There is a critical flaw in the quantine tunnels you show btw, and it's a common oversight i've seen a lot in multiplayer. Vines and Thorns. Normally, a 3 wide gap is enough to deny the infection, but if there is ANY dirt, mud, grass etc, where it is possible for infected grass to grow and create thorns or vines, then those thorns and vines can extend about 6 or so blocks further, easily more than tripling the space needed. In one example in a multiplayer session on a newcomer streamer i once played with, i helped them with learning and doing more rather than just speeding through the game and getting pulled along by everyone else. One thing i showed them was how to cut off the spread. I helped cleave around pre-hardmode crimson, but first thing ppl kept suggesting was the lazy "bomb the outline" method, which was just gonna fail eventually. Later, while i tried handling the early hardmode hallow slice that was on the left map, the streamer was continuing to cut down next to the jungle to deny the Crimson slice left of it. She did well, except for ONE single dirt block that she didn't suffocate by replacing it. Crimson spread to that one block, grew grass, and i was just in time to catch it before thorns grew to breach the gap. It's easily done. If you want, you can add this info to a video (or just pin this comment) if you feel that people should know. Suffocating the grass is vital to stop leaks.
The tunnel method does work, but you have to build a wall of incorruptible blocks between the 2 chunks of world that have been separated. With this method all you need is 4 block vertical and horizontal tunnels (and then build the 2 walls).
@oilyomelette yeah, that's what i mean't, but having corruptible stone and ice also works as long as it isn't dirt or mud that can create thorns/ vines. I tested the stalagtite growths, they don't spread infections even if corrupted. Just gotta suffocate grass /mud of a 3 block wide straight tunnel, and it's enough. It can't spread past it then.
when you enter hardmode, the game infects two massive diagonal slices of your world with the hallow and the corrupt biome making the v shape, I think it's usually centered in the middle of the world
To quote the Demolitionist: "Why purify the world when you can just blow it up?"

What is "the V shape"
