The Memphis Grizzlies turn 25 next season. Travis Prasad says to mark its silver anniversary the team is throwing things back to when the team was located in Vancouver.
As a Portland fan, it's tough! I would love to see the NBA back in Vancouver, but Seattle absolutely gets priority over Vancouver for an NBA team. So it might be DECADES if Vancouver gets another shot. Maybe not in our lifetime.

Bill Foley owner of the Golden Knights arena helped constructs T-Mobile arena and he’s openly stated that he’s not open to sharing the facility with another franchise. Seattle and Vancouver both got hard done by from the league.
As a huge Memphis Grizzlies fan this is sad to see. While I'm glad Memphis has a team I would also like to see Vancouver get another shot. Also I will be buying this jersey as soon as it's made available...

Vegas is a hotbed market right now because they just uplifted sports gambling 3 years ago. because Vegas was known as a betting town for so many years and still is that's why teams were not initially allowed to locate there. Vegas is a rich and prosperous city (the strip) and there are plenty of billionaires who would take a NBA or MLB team to Vegas. They have two brand new state-of-the-art areas. Same thing with Vancouver having an NBA team they have a top-notch facility to host a team along with many foreign billionaire investors who could potentially be NBA owners not to mention the Aquilinis are one of the world's richest families and they are based out of Vancouver and they also own 100% share of the Canucks so ultimately I will not trust you on saying that they won't have a team again Vancouver might not be as flashy as Kansas city Louiville Baltimore Pittsburgh, San Diego or other bigger name American cities but at the end of the day the NBA is a business. Lastly I would like to point out the NBA did not fail in Vancouver, the NBA failed Vancouver. Unsteady ownership from the beginning and they only compiled 101 wins in 6 years which is an average of 17.25 wins per season which is mind blowningly terrible not to mention they were also ranked between 15th and 20th on ticket sales for five of the six seasons they were there. also David Stern and Adam Silver have both been open on regretting the decision for the team leaving Vancouver and looking there as a possible return (you can find Adam Silver talking about it on UA-cam in a CBC documentary) It's all about business, not the city.
@@jaydurant3048 a team back in vancouver would be insane and i hope that it is done soon. i think that they need more teams in the pacific northwest and they need to expand more especially because the nba is one of the biggest sport laegue right now. they should add team in seattle in vancouver. and maybe move the mephis grizziels and new orleans pelicans into the eastern conference since they are more on the eastern side of the states
That's actually a really good idea. Would love to see NOP move to the east and have Seattle and Vancouver as northwest expansions but realistically expansion is unlikely to happen so if Seattle get a team via relocation Vancouver should get a G-league team, besides Sharif Abdul Raheem is the G league commissioner. Him and Bibby the only OG Grizzlies to have found any success after leaving VanCity.

The owners are the ones people should be upset about. Memphis embraced the Grizzlies name and is of right now showing love to Vancouver. My friend and his little bro came to Vancouver from ATL when they were 14-15 years old and they didn't even know of Toronto or that we have a French speaking province. Another friend of mine from Miami I met while I was the University of British Columbia (UBC) he came here because of the lower Canadian Dollar and he didn't even know what a province is (a Canadian state) and he always jokes about how his friends thought Canada was covered in polar bears LOL, these are 18-19 yr old men here. I love Charles but look at Charles Barkley and his geography skills you can find it on UA-cam. All I'm trying to say is unfortunately stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason my friend. You're almost sounding like Steve Francis when he demanded a trade because an older lady who worked at the YVR airport thought he was part of a rap group. At the end of the Vancouver is in Canada, and we will not get get the same networking exposure as Seattle or even Vegas. Realistically next to Seattle and maybe Pittsburgh Vancouver has probably the next largest basketball fanbase (with no NBA team) and always has. There is a huge appetite for the NBA in this market.

That’s not a knock on the people here, most are hyper focused on their job and feeding their families, but it is true nonetheless. The Grizzlies coming here was one of the best things that happened to this city, especially the grit and grind era with Randolph, Gasol, and Conley. I do hope that Vancouver can get themselves a team one day, Toronto doesn’t reserve the right to rep all of Canada in my book.

If Vancouver doesn't get an NBA franchise, then give them a G-League one for Seattle, if the NBA returns to the Emerald City.
