing video! Did I just watch a guy practically take apart his engine in seven minutes??!! LOL
+charls seal Thank you!! I love it when viewers like you leave comments. Please share and subscribe. Have a nice day.
Nice job on angel but it really just a valve cover and fuel rail, injectors, not an engine
Good man thanks for the upload
welcome brother
Great vid. I liked how easy it was to watch
well done .. you are great man
I like your videos, ,happy Christmas and New Year.
@Chriswong You Wong!! I didn't remove the spark plugs. Lay off the drugs...it's bad for you!!

PO171. PO115. I bought a cheap bosh scanner. Lol. I super appreciate your reply "you da man"
Check if your radiator is full of coolant. if so, then check your engine coolant temperature sensor(ECT). It could be bad like this. ua-cam.com/video/DOXUmqbOIaY/v-deo.html
Also try testing it. Remove it and see if it's not corroded or cracked.
great video.. i feel like i could fix my camry injectors now
Courtney Bowen same
it would have been a better video if he would have called out each part he was replacing. but so far the best video on this particular engine. Which is the same one I have.
1995 camry running rough, a long screwdriver at the base of the injector, hold it close to your ear, listen for a clicking noise, no click, bad injector. I changed bad injector only, car runs fine..
I have used re-manufactured injectors on other cars, they run fine...
love my 96 Camry 2.2. 110,850 and hopefully my last car😁😁
Excellent video. Thank you.
toyo toe Thank you and please subscribe. Have a nice day.
Thanks you did a great job 👍
Good job .

Very good video ❤
I'm having the same problem on cylinder 3 I change spark plugs, the wires, and the coil pack 2/3 in case it was that but still having same problem gonna change my injector 3 thanks for the vid
xMIKExFROMxTHExBRONX What did it end up being?
Love your video i just subscribed and ringed the bell
Great video brother help a bunch
I had the same problem on Camry. Lucky that after removing injectors and having them cleaned by machine, Problem solved. Check engine light cleared, car no longer had surging at idle.
Why do you mean by cleaned by machine?
this is a really good video
Thx I’m trying to figure mine out
Can you fix my jaw cause it fell out just watching your video hahaha! You're amazing! thanks for the video :)
Bestcartechideverseen
nice editing, like watching an action movie, well done!
Saludos de chihuhua mexico
You're vids are awesome, I wonder how fast you could be using 2 hands!!
Thanks
Awesome video. Great help!
Thanks :)
IDK if your gonna see this or not but i have the same codes except cylinder 2.
Change igntion coils, spark plugs, fuel injectors, cleaned maf, intake manifold gasket and throttle body gasket change.
still have those 2 codes and engine shakes. starts right up for cold start, but once you had it on for a while and turn it off, the only way to get it to turn on is to give it some gas while turning ignition otherwise it would just die out immediately.
maggotcorps have you tested your fuel pressure? Your fuel pressure regulator could be bad. It's together with your fuel pump.
If you have any coolant loss a bad head gasket or cracked head will also throw the same codes.
Wait wait... Mr. Angel, Sir, how about them fuel trim numbers post fix tho?
I had this problem and it was a clogged air filter! Previous owner didn't do crap!
Wicked angel Wicked. 👍😆
Removal of the intake is not required?
Good job
One thing to note is that in 1999 or 2000, Toyota changed the injectors to the slimmer version. The fat version is usually California and 1997 to 1998.
You are correct. I went to junkyard and got fuel injectors off 1999….. slim bastards wouldn’t fit in my 1998. Needed the fat ones!
great vid man
Very nice video. Well done.is that a new gasket for the camshaft cover, or did you re-use the old one? Also , the Toyota seal packing you only applied to a few spots...why didn't you apply it all around the entire surface?
You should write up what your solution was in the description. I saw a new fuel injector was the primary culprit. What were those other parts you changed and why did you change them?
+zephyr prime Yes I will do that. thank you
Hey Angel where did you learn to be a mechanic ..? Thx
Very nice video. Love the fast forward and camera work was very clear. I have the same error but not a misfire error. I changed the big rubber snorkel to the throttle intake. I never reset the error though. It does give me trouble every morning I need to spray starting fluid. Or it won't start. Any idea? I put injector cleaner in fuel but did not help. Any thoughts for me?
Reset the check engine light by removing the negative battery terminal for a minute and put it back. drive it and when the check engine comes on, tell me the code.
What are the ohm specs the fuel injectors should read when the vehicle is cooled down on a 2007 Toyota Camry ?? TY
I got the same problem on my Corolla so I replace all four spark plugs, coil packs, and fuel injectors . I also put new MAF sensor and a new fuel pump but I still get misfires on cylinder 2,3,and 4. I get codes like p0171, p0300, p0302, p0303, p0304. The car idles bad I took my car to a mechanic for vacuum leak test but it's normal. Can you tell me what's the problem what to look for? 1zzfe engine is pain in the ass. I like the v8 Lexus 1uzfe vvti a lot easier to work with
What a pickle...did you check the fuel filter and fuel pump. Filter is easier than pump
where are you I need help with my scion tc its had a bad wiring job that needs undoing and redoing
Hi good video i have the same problem whit one 2007 camry is possible the same process tnanks.
I have a a 2.2l camry 2000 model 5s fe motor stalls if I rev it in drive or reverse at about 1300rmp when I warm. Car drives fantastic other wise
What you find it was?
how goes the engine Toyota Camry 2.4 VV-TI 2 AZ-FE?
Nice job , but how did you know it was the injector ? You did not do a injector balance test . Thanks. Angel another fine video.
JOGO hi, the p0171 is a lean condition, less fuel indication. so I figured the #1 injector is clogged.
Honestly, I never done a balance test. Maybe next time I will do that. I guess I got lucky??
Thank you for the question
nice job
Thank you. Please subscribe.
I can't believe how clean that head is for a twenty year old car - must have had it worked on...
Like a boss !!!
nice video
I will add, the thing has been driving better since I cleaned the throttle body and maf sensor. Still getting misfire tho. Im also hearing air around the air intake tube. Vacuum leak?
Hi fix it angel I have questions which each better to use?the stock air filter or K&N air filter?
Hi Angel. I recently changed my 3SFE engine cyl #2 injector and I noticed that the spark plug turned carbon-fouled. I swap the cyl #1 plug with #2 plug to test and the plug from #1 got fouled and the #2 plug got normal looking (carbon got burned). #2 cyl seems to be the only one running rich. Tension wires are good, 4 spark plugs are new, coil is ok too, no leaks on fuel pressure reg. Any tip to make cyl #2 fire normal just like the other 3 cyls? Thanks.
like a boss...
good job
thank you Jesse
Is it better to change fuel filter or strainer before installing fuel injectors ??
M Ridware - Correct. change your fuel filter every 50k miles and the fuel injectors won’t malfunction. I have the same 2.2 5SFE engine.
Did The misfired on cylinder 1,caused the code P0171 to set? There was no vacuum leak that caused P0171 to set?
merhaba.benim 2007 focus var. devamlı P201 P202 P203 P204 arıza kodları yanıyor ne yapmam lazım
Hi Angel I have a question sr. My Lola has a 2002 toyota camry Le and it shows Random misfire on 3 out of 4 cylinders and 171 lean...codes...I went ahead and replaced coils and spark plugs because she never had them done. STILL SAME CODES COME UP. MY QUESTION CAN A FAULTY FUEL INJECTOR CAUSE MISFIRE CODES ALSO... THANKS
Hi Lito, yes it can be bad fuel injectors or it’s plugged up.
@@FixItAngel thank you kuya!!!!🤙🏽

Hello sir, my camry 1992 model, works fine but few weeks ago I noticed it doesn't accelerate properly. Engine hesitate during acceralation and it makes it sluggish and doesn't speed beyond 40/45mph. Please what could be the cause. I changed fuel pump but still not solved.
A UTI multimeter...I thought I’d never see one of those again...mine just shit out on me not long ago it was a really good meter
How much did the injectors cost you? Fortune?
Exelent
nicebiro
Would you also replace that valve cover gasket? 🤔
Raul Rubalcava yes you can. Why not? You can replace it when it’s off.
So several of the plastic clip tongues holding the wire leads to the injectors have broken off due to age and oil exposure and won't release . Any alternative to snipping the wire and replacing with new clips?
Same here did you figure it out?
Is it always this case when it's p0171 and p0301 ?
were you able to fix it? what did it turn out to be?
helper for you
Hi Angel, I'm getting the p0171 code on 2000 toyota sienna... I took out the injectors cleaned them with carb throttle body cleaner, changed the little filters in them and replaced O-rigs one top and bottom for each injecter.. I also did valve cover gaskets, and the spark plug seals, I also changed the spark plugs and put in a new wire harness for the spark plugs. I cleaned the throttle body, and changed whatever hoses that were old and hardened. . I also replaced the intake plenum gasket and throttle body gaskets. Before this god I was getting misfire for cylinder 2 and 5.. after replacing what I listed above it worked fin for a little while then I got the P0171 code and check engine light came on.. Perhaps the spark plugs for 2 and 5 were bad and it would be better just to replace them all.. Do you have any suggestions? Anything will be very much appreciated, it's my dads van and I'm trying to help him :(
Hi Tony, try cleaning the MAF sensor at the air filter intake tube. see if that works.
@@FixItAngel thank you, I will try that.. I noticed there are 2 sensors connected to the throttle body, attached by screws. I think when I sprayed cleaner in the throttle body maybe some of the gunk got on those as well
@@FixItAngel I'm really sorry for such a long reply, I just wanted to be thorough to what I did to the car.
I have a 2007 camry same codes, the mechanic changed the coil pack and spark plugs and problem still there. 1.The car takes awhile to start, when It does if i drive for a couple miles and shut it off i have to make it sit for 30mins to a hour before its starts again.
2. There is a rough sound in the engine and it throttles really loudly and like its struggling.
3. While driving i notice after it gets to about 40 mph it's like it lose power and doesn't accelerate almost like it wants to stop it eventually will accelerate above 40 mph.
Can you give me an idea what the problem might be. I've been spending money on it and it's been to 3 different mechanics. And do you know a good mechanic in the Richmond VA area could recommend?
