- One of my front springs broke with a loud bang. After removing the second one I found out that the second was broke for some time too. Probably the cause is corrosion.
There was no way to get the lower arm joint bolt out of aluminum I tried but everything ... on both sides. Video is shot on the second side. As you can see the shock is without the spring, i removed it the day before but then I found out it was missing the lower rubber protector so i assembled everything ... without the spring because I was not sure if the part will come soon.
There were three possible ways left to do it.
First to try and break the bolt, then to disassemble everything (brakes, semi shaft...) and drill out the bolt.
Second to grind the three rivets that are holding the joint on the lover arm and replace them with 3 M8 bolts (new joint kits are sold with 3 bolts),
and the third way was to remove the two bolts that connect the lower arm to the sub frame and try to get the shock out.
Shock upper nut 60 Nm, lower nut 110 Nm (bolt E14). Lower arm rear bolt (M12 E18) 80 Nm +90 degree, front bolt (M14 E20) 180 Nm, joint bolt (M10 E14) 55 Nm.
Very informative, good to see the job from start to finish
thank you for doing this, it helps me alot
bravo 🎉🎉
Good camera work
Great. Happened to mine almost as well...9 year old soring all corroded n such...u got the Quadrifoglio right?!
Veloce. 1.4 multiair with the same brakes, suspension and semi leather seats as QV. They should put some anti seize in factory... when there are two different metals.
True. But it is what it is. Love my QV...first Alfa n wont be my last. Great videos btw. Very helpful in case I wanna take things apart..a few modifications planned...soooo
The qv have Not the Same Suspension

👍
Hi mate bought one of these off a friend the original suspension has some type of sensor on it but he put on coil overs how do I cap off them sensors to remove the lights on the dash about the suspension
The only way I found to get the lower ball joint out is by using a fork type ball joint separator tool and a really big hammer. Nothing else helped me.
I could not get even the bolt out...
@@Mellyfilm I took the nut off first, and then continued to spin the bolt until it cut a thread in the aluminum oxide and pressed itself out, no hammering needed
thank you for doing this, it helps me alot
