I’ve done a lot of amazing things out in gods country but I don’t think I’ve ever known anyone to pack a big bull out and stop by the deer on the way back to load both up and head out. Absolutely unforgettable. Way to go!!
I appreciate the kind words! It truly was an exceptional hunt. I was not expecting to kill an elk. To take a bull this big and magnificent was absolutely shocking. It left me speechless for a while - and I’m not one to stop talking. Big thanks for the kind words. Best of luck to you and take care.
Watching your videos is what I expected my Colorado 3rd season hunt to turn out like. I can assure you that my Unit 33 hunt this year was NOTHING like your hunt! Well done on such an AMAZING experience!
Very kind of you to say. It truly was absolutely amazing. I still find myself thinking about how impossible the odds of that happening must have been. Good luck is something that we must all embrace when it’s our turn. Thanks again!
No question about it! Without doubt, I had luck on my side. I’m just glad I was able to execute and get him killed. Running shots through trees like that is not as easy as it might sound. I was hyper focused on the bulls vitals. Because of that, I wasn’t sure how big he was - which is why I was so surprised when I walked up on him. Thanks Jason. Best of luck to you.
You’re absolutely right! Having a bunch of luck on your side (or in this case… a ton of luck) is always better than being good. Thank you for the kind words man. Take care.
Thank you Koa. That’s very kind of you. I certainly have never experienced that type of hunt before. So it was wild to see it unfold in front of me. I could never have expected that to happen.
Congrats!!! I know you dedicate a lot of your time to teaching your boys and giving them opportunities. Im in the same boat right now and wouldn't have it any other way. Good to see you have a great day like that though. Nice animals!!
Hey Craig. First off, thank you very much for the kind words. I really do appreciate well thought out comments like yours. That means a lot. So… thanks. Second - it’s an absolute pleasure for me to hunt with my sons. I’m very blessed and feel fortunate that they all want to do what I love so much - and hunt with me. It means the world to me. Third - I wish you all the luck in the world with your own kids. It’s not always easy, but making memories is so important. Best of luck man. Take care.
Thank you very much. It truly was an incredible adventure. I was not expecting a chance at a bull. Let alone such a fine bull. I was very blessed and fortunate. Thanks again and take care.
Thanks man. I still can’t fully believe how it all came together. I do have one regret though… I agree with what you said - we didn’t take the time to take all kinds of pictures like I normally do. We had so much work to do, it was kind of just a just cluster and we worked for hours getting meat off the mountain. So… you’re not alone in wishing that same thing. Anyway… thanks man and take care.
Thanks man. I’m not sure about that… but I am having a blast every step of the way. I’ve been very blessed and am fortunate to have been able to be a part of some amazing hunts. This one might top them all as far as what it meant to me personally… but so many memories in one season. It has been incredible for sure. Best of luck and take care.
Awesome video, and great animals! I am trying to work on field judging, and am wondering what that bull ended up scoring? I am guessing around 325"? Regardless, I am sure that was a pleasant surprise to walk up on!
That is very close. It wasn’t until I got home with him and finished up the Euro Mount that I put a tape to him. He goes 330 5/8. I am absolutely thrilled with this bull and he’s much bigger than he needed to be for me to have been happy with him. Thanks for watching. Take care man.
Thank you Stantson. That’s very kind of you. It was a hunt that I will NEVER forget. That has never happened to me - I have also never even heard of someone shooting a buck and a bull on the same day, let alone on the same ridge and within 25 minutes. It was incredible. Thanks again man. Take care and good luck.
Thanks Armando. I wear all kinds of camo and have enjoyed most of the major brands. I always go back to Kuiu as the one that weighs the least and out performs the other fabrics and materials. Attack pants is the best place to start and Guide DCS jackets for on top. I own just about every piece of camo they make and there are some that I don’t like (I can’t stand the merino wool pieces) but for the most part, you can’t lose.
So… yes. One of the bullets from the other hunters actually did graze the bull. It was a non-lethal hit low in the back leg, that did a little bit of soft tissue damage. The bull was still able to run full speed and did not look as if he had been hit at all - when I shot him.
I know it’s for nothing… because it doesn’t matter at all. But when I was at home finishing up the Euro mount of my bull, I started looking at him thinking that he may have been a bit bigger than I thought. So, I decided to measure him again (this time with an actual tape and not a boot lace and piece of weep whipping line - since that was all I could find that was long enough to measure his beams in elk camp while in Colorado). As it turns out… my bull goes 330 and 5/8. I continue to be blown away!
It was a rather interesting moment on the mountain to say the least. Especially since the day before, we had another guy standing at the buck that my buddy had killed - thinking that he maybe had shot it too. To answer your question, it was a bit awkward at first, but once they realized that they had not hit the bull with a lethal shot, they calmed down. I decided to help them out though and let them have some meat. It meant a lot to them and they were very excited about it. I sympathized with them and could see that’s what they were hoping to have taken home. So, why not? I was happy to share some meat with them. So, we broke the bull down together, packed meat into our bags, shook hands and went on our ways. They were all nice guys that were very respectful. Glad it worked out the way it did. Thanks for watching.
Hey man, I am probably not going to say which unit. Just because I get that question so often and I don’t necessarily want to have a bunch more guys jumping into the same unit(s) that I hunt over there. It’s already a very heavily hunted unit.

That was incredible. Awesome bull and buck. That’s one you’ll still be talking about when you’re 90
Thank you very much. You’re probably right. That is… if I make it to 90. Ha.
Thanks again and take care.
You can't beat a bit of the old hunting luck! I will take it anytime! Outstanding bull & buck and great hunt!

Thats insane! I'd be beyond stoked to get my buck and 30 minutes later my bull.
It was absolutely wild. Never expected to have it happen that way. Plus, to have it be such an incredible bull - made it even more amazing.
Take care.
Good things happen to good people. Congrats dude, I’m so happy for you man!
Thanks Jared. You’re far too kind. As they say, even a blind squirrel gets a nut sometimes. Take care dude.
Congratulations Bryce! That's freaking awesome 👊😎🇺🇸

Thanks again Tony. You’re very kind. I’m still in shock with this one. I can’t believe it came together the way it did.
Does it get more iconic? A 6 point Bull and a 4 point Muely at the same time. Damn! haha well played sir

Outstanding, man. Congratulations! Great shooting. This is a day you'll be talking about for a long time.
Thank you sir! I’ll never forget it. I’ll also probably never duplicate anything like that. But that doesn’t mean I won’t try to.
Congrats on all the success!

Very impressive hunt, with a quick glance at the thumbnail I thought maybe it was a big 5x5 but boy was I wrong. That's a sweet animal, congrats.
Thank you very much. I always appreciate the feedback. Best of luck and take care.
That's incredible! If I may ask, what unit were you in? We hunted 60 and 62 this year, 2nd rifle season, and didn't even see a bull.
I'd call that a pretty epic day of hunting!
Thank you John. I agree. It was an incredible day for sure.
So great! 😀
Thanks!

Once in a life time hunt. Hey I see most of you are wear kuiu. If you don’t mind me asking how do you like them. Which ones are you wearing

nice ~
Thanks Dave.
What did the bull score? I'm guessing 310".
Close. He goes 326 5/8. He’s an incredible bull for living on an OTC unit.

Did thoes other guys who miss the bull elk think they hit the elk. And did come over and try to say they they killed it?

Do you mean a video of me explaining all of the gear I use? If so, I’m sorry, that would take several hours. I use a lot of gear.
