Very good review. I had a test drive in a Dolphin at the Everything Electric show and liked the car. But I didn't feel like going over 50 mph in a car that I have never been in before and on bumpy country roads around Harrogate. I have seen a lot of reviews of the Dolphin and there have only been two reviewers that complain about the screen brightness: you and a man in England. Both reviews were on overcast days. The Australian reviewers don't moan about it and that surprised me because of the bright and sunny weather there. Maybe there is an auto brightness controller that gets confused by the cloudy weather?
@@peterarmstrong3853 Thank you Peter. I am pleased to hear that you love your Dolphin and have not had any problems with the screen. At the moment I have a 10 year old Nissan Note and will problem replace it by next summer. I think that the Dolphin is a complete package with a good range, a heat pump as standard and an infotainment system that works well. It is not perfect, but there again nothing is, and the only thing that I can fault is the choice of colours.
Thanks for that feed back Catherine...great to hear! I drove the car In Ireland over a week. Also drove it in Spain at the launch a few months ago for a couple of hours. I stand by comments on the brightness...but of course we're all different and there's probable other stuff that didn't bother me like it would other reviewers. I did play around with the settings and no joy. I also noticed that brightness was ok using the Navigation but then dimmed again outside that. Thanks again for the comment!
@@peterarmstrong3853 I made a comment about the colours on the UA-cam channel "Nevo EV Review Ireland", Derek Riley said something like "Irish people like normal colours" and mentioned that British people do as well. I think that the pink and purple colours will be difficult to live with. I think that the colours should be (normal) metallic red, metallic blue (a bit darker than the existing blue), metallic grey, white and black and if demand exists go for dark metallic green then purple and pink. I will be getting the Dolphin unless anything better comes along, although I am hanging on in case the car gets facelifted with the new V2 Blade battery, also I asked my insurance company for a quote for the Dolphin and they didn't insure it. BYD and Ora are working with Thatcham about improving the insuranceability (if that word exists) of their cars and hopefully there will be less insurance anxiety in the future. If I do get the Dolphin it will have be white with the grey roof and bonnet, it will have the same colours as a dolphin. That assumes that better colours haven't been introduced by then. I saw a metallic red Atto 3 at the Everything Electric show at Harrogate and it looked spectacularly good and up market. I wish that BYD would do that with the Dolphin.
It's actually the Traffic sign recognition you hear. I made a shortcut on the home screen to disable that option so it doesn't beep anymore (you have to disable it every time, courtesy of European rules on new cars).
Marc got in there already! Bit of a pain as the recognition element is quite poor. In principle it's a good idea to get people to slow down and save lives...in practice it's frequently frustrating. Thanks for the comment!
@@MarcVanstraelen-iz2ktoh how do you make a shortcut to that setting? I switch it off every time I remember to before setting off but it’s four or five buttons/swipes before I get to the setting which is a bit of a pain!
I have one of these, just upgraded it to version 1.3. The TSR can now be turned off (permanently) and the annoying warnings have been reduced so that I can leave everything else on. Wireless Apply Carplay also works now. Basically they have addressed all annoying software issues. Love driving it!
You've passed the test...you were paying attention! I'll edit it in the next week and schedule in then. Ended up getting a few other videos recorded that I had to schedule in first. Thanks for the comment, and hope you enjoyed the video!
Reckon Chinese government should made into law battery range declared by manufacturers must be ultra conservative. Lets just say if your stated range is 500km you must have at least 20km over margin so that's 520km in the real world driving. If any country can do that it would be China:)
Spec is great with heat pump and adaptive cruise etc, but Jez it’s ugly especially outside and the interior is fussy looking. If it looked more like an MG4 I’d be all for it! Thanks for the review

I have covered 9k in mine and had no issues with the screen. I absolutely love the dolphin! A very underestimated car

@@catherinegrimes2308 I have The urban grey model. It also looks good in black.

Here in Brazil its selling a lot , BYD cars, Seagull too.
Good stuff, they're great value for money! Thanks for the comment!
Interesting review. Lots of beeps when driving. What were they and have they done any OTA updates to make them less intrusive? Thanks

I want a pink one! 👍😊
Where is rhe range test?
The audio had issues when I went to edit. Trying to get another car to refilm a couple of parts of it.

Good point, we certainly need a better way to communicate range to potential buyers. Thanks for the comment!

Agreed, specs are great, "but the face..."
Delighted you enjoyed it John...and thanks for leaving a comment!
It's missing a back window windshield wiper. Agree that the car is phenomenal.
There is one
It's got one, mate.
I tried it out it's ok. Rather buy a Tesla.
