Most of these wire into body tags are not alarms themselves as they are too small to house anything, the ones that are are larger and only go off when you try to pull the cable out of the socket, the main alarm is REALLY hard to activate since you would have to be VERY strong to rip it out of the socket. Only our broken ones would ever make noise, but eventually the battery gets low and the device beeps making itself unusable until the battery bleeds to death months later from its quiet beeps. The main body of the device will also trigger the in store alarms when people pass through the gates, as long as they have that system to detect magnetic strips making it still as useful as ever could be even with an alarm inside. These are still good deterrents on products and require at least decent tools to remove, which most of our addict shoplifters never had nor would invest in. Of course if you get home they can be removed with the right gear. Its good to know most people think they are more effective than they really are though!

the security tag sounds an alarm AT THE STORE unless deactivated. the cashier deactivated it when they rang it up. it works by transmitting an RFID signal to the plastic gates you walk by at the entrance to stores like Walmart. those gates are also what makes the alarm noise.
Well, the gate alarm already went off when I left the store, after they checked my receipt. The tag never did anything probably because they deactivated it like you said.

There's a radio frequency emitted from the tag, that is picked up by the sensor at the store exit (those gates on either side of the exit). The clerk deactivates the tag when you buy it, or they're supposed to deactivate it anyway. If the clerk doesn't deactivate it, when you walk out the alarm sounds and the security guard comes over and you show him or her the receipt.

LOL, I dont think any security tags work other than the beige ones at department stores. Question of the day: if NONE of things work, why put it on? It sure does waste time on the workers put those on and company wasting OUR $ on those dumb tags and metal detector that doesn't even work. I found you because my friend just had the same thing happen at Walmart and so she cut it and the alarm won't shut off and it's loud af. Haha it's in the bin outside and she's freaking out cuz it just won't stop. I thought I'd see if someone knows how to shut it up.
I came here looking for what other people had to say about these tags I got home and noticed one was on the zipper of a jacket I had bought on clearance and when I got home I noticed the little tag on it looped through the zipper and I simply cut it off with a pair of dykes, it started making this little beeping sound like it was counting down and after about 8 beeps this little loud chirping started and it was almost midnight, so I dropped it into this cup of coffee I had left on the countertop and that didn't stop it so I put it in the microwave and set it for a couple of minutes after about 45 seconds the chirping quit! If it would have been during the day I would have taken it outside and smashed it with a hammer to see what it looks like inside and maybe try salvaging the batteries or something, but I didn't think about it at the time.
It must've been malfunctioning or deactivated. How do I know? Today while I was shopping in Marshall's one of those same exact tags were going off. A real loud non stop beep. It was still attached to a pair of shoes on the shelf and noone was near it and the tag was still intact. It just went off out of nowhere. But it didn't go through a security gate so I think yours is a dud, Bud.
There’s still loss prevention workers in most stores these days so it’s risky to steal even a pack of gum with no sensor. But loss prevention and store security are not always too bright and often stereotype ppl and watch ppl they don’t like the looks of. Which lets all the “normal” looking ppl pass through the doors with carts full of stuff. I’ve seen it done many times. But if you don’t need to steal, please don’t try. It’s not worth it. I’m saying that in general, not to the maker of the video.

It didn't so that when I passed the gates, so I thought it had a tiny alarm system in it. This was testing it out.
It should ring if it is cut as long as the battery isn't dead.
