Simply amazing! I can't believe how well Waymo operates with all the unpredictable cars, pedestrians, bikes, state boarders! There were some situations where it could improve and have less lag time, but this is a legit robot taxi, ready for prime time. In this video, you were throwing so many difficult scenarios, and drop-off locations. A typical ride wouldn't have all these difficult edge cases to deal with!
"pretty different vibe from SF."
people in SF setting a waymo on fire:
The sound of the turn signal is enough to drive one crazy!!!
I think Waymo appreciate customers documenting their trips, so they can learn what the car does in terms of everyone's safety both in and around the vehicle.
Waymo can get very close to fixed objects (like posts) because, unlike humans, it knows precisely how wide the car is and precisely how wide the opening is. Lots of pedestrian and scooter traffic! Waymo was really hesitant at that blocked intersection. Maybe they should include headlight flashes in the programming. ;-) The contested lane change was hard for Waymo because it isn't assertive. But overall, it handled this difficult route beautifully. I am impressed!
I love the reactions of bystanders!!!
These GTA 5 mods are getting out of hand
This is REAL LIFE not gta
@@liasutton7020It’s a joke chill
13:54 oo, just had one of these situations 2 days ago. It was awkward
15:54 the hard brake could also be for the foliage. The car looks like the sensor on the top is headed straight for the leaves in the tree. Perhaps with the leaves so close, it misidentified something else
Quite the torture test. Glad to see the car handled some pretty hairy situations. Makes me wonder, does the car drop off then return to it's depot, or wait for another call nearby?
10:01 "max 5 mph. DO NOT BACK UP"
oops!
That green board :D
i wonder what would've happened if we truly got stuck at the exit. would remote assistance try to reverse the car?
Excessively wobbly on narrow streets. It would be more predictable for people if it went straight.
Waymo. Alphabet secret sauce to 10 trillion
There’s no reason for it be so close to obstacles. I assume by its hard phantom braking(15:56) that its perception is far from “precise” lol
I'm new to your channel. Is this strictly a test Waymo in Los Angeles? If not, how many of these Waymos are in So. Calif?
this is like some Watch Dogs typa stuff lmao
Interesting on the permit thing. No extra charge for it, like the airport?
I think they are just letting the self driving cars go where they want at the moment! I was curious if the car would have to exit through the gate shown at 6:40.
+1 to luke i think this is accidental
That’s exactly why the air can afford a nicer car than most humans. Humanless cars don’t road rage either 😂
17:02 overtaking everybody from the right is an asshole move, no wonder if nobody lets you in.
I think it's because you're constantly changing the destination lol. I have seen your like most or almost all your videos and I can definitely say I have seen waymo hard brake multiple times when you change the destination right before it parks lol. It seems like waymo gets confused when you do that
It may brake firmly when I move the destination closer. This one was a lot harsher. (I’ve never experienced such a harsh brake from past destination updated.)
@@KevinChen5 I remember your China town video and remember it was going to the side to pull over. You then changed the destination and it was going through an intersection and there were people like in front but a little far away and waymo still braked hard. I think it just gets confused a little bit when that happens lol they probably need to work on that.
Is LA well-covered by Waymo? Like San Francisco?
tha hard brake is a punishment for playing with it
0:02: That car is noisy
WHAT WAS THE POINT?
If you don't like Waymo why ride. It seems that you purposefully put the vehicle in some of the worst situations possible. The chapters are listed last minute lane change, right on red, indecisive route, and other derogatory things. It's obvious you were trying to have the vehicle error out or get into an embarrassing situation.
Just don't ride again.
We learn more about Waymo's system when things are not working perfectly, rather than only driving along easy routes
It’s debugging bro. You find problems and update on those exact issues
lol you think these things get better automatically? if we dont stress test, we dont improve
