Bibby was absolutely an upgrade from JWill. Bibby was such a great shooter with a great hesitation crossover he would beat his defender with, smart player too. Don’t forget it was Bibby who nearly took the Kings to the finals in game 7 hitting all of those shots down the stretch when CWebb looked like he didn’t wanna shoot
You are right. I hate to say it but you are still right. jwill should have played smarter.
If Vancouver took Vince Carter the grizzlies would still be in Vancouver. The GM that van had was notorious for picking players that didn’t want to play in Vancouver.
Right! The very next year Steve Francis told them he didn't want to go there and went to Houston instead
100 facts

How do you know VC wanted to play in Vancouver.... ?
He was a bad man on the Kings against the Lakers
He was average you trippin , he has never been a bad man
@@Lord_Meccayou clearly did not watch the games.
if steve francis didnt throw a fit nba would still be in vancouver today
No
WTF is with Bibby trying to rewrite history. Attendance was at more than 17,000/game at General Motors Place in Vancouver's first season, but dropped each of the next two seasons. During the Grizzlies' last two seasons in Vancouver, attendance averaged 14,000/game.
There is a difference between tickets sold (to scalpers for example), and actual attendance
I remember we kept getting free tickets from school, because nobody wanted to go……😂
Vancouver management was dumb...never won anything. Should have got players that were fine going there. Paul Pierce said he thought he would play in Vancouver with Shareef Abdur-Rahim.
Vancouver looks like such a dope city I don't get the hate
It really is, beautiful place to go, bad drug problem right now though that’s been spiraling
most players never left the country. Toronto used to have this issue before players would go their every year. also remember that vancouver was a garbage nba franchise so it wasn't an attractive destination.
No one tryna live in canada
pee pole leave dere tho
@@kkfnToronto is amazing. born and raised American. Huge upgrade living here.
The nail in the coffin was drafting Francis when you already had a PG in Bibby. Big Country's large contract and injury cost them huge. Shareef was a stud. And needed a second guy to take the burden off of him. Dickerson was a solid return in the Francis trade.18 ppg then 16 ppg. Before his knee injury ended things.
People calling Vancouver “dumb”: Do a deep dive on how the odds were stacked against them. I’m not saying they were perfect, but they had many obstacles to begin with - on top of numerous players that would refuse to play there. The NBA made the mistake by starting a franchise there - and having them ineligible to have the number one pick for a couple of seasons. Stu Jackson wasn’t a genius, I know… but he also was put in a position where it was pretty much impossible to win there.
Even David Stern admitted that the Grizzlies situation was the biggest regret during his tenure re: not allowing the ability to draft a first overall.
Stu Jackson ruined the Vancouver franchise.
Bibby was trash.
I hate how he also trashed Vancouver. Dude was a fan favourite there and on top of that NO NBA team had 3K people at the gates.
All is creatine is getting to this guys head.
Damn! No one wanted to go to Vancouver! It must have been purgatory up there. Steve Francis did the same a year later
It's like the same with toronto, no one wants to be Trader to Toronto or stay there as a free agent
It's not a basketball cities and many players don't like living in especially in the colder month!!! That why they select a lots of international players because they most likely stay
@@siqaraminmassaquoi1999 Vancouver has the same weather as Seattle. It's not that cold you silly Americans.
Problem is a lot of Americans not all but a lot like Bibby, Francis are ignorant. Seems Bibby still is. Vancouver usually voted top 5 liveable cities in the world. Can’t say the same where Bibby and Francis are from.
@@shawnjohnson4391LOL so true
Problem with Grizzlies was the office never developed a clear direction nor identity for the team
Making all the drattings seem "improvised" and figure out on the go
Bibby would be a sought after PG in this era with his shooting and play making
I got his autograph when I was 11 in his rookie season and he didn't seem to want to be there
Imagine if they took Paul Pierce, and then Steven Francis the following year (assuming they're still bad).
ay'yo mike bibby dawg. - my friend in high school
I don't know about anything Bibby is talking about but we he said he "was in the gym working out." I said Facts!
Clippers were dumb as hell to not pick bibby
Clippers were dumb as hell not taking Carter or Dirk or Pierce
Yeah. We don’t claim you Mike 🤦♂️
The funny thing is, Vancouver is a nicer city then half of the other cities in the NBA and it’s not even close it’s just cause it’s in Canada
The Vancouver Grizzlies Gm was the worst General Manager of all time Stu Jackson if you look back from 1996 nba draft ,1997 nba draft and 1998 nba draft they got no.3 pick in 1996 they could pick Kobe Bryant , then in 1997 they got no.4 pick which they could pick Tracy Mcgrady and in 1998 pick they could pick Dirk Niwotzki at no.2 pick instead of mike bibby imagine Kobe, T-Mac and Dirk in one team maybe perhaps they had a BiG 3 and who knows won a multiple Championships in Vancouver …. The worst GM of all time period stu jackson ….
Stu then gets promoted to NBA exec 😮
Kobe wasn't gonna play for Vancouver. He only wanted to play for the Lakers. Part of the reason why he fell out of the top 10
Vancouver is Top city in Canada now, Every Millionaire from China is here
Toronto is
S/o Mike Bibby you heard
Mike really looks just like his dad now.
Leaving Vancouver is a great feeling.
One of a very select few players in NBA history who gave Lakers fans nightmares. NIGHTMARES I'm telling you.
Shutup
I really believe and will always say Vancouver and the NBA gave up on the franchise too quickly. The Raptors sucked too in the beginning. You can’t build a winning franchise overnight.
For any hoop heads interested, theScore did a 10 minute recap of how the NBA completely screwed the Raptors and Grizzlies as expansion teams (very interesting watch... apparently the NBA did not allow either Canadian expansion team to pick in top 5 the first year, AND pick #1 overall the next years after... plus they couldnt use the whole salary cap, etc)
So, by the time Bibby was drafted, the Grizzlies sucked thanks to the NBA, and the Grizzlies first owner hiring Stu Jackson -- who will one day have his weird face immortalized when the Mirriam-Webster people finally put his photo next to the term "diversity hire".
Griz should of drafted Dirk
Bibby sucked until he was surrounded by Webber, Doug, peja and Divac. He shot a bunch of open shots in Sacramento with those guys. Give him credit for knocking them down though.
Bibby is a whiner no wonder he didn’t win a dam thing. Truth be told Vancouver should of drafted Carter. He would of been the superstar Vancouver needed at that time. Bibby all he does is whine and complain. News flash you didn’t have it as bad as you think.
Stu Jackson Had some
Huge Misses🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿 Antonio Daniels over T-Mac🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢 Picking Mike when they could have at least got Antwan Jamison or more importantly Vince🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿🤦🏿 The Stevie Franchise Debacle when they could have taken Lamar Odom or Baron Davis was the Nail in the Coffin😢😢😢😢😢
Carter woulda wanted out of Vancouver just like Toronto
Drinking age is 19 there he should’ve been excited
This guy was the best player on an 8 team win, and he’s complaining about fans
No class
Huh, When did he complain?
its just american player and their arrogance and not wanting to play in canada. you are being drafted, you dont get to pick. pay the taxes you gotta pay
slavery much?
@@godsfavoritt771 it's the nature of the sport. If you want to have a somewhat competitive league talent has to go places they might not want to be. And get paid for that.
You don't grow a sport nationally, internationally, globally, without it.
Or the Lakers can be the best Los Angeles based rec team.
Tell Eli Manning and John Elway that clown.
@@godsfavoritt771 L.
@@godsfavoritt771that's an incredibly stupid take. You're saying the draft of MLB, NFL, NHL and NBA is tantamount to slavery? Ridiculous. Smh.
In my opinion Mike Bibby was Stephen Curry before Stephen Curry
Cuz they both mixed lol?
Mike Bibby might be more like CP3
Not even close bro
Mahmoud Abdul Rauf lol. Bibby doesn't even play the same style
Only in your opinion 😂
Canada is embarrassing
Not as embarrassing as America. Atleast in Canada don’t got to worry about wearing a bullet proof vest to go to places. Can’t say the same about that sh*thole of a country America.
At least we don't have mass sh**tings.
Why is it embarassing? At least you don't wear bullet proof vest in school because some American Psycho might have a mass shooting range.
