Great job James and Mathew! I have been viewing your videos for sometime now because of our dear friends Dave and Angie of the Good Hook formally Floating Stones. I have gained tremendous knowledge based on your videos. I am now viewing for hopefully crewing with Jay Flaherty on the 6318 Gitana ll from West End to Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Your fire suppression explanation will be a huge help since I believe Jay will be testing this very aspect of the Gitana ll. Thank you!

I must be a lucky one to have piloted one of these from Guernsey to Malta via Gibraltar some years ago. 4 hour watch, 4 hours off-watch for 2x6 days. Yes, the crew head at the back was the only one we could use for several days as we would have smashed our heads in the guest head due to 10 food head seas crossing Bay of Biscay and part of the Mediterranean. Being an astronaut: yes, 30 % of the off-watch time I was weightless in the twin guest cabin, but actually sleeping most of the time (after a while, anyway). This is exactly the right size boat for a couple, actually my friends who bought it sold their house and now live on their 64.

Look fix an arc shaped slide between the ladder on the starboard side of engine room (remove second rung) and the grab bar on the port side of the engine. Then put another grab bar centerline down from the overhead. Now all you have to do is grab the bar and go over the slide. It would be easy even for my 68 year old fat ass.

I've just pretty much decided, if I do end up getting one of these boats, I will not be doing the repairs, although I more than likely could! I will not be washing nor waxing anything, I won't even do my own cars, why would I want to do a big ass boat ? When I get one, I will be able to comfortably and carefreely enjoy it in full and complete retirement or I simply will not own one! I'm thinking I'd be better off just chartering one to get it out of my system,,,

This is a really good review, but he seems to find a fault with everything.. Does he not understand that nothing and no one is anywhere near as perfect as he is?

I like the idea of having two engines/screws for ease of maneuverability and redundancy while on the ocean. Would you suggest a Nordhavn with that fitting?

I had a thought as you went through the engine room door. I think boats should have the same monitors used for confined space entries mounted in the engine room with the read out just outside the door. That way you could verify adequate oxygen, no carbon monoxide, and no explosive atmosphere. But really it would be the first two to worry about. It is a confined space. I think it's obvious I worked in an industry where we had to do confined space entry permits, and I don't like to see people go into confined areas that could trap noxious gases without being able to verify first. And it would be really easy to set up.

Thank you James and Matthew for your great walkthrough video! Interesting to hear all the "behind the panel" stuff also. Regarding the power assisted steering not working on the gen ptu; I used to work as an Officer in an 1950s passenger cruise ship. In that ship hydraulic pressure for the steering gear was produced either by a chain driven pump off the prop shaft or by an electric pump which kicked in automatically should the shaft driven pump fail. Perhaps something for Selene to consider 😊 Best regards, Jimmy

Very instructive video, certainly on fire hazards and solutions. It made me wonder how you will protect all those very useful maintenance folders and files you proudly have in your office. One crazy fire, and you're blind.

How does Kadey krogen compair to these Two manufacturers

The Hoover Dam has one man to switch on and one to turn it off but it needs a whole town of mechanics and electricians if it goes wrong . Buy a sailing boat.
