Hi Diane I like to spend a bit of time on Thanksgiving or before Christmas with my grandkids, looking over one of my favorite charity booklets Heifer An international charity that we can together choose a gift; for example a goat, chickens, or bees which will gift another family In another country. We enjoy looking at the booklet together and choosing a gift. It’s a great way to celebrate the Christmas spirit of giving. Thanks Diane for your inspiration ❤️Sarah
One of the best gifts I have ever received for my children is a membership to the local zoo or children’s museum. We used it so much. It was a free trip every time we went!
Great ideas for clutter free gifts....we have a local theater in our town and some neighbors are actors in the troupe...so I purchased tickets (very affordable - under $20.00 a pair) for our other neighbors so they can see a performance and meet their acting neighbors too...LOL....spreading the drama so to speak....LOL...Hugs..
All great gift ideas. I don't give that many gifts anymore but what I do gift is often handmade or home made or small, practical store bought items that I know the recipient will use. There aren't any small children left in our family and the grown ups don't need that much :-)
I look forward to your positive vids daily. Seeing you with your books made me realize I don't take the time to relax and read. Ill cut back on the tv watching. Have a great weekend.☺
I purchase a flower corsage for my mother every Christmas. A small cut flower arrangement is nice, too. I received a stemmed water glass from a neighbor one year. She filled it halfway with whole cranberries and water and then stood sprigs of pine and cedar out the top. A lovely gold ribbon around the stem and it was a lovely little bit of Christmas cheer. Very inexpensive, but lovely just the same.
One I just thought of...if someone has a wood burning fireplace, the gift of stacked wood for special occasions. Our daughter & her husband are getting this for Christmas.
Donations to a charity in lieu of a gift. There are some animal rescue organizations that send u an "adoption" certificate of "your" an animal. I have done this for my nieces, sister and grandma before. We also like to give a college fund contribution to our nieces, so they'll have a decent amount saved up once they get to that stage. We also have sent our nieces their own magazine subscription (suites for their age group), it includes stories, colour pages, craft ideas, mazes etc.... and then mum and dad can recycle it when they are ready to.
Lots of great no-clutter gift ideas - some friends of ours got a gift of Afternoon Tea at The Ritz in London, from their family, (a less expensive alternative could be at Marks & Spencer!) Lorna
Here are some ideas: set of horse riding lessons, art lessons, monthly library trip coupon for little ones, video recording of storybooks for grandchildren recorded on private UA-cam video along with the book mailed to them for Christmas, lap quilt for a home bound person
I love to get cozy pajamas or socks for Christmas. My grown kids get a cash gift and the grandkids get toys or clothes or jewelry or whatever their interest is per their age. The older grandkids love to get cash also Love your stack of library books very hyggley
Loads of great ideas! I fixed my FIL's teddy bear for his 70th birthday this year (you might have seen it on Instagram) poor Sandy had been unstuffed for 67 years after an incident in the bathroom 🙈 My FIL was delighted and it was so nice putting my skills to use on something that is so special to him X x x
That's awesome!! One year my boyfriend framed some prints I had that I kept putting off. He was like that idea is boring.... and I was like it's driving me that is not done. I am so happy he did it
My favorite gift to receive is probably socks. I like all kinds; "house" as well as standard. One feels so swish with a fresh pair on! I received some from my new "grandmother-in-law" as a teen. She knew me so little than I was surprised to receive a gift, and she had tons and tons of family to buy for. I was sincerely excited! Now that I am in my 30's, I still love them. Many of the men I know (also in my age group) have professed a fondness for them (and in some case other unmentionables, as well), too. (Basically those guys have usually bought a lot of tech and games on big seasonal sales for themselves, so they appreciate the "rebate" of needed personal goods!) It's a very tidy feeling to be all set with any kind of new socks. As far as being a "nice" gift, lately I've received advanced tech sport wool socks (e.g. smartwool brand) which last for years and are a definite good-to-have. ALSO, as a final note, a sock gift reminds me of the Yule Cat, a fun Icelandic Christmas monster. :D | I'm also thinking of getting some Petits fours from The Swiss Colony's site as gifts (as well as myself.) this year. Dearly departed family members used to buy them each year, and I think it would be fun to revive that.
I choose photos of the kids and of family gatherings and make a personalized family calendar on the computer. I add all the birthdays as well and then get it bound at a shop. It is something my family looks forward to every year.
Thank you again, Diane! I loved all of the great clutter-free gift ideas. I just thought of getting my sweet MIL a gift certificate to her hair salon as, I think, someone suggested! Have a great weekend!
Well Diane, you made my day reading out what I am doing for my sons teacher. Have just got home from meeting with family planning my wonderful 92 year old fathers funeral. He passed away on Tuesday. Thank you!
I left a treasured family photo of Alan’s to get framed. We picked out the frame and mat style together. He is very happy with it. We did get the concrete repair finished up for the season! Decluttered my ATADs and a thing a day for Christmas. Hope you had a lovely weekend. Oh, I have joined a buy nothing group here.
The old pics of family (WW2) and earlier, are fabulous framed. There are places that will "Andy Warholize" your pictures, and some that will apply gisele affects turning them into paintings.
Hi Diane, this year I am gifting two cinema tickets for friends. Also my homemade Scottish shortbread (lots of good butter) and Oreo truffles are always a winner! You're looking great as always, greetings from Germany xx.
o.k. diane, nothing on instagram yet, nothing on you tube! enough recharging! time to get off your bahoogie and post something! lol! hope you had a great weekend! i, personally have stopped the exchanging gifts thing years ago.that happened for many reasons. people today seem to have everything, so much so that nothing seems to excite them, and i have experienced lack of appreciation from many. as for family, well, i am always buying them all they need, so when xmas comes around, im all out of ideas. i believe that the ones who will never disappoint you are the little ones. just at the sight of boxes under the xmas tree, waiting to be opened by them, is enough to excite them and fill their little hearts with joy!
Hi Diane. Great video. Gifts I prefer to give are High tea, movie tickets, lottery tickets, Champagne picnic in the park or a manicure for friends. 🇦🇺😎✔💎
Thank you for all these wonderful videos and ideas. We give gift cards of Supermarkets & movie tickets to our teachers, and got our 16 yr old(birthday gift) and her friend concert tickets. Got Amazon gift card as a graduation gift to a college grad. Amazon gift card for my husband as he's always on the Amazon website :) Love everything you do, Diane XoXo.
Hello, as a fellow cosy crime fan I wonder if you have tried the books by Rebecca Tope? There are two separate series one set in the English Lake District and the other in the Cotswolds. Thanks for all your videos x
I make coupons for services for my daughters - they are all drivers - I will take their car one time to the local car wash and vacuum their car. bring your laundry home, for the ones in apartments, (or at home coupon for those at home) and have a wash and dry on me. a home made dinner to take home or favourite dinner for the ones at home. for home ones - home blessing in bedroom. one daughter loves her long hair brushed - so that is one. and one ten minute back rub. a nice tea and time together and the local french pastry store.
Fantastic exhaustive list this video! Went to a birthday party, this weekend, for a friend at work. Took Russell Stover's, box of birthday chocolates with a card. My other friend, having just had a baby, brought an assortment of things she had lovingly decluttered from her home. She nailed it! I think her gift was the most thrilling of the bunch. More than that, very intentionall, and matched the birthday gals interest and heart. P.S. I always like upgrades, so, if random, assorted tools rattling around in the kitchen drawer, that really belong on my husband's work bench, then I spring for an upgrade of a tool set with floral handles, corralled in a case. The subliminal message is please return here, and don't clutter the drawer. Also, I love flowering bulbs. Think it would be extraordinary to receive a year, one a month, of flowering bulbs.
Dear Diana, I have a question: I receive quite a few guests over the year, not for holidays in general, usually over the summer. Do you do your zones/missions/blessings when you have guests? Or you skip those days and try to catch up later? Thank you and have a nice weekend! 💚
Right now it’s 3:34 am in Youngstown , Ohio USA on 16 November 2018 Friday . Clean out the car . Fill it up with Gas or Petrol. Clean out purse and gym bags and totes . Date night . Zone cleaning . And getting ready for THANKSGIVING ...
Such wonderful clutter-free gift ideas, Thank You, everyone! Yes, the Christmas puddings are sooo fun to knit. Just doing a re cap of your previous videos. Last Christmas I just gave Son and Dtr in Law a cheque to pay for a treat for themselves and panto tickets for the grandkids..I did little gifts wrapped up for them too. Due to Covid the Panto became a little complicated as the theatre was in lock down... best laid plans eh? I normally do eaty and drinky presents or handmade gifts, but wrap them beautifully , I refuse to buy throwaway cheap plastic and rubbish that has been imported by the containerload from farwaway places.sadly when I receive such goods it ends up in a charity shop .. useless dross and it's wrecking the planet.

I’m taking my grand daughters to the ballet to see the nutcracker suite this year.
For parents with young children: volunteer an evening babysitting so the parents get a chance to go out for dinner, movies, etc
Yes Margaret!! This is what I was thinking. It doesn't cost anything and it's helping parents to maintain their relationship.
Maybe even a gift certificate for a restaurant so they can have a nice dinner while we babysit 😊

Love this kind of thoughtful Christmas present which help you, "deck the halls with boughs of holly!" ♥️

Omigosh Cheryl Ann!!! We totally need to do that for my mum who is always freezing!!

I always laugh at the name pakkeleg- because it sounds like 'pack a lie". That seems like a very good description of a white elephant gift!
LOL! I had never thought of "pack a lie", Holly - brilliant!

Great ideas! Thanks, Diane and those of you who responded. You are so right to set a timer for Pinterest, too.
One of the best gifts I ever had was a ticket for a chocolate tour! Lots of free samples and discounts.
Great ideas, thank you and I'm really intrigued about the book Murder For Christmas. I too love a good cozy mystery.
