This the first video I've watched from James Knight. This had to be thee most informative yacht tour I have seen. Not only does he praise the manufacturer but also points out shortcomings he feels could be better or done differently. Not afraid to speak his mind. That's an honest man. While I may never be able to own such a boat I do like trawler yachts. Was never a fan of fiberglass hulls for open ocean travels, prefer steel for things that may go bump in the night. But after watching this I may give them a second look. Keep up the good work James!!!
A retired lifelong merchant mariner here, after watching this video, _my_ verdict is: *The Nordhavn 62 Technical Boat Tour - **_Expert_** Level!* . . . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thanks for sharing James & *Yacht Tech Inc.*
While I like the Nordhavns a lot, I'm increasingly attracted to the Fleming yachts. James' knowledge of boating-what's important, how gear and engines should be built, etc., is second to none, so I'd love to see a video where he goes through a Fleming and then compares the merits of the two brands. It would be entertaining and really informative!
28:10 Interesting segment on bow thrusters, + rewind' a min for elec vs hydraulic. There isn't anyone that can touch James' knowledge and willingness to candidly share that knowledge of Nordhavns, Salenes, and yachts in general.
Love your video! I don’t own a boat. Only in my dreams will I own a Nordhavn 63. But know this if I win the lotto my first and only call for a 63 is you. Thank you for keeping my dreams alive. Hope and praying to call you soon.
Thank you for taking the time not just to sell the aesthetics but to explain the actual operation and maintenance of the individual systems. Your knowledge and experience are beyond price. It’s very obvious to me that you would be the folks an owner can truly trust. You taught me more in the past hour than if I had taken a course. Again, thank you so much. Bruce
When I buy a yacht motor or sail would not procede with the sale until I had engaged this guy to check to check out every detail stem to stern. I have watched thousands of videos on yachts for sale yet I have learnt more in this one video than all the rest. Criticaly important information to. The kind of stuff you only learn with a keen eye and experience. I guess it helps that he obviously loves and lives his work. Thanks this video was awesome.
I dont sail. I dont live by water. I dont have any money. Why am I here. I dont know. I think I just enjoy listening to someone talk about a subject matter where they've seen it and done it for so long there isnt a question you can't ask they dont know the answer to. This guy knows Nordhavns. I even recognized the Mermaid Monster reference.
James, your talent for showing boats is EPIC!! You go over the good, and the bad. While most "brokers" are telling me how their boat is perfect, none better. You are telling me the truth. There is no one perfect boat made by anyone. They all have areas that could be improved. James it would be an honor to buy a boat from you. Be happy, be safe.
You all probably dont give a shit but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost the password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Axel Amir thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Thanks for the gift James! Your walkthroughs are never a let down. It’s great that you made this one longer. Proper length that lets your knowledge shine.
Thanks for the very nice Xmas gift! We were drooling over those automatic blinds, the insane closets & the crazy nice pilothouse head, among other things 😉
Your videos are brilliant. Your a huge assett to Nordhavn. I own a Dutch built MY, a Mulder 76 that’s just completing a refit. After watching only two of your videos I have added dozens of “must do” projects to my task list, which is why I plan to own a Nordhavn next time around.
Christmas Day morning and what a great present to sit down with a brew and watch this video. I do hope that one day you will do a 68, it seems as if many of the issues you highlighted have been addressed in that boat. Merry Christmas to you and all of your viewers from the UK.
Now this is what I call a thorough review.....a real deep-dive if you will. Those other 5-10 minute boat videos....replete with drone footage and snazzy music clips.....are nice, however, they gloss over (or entirely miss) many important details of the thinking that goes into boat systems and construction. This video is packed with a ton of valuable information for both the serious buyer and armchair sailor alike. A huge thank you to James & Matt with their ongoing efforts. Topic idea: Doing a boat review while onboard during a sea trial.....providing your experience and analysis while leaving out the music so we can take in the sights & sounds of the experience.
Great video for somebody that doesn't now anything about boats, like me. Thanks for the professional tour. Nice to watch someone that nows his stuff. 👍
Boy; this guy knows his stuff! Knowledgeable about electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics, with a good nose for hounding out corrosion where others would probably not even look from month to month.
Can you please clarify for me, which boat is 62 and 63 in the two small video clips?? Cheers! I figured out at the end, thanks. 62 on the left and 63 on the right.
I know you did the first video for just a few people to see. 5 Video's later you now have 175,000 views. There is a big difference between what a salesman will tell you & what a service tech will say. Even though most of your viewers will never be able to afford one of these wonderful Nordhavns I seriously think some landlubbing lottery winner is going to call you and say come help me because you are the "dude" when it comes to knowing these boats. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Great job James and Mathew! I have been viewing your videos for sometime now because of our dear friends Dave and Angie of the Good Hook formally Floating Stones. I have gained tremendous knowledge based on your videos. I am now viewing for hopefully crewing with Jay Flaherty on the 6318 Gitana ll from West End to Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Your fire suppression explanation will be a huge help since I believe Jay will be testing this very aspect of the Gitana ll. Thank you!
Just ran across your channel and I absolutely love it, just subscribed. You are awesome at this. Please keep it coming, I wish everyone was as open about everything as you are. Thank you for everything and I will be calling you for my next purchase for sure!
Just a though on my part, but if iI was buying a new Nordhavn I think I would ask you to set down with me and spec the boat out before I ordered It. It would be VERY worth it.
Thanks James. As a Dreamer (and perhaps others), I am fascinated by these 'little ships' and hang on every feature you discuss. As for video length, the longer the better IMHO. As for future reviews, my heart says the 46 but my head wants the 55/60. Thanks again.
So James -- it is fair to say that I have learnt more about boats, their maintenance and "issues" by watching your videos than I did attending a number of courses. The voice of experience from guys who make a living looking after and fixing boats is far better, to my mind, than some random instructor who just trots out the same material many times a year ....

Second time throught the all of it. Looks interesting but needs a real navigation program to cruise knowingly. Thanks for it, will remember ! HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021 !
Good point on keeping the lazarette hatch closed while running, although most fire suppression systems in my experience usually hold more Halon than needed to cover the cubic feet it’s not always the case so leaving the hatch open may exceed the cubic feet for the system. I had many years in land and marine fire protection business and saw a few mishaps.
Excellent walkthrough video of the N63, informative, interesting, and entertaining. I am sure the folks at Nordhavn taken/will take a load of notes on improving the future N63s and the other models. I am sure your customers feel very secure with the knowledge that their life and joy was meticulously operated on. Your passion for what you do is a rare commodity. Merry Christmas James

John, one of my techs was the service manager for Marlow. We work on a few. I like the boats but not as much as Dan Knies. One of my best technicians. They build a great boat with a beautiful interior. If I was crossing an ocean, I’d take the Nordhavn. Bahamas cruising, perhaps I’d take the Marlow :)

Love these videos! Please, please do some of the smaller boats (40, 46, 43). Something a bit more attainable. The video details are so great. Anyone looking to buy one gets such an amazing walk through. Thank you for doing them and of course the longer the better.

@@yachttechinc1754 I can’t wait. How much better is the ride in an aft pilot house compared to a fph ?? I’m starting my research it’s almost time to retire.
Love the full feature reviews, as Siskel and Ebert used to say “👍👍two thumbs up” I truly never appreciated the aft PH Nordhavn until your videos, but when I decide to upgrade from my Krogen the aft PH set up has definitely moved to the top of my list of things to consider , it’s refreshing to hear your real world experience in how they handle ect. Much more informative than others general “reviews/walk abouts”
I had a thought as you went through the engine room door. I think boats should have the same monitors used for confined space entries mounted in the engine room with the read out just outside the door. That way you could verify adequate oxygen, no carbon monoxide, and no explosive atmosphere. But really it would be the first two to worry about. It is a confined space. I think it's obvious I worked in an industry where we had to do confined space entry permits, and I don't like to see people go into confined areas that could trap noxious gases without being able to verify first. And it would be really easy to set up.
Just wonderful, as others have said not a salesman but a "technician" who knows his craft and passion well done. Last thought, your record-keeping is terrific, have you consider alternative or mitigation controls if you have a "fire" or another event that could impact the office? Small business owners should complete an exercise and look at the potential risks and outcomes, doing this will help you consider what controls are needed to mitigate or eliminate (costly??) the risk. Would love to be your Nordhavn client someday...
James, you've done it again!! Another fantastic walk through. I do think you should overrule your camera man and do the 3 hour video but that's just my opinion lol. I love how you spot every little problem. Many would not be as scrupulous as you are. Tons of points for the filing cabinets full of history of the boats that pass through your company. Really appreciate your time and effort, not forgetting your patient camera man. I would love to see you walk through the 120 but I can be patient. When I buy a Nordhavn you will be my go to guy. Stay safe and happy new year.
Thank you Sue ! I’ll have a word with Matthew. Was planning to shoot some video today but it’s rainy here in South Florida. I fear that 3hrs of me in one video would get me all kinds of thumbs down symbols :( I will be looking forward to your call. James

I truly never appreciated the aft PH Nordhavn until your videos, but when I decide to upgrade from my Krogen the aft PH set up has definitely moved to the top of my list of things to consider , it’s refreshing to hear your real world experience in how they handle ect. Much more informative than others general “reviews/walk abouts”
Thanks Geoffrey
Happy New Year !
Great job James! Love the head room comments...

James I love your videos & all the knowledge you have for this well made brand of boats ..
I don’t own a boat .. But I’m hoping one day I will 🙌❤️
Just wonderful, as others have said not a salesman but a "technician" who knows his craft and passion well done.
I could watch a 4 hour episode of this no doubt! Extremely interesting, and well made. Almost makes me want to own a boat :p
Hello James, your videos are excellent.. many thanks... can you do a walk through on N59
Between you and James Hamilton, I'll be able to build my own Nordhavn with the knowledge dropped by you both.
I fear that 3hrs of me in one video would get me all kinds of thumbs down symbols :(
I will be looking forward to your call.
James
Nice work James. I'll be calling you in a few years for my Nordhavn. Looking forward to the 55. p.s. I like Matthew's shirt! Go Hawks!
Go Hawks !!
55 next I think......
Looking forward to working with you Monte
Happy New Year !
Casual and thorough . I learnt a lot James .
Yet another great video James. Happy New Year to you Mathew and the rest of your family. Stay Safe.
Is there control over, the parts, and control of software access for the Deere components, like their farm equipment?
Very nice , it reminds me of the tour of ISS , thousands of details
Awesome thumbnail!
Pretty comprehensive. Well done.
