Let's Model the TITANIC in 10 MINUTES in Blender 2.81 - ep. 3

  • I challenge myself to try to model titanic from scratch in Blender in 10 minutes. This is starting to become a weekly segment and I aim to release a speed modeling video every Thursday.
    I use a simple 5 color texture to colorize this model and the modelling is mainly using loop-cuts, extrusions, and scaling of different primitive polygons.
    You can download the Blender file that I created in this video here:
    www.dropbox.co...
    I leave the 10 minute segment of the modeling procedure untouched with no cuts or manipulations. What you see during the 10 minute countdown is exactly how it played out.
    I also compare this model pictures of the real Titanic for good and bad :)
    I used Blender 2.81 and the video was recorded 2020-01-07.

    I just want to say thank you. Not only are your videos fun and informative, but you don't swear! I love that. I can't tell you how many times I've opened an art or program tutorial and was instantly assaulted with smutty language. So far all your videos have been clean and family friendly. I really do appreciate that.
    My BF loves the Titanic so I HAD to watch this one! :) I thought you did a great job!

    Titanic had the legal number of lifeboats. They we're intended to shuttle passengers to a rescue ship, not to hold everyone at once. Kind of a case of poor planning I guess. In any case, great job. That would have taken me 3 hours.

    • @Imphenzia
      @Imphenzia  4 роки тому +9

      Yeah, I remember reading about that too - it seems like incidents / disasters like these are what causes the regulations to be improved. I find it a bit strange that they considered it unsinkable considering the water could spill over the bulkheads if 4+ compartments were filled. Surely risk management, even in those days, would consider a scenario of scraping multiple holes? Apparently not - or the risk deemed to be too low to justify the cost. I wonder if it would have stayed float if they didn't detect it and took a full on frontal hit instead. Thanks for commenting!

      @Pac0Master 4 роки тому +2

      @@Imphenzia
      I would argue every ships of the time would have been advertised as being unsinkable or super safe.
      Even then, when she was created, she was the peak of safety at the time, the only thing they though could sink the ship would have been man made like a bomb
      But the bias toward tragedies makes it so we only remember this one and don't mind the others.
      Plus, they barely had enough time to ready all the lifeboats, having more would just mean the ship would sink with half of them still on board

    • @Apatetika
      @Apatetika 4 роки тому +1

      @@Imphenzia Looking at History, an iceberg collision like Titanic's fatal collision (a side swipe) was extremely uncommon. The designers planned for two compartments at most to be breached from a head on collision or puncture from another ship. (Titanic's sister ship Olympic was struck by a naval ship and survived)
      Note how i said another ship, an unmovable wall of ice would probably have sunk the Titankic faster.

    • @SpectreDelta
      @SpectreDelta 3 роки тому +1

      @@Pac0Master Interestingly the claim that the Titanic was "unsinkable" never really was emphasized until after it sank. prior to that it was mostly just known for being the largest ship ever built with state of the art features

    Wow - you actually constructed a version of the Titanic that would actually not sink lol. Great work. By the way - the barrels on the deck are called Capstain and bollards and are used for the rope rigging when tying alongside the Jetty when in a Port. (The actual ones on the real Titanic were only used once as they never made it to their first Port of call). Great work - keep it up.

    Idea for a 10 minute video. Let your subscribers build something with commands they comment to you on, up to 5 commands only for example starting with the cube; select top face, e to extrude, s to scale in 0.03 r to rotate your choose, select front face.
    I just sent 5 commands, and you can do this for your subscribers for minutes. Do it live with chat. That would be fun to see what gets made at the end created by your subscribers.
    On twitch the donation shout outside they can send special commands or what ever. Be creative with the rules.
    Anyways just for fun and and an idea.
