"Every second counts."
Literally the perfect episode
Out of context, "every second counts" sounds like really basic corporate work propaganda, but as you watch the episode and see Richie talk with the head chef, you learn that the saying comes from a pretty cool and loving personal experience of hers and her father's letters.
@@inimicalintent8825 Exactly. At first you think it's so corporate grind culture tagline to get people to push, push, push. But it's about making every second worth it. For yourself and everyone else.
She asked for 1 minute then answered his question. so professional.
I miss your old reviews!
Richie's transformation after he starts to get it is so amazing to watch. I really thought the writers would have had him be an antagonist for the show but instead he stepped up and became one of my favorite characters. Great writing, great acting, and a great show!
Same. A lesser show would have tried to replicate a 'Sopranos'-style storyline of having a major death at the end of the season, and after watching a few episodes of Season 2 of 'The Bear,' I was thinking it would be the likely suicide of Richie. Kudos to the writers for subverting expectations.
I love Richie's story ark and transformation, 100% agree with you on this, he fumbles around but by the end of season 2 he becomes the hero that holds it all together opening night.
Found myself feeling so proud of richie , dudes not even real but im walking around super proud of him. Hahaha such a great show moment .
@@traviserlston6563 It's also funny if you watch Richie's actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) in interviews because he's such a nice dude.
I've watched this episode over & over & I always cry. The self respect Richie gained is amazing.
Ebon should have gotten an Emmy nomination for this episode
I learned in the marines that yelling at people only goes so far. People need to be properly motivated and given a sense of purpose in order to thrive. Thats what richie finally has.
I used to work with a Marine helicopter pilot and he became a business coach. His service have him great skills. We weren't used to that type of blending into the workforce in the UK, still aren't now 25 years later. The US is just better at it.
@@davidhale8034 Nah the US military is trash
“Private Pyle I think we just found something you do well!”
You’re right. I had a Sgt, sgt Hernandez who commanded respect but didn’t berate or yell all the time. He was great at making you see the big picture and why we have standards and do things that may seem mundane and useless but very necessary to unit discipline. He was stern when he had to be but it was never to make you feel less and more to get back up
those poor afghani children won't kill themselves amirite?
This episode made me cry, man. We finally got to see Richie thrive, and in doing so we understood where all of his anger came from previously.
I watched it three times and always start crying when you see him transforming and finding his new path.
I've never belted Taylor swift out so loud !
I'm glad it's not just me! When I saw the direction it was going I started to lose it immediately. And even then, I was mentally preparing for it to all be taken away by the end... then it wasn't, and I had to take a break before the next episode just to let it sit emotionally for a bit. The only thing I really, really wanted in Season Two was growth for Richie and my expectations were exceeded by miles.
@@samsthemank : Same! Just watched the episode not too long ago and when he put on the suit, I was applauding for him like a proud parent!
I'm a food industry lifer, from dishwasher to chef to business owner and all of it, and this entire series makes me cry all the time! Amazing show, the character development is top notch and possibly without comparison. Just great stuff. If you're in it, you will feel it for sure.
I love that everyone's so good at what they do, no one is an unnecessary jerk to Richie. They want the new guy to succeed because he is part of the crew.
Team work at its finest
Garett was a great boss. Watch him eat the CDC's wrath about the smudge
Absolutely great scene beautiful show beautiful cast great show
@@joshbarghest7058honestly I love how he expresses his passion of this job and to him every single position here is critical, nothing is less important than another, if u can’t even do cleaning forks properly, how can u expect them to give u bigger opportunity
the way she totally flipped from teaching mode to go mode and didn’t even change her tone totally got me. season 2 had so many great moments like that
@@dougwhelan7689 she realized he’s insane but also totally gets it, which you need when running an expo like that. I say that like I know wtf an expo is, but you get it
I like how everyone at the place shrugged off his brash nature in such an elegant environment because they appreciated his eagerness to learn above it all
A place like that, absolutely nothing matters but competence, because nothing else can distract from that one priority.
This episode did what I thought was impossible: it made me like Richie. Even more importantly, it made me understand the point of his character. Flawless writing. Flawless.
Yessss forreal!! Richie was so irksome but I really started to feel for him, specially in this episode.
Ritchie belting out Taylor Swift's "Love Story" was such a fun moment. And he's still cursing out other drivers while he sings, as one does. Perfect scene.
All of this. It also made me appreciate what the staff does.
Richie's character development is a joy to watch. From "all of you will leave me behind" to "I got this."
I was proud of Richie this episode, He really learned patience
_...Thats my boy right there!..._
Patience, yes, but I’d say it was more about purpose than anything else.
Service and respect.
Self-worth
We really felt like Garrett that moment@@v1d300
This was probably my favorite episode of the whole show and it was so well done. I got choked up when he asks to take the pizza to the table and is so excited about it.
My husband watched the finale with me even though he'd only seen bits and pieces of the show. I burst into tears when Uncle Jimmy gets the chocolate covered banana. What a testament to the writing and construction of the show that such a simple thing could illicit so much emotion.
And the bastards made the plate tilt so much to makes fear that he was going to F it up... lol
I agree with you 100% This was also my favourite episode of the entire show and I also burst into tears over the chocolate banana.
Humans at their best here. And I would add the description of giving the teacher who was saving up for the Michelin star restaurant a free night on them is another gold star moment. I finished the series last night and I can’t stop thinking about these moments. Exceeding people’s expectations is the higher form of love and respect
Ugh the show hangover from it is BRUTAL. Nothing compares to youuuu, The Bear
@airjoca This!!!! The way he spun it around his back I was like RICHIE NO
@@BaileysMariner when he did that i was thinking to myself "that stuff better be glued down!"
For someone who's worked in the service industry this scene is like porn. Perfect communication, teamwork, coordination and emotional intelligence is an underappreciated artform, and this show absolutely nailed it.
Thiss is one of the most uplifting episodes I've seen on any series during the past 50 years. It brilliantly shows what happens when people see something untapped in us and we "get it". Richie is the patron saint of those who feel left out, insignificant, talentless, alone, and rejected but who finds himself when just one person believes in him.
I love that you refer to him as a patron saint, the many subtle Catholic references on the bear make it so authentic and touching
My favourite thing was the takeaway that its never too late to re-invent and start again
I'm nowhere near on this lady's level but my job is kind of like hers and it's difficult to explain to people because compared to most other careers my work revolves mostly around very frivolous things but "Every night I get to make somebody's day" is exactly why I adore my job too.
Awww :) people like you making eating out fun
This scene totally got me. Her Job is the only one i would like to have. Be the dompteur of a highly stressful evironment. It feels like it is totally exciting and rewarding when you know at the end of the day that you did your best to direct everything.
Expedite. I did this in a couple of very busy kitchens, one of them known for its burgers and sandwiches. You're like an orchestra conductor. I like how she could answer him while staying focused until she needed to get the orders out. I like how everyone addresses each other as "chef".
they better get an emmy for this episode it’s amazing
yea everyone is talking about the family christmas episode but i felt it was so overly contrived. this episode is the actual masterpiece of the season.
@@adhir.8348How was the family episode contrived?
@@adhir.8348EXACTLY! I was trying to explain that to someone
I think it has a lot to do with stars playing family members: Jamie Lee Curtis as the mom was JLC over acting to me; Sarah Paulson was just a star acting as a cousin
John Mulvaney was ok
Bob Odenkirk was phenomenal, but prior to Breaking Bad & BCS - he was a character actor
@@nancyjulian6714 I have a mom like that, and have read many accounts of moms like that, and I swear to you, as weird as it sounds, its not over acting: It's very accurate for that type of person.
@@sammypercy388same, my mom is exactly like that and when sugar kept asking her if she was okay all the time, i flinched every time. there was only one way that was gonna end...
I totally understood and related to Richie’s frustration after like two episodes. I’m not his age, but I constantly feel like I’m not where I should be, like my friends hate me, like I have no direction or purpose… This whole episode was so cathartic. It’s never too late to find your place.
IT’S A LOVE STORY BABY JUST SAY YES
I got laid off the day before season 2 went live. I was going through all the feels and feeling low and like I didn't belong anywhere. After emotions settled for the week, ended up binging the bear. This episode really turned it around for me. I loved his transformation and it really hit me in the feels. Glad to say that I was able to be employed after a month and it came with a surprise raise.
This is seriously one of the best episodes out of both seasons. His character has genuinely surprised me.
This was my favorite episode of the season because it shows real growth and how Richie finally found his purpose. Marcus, Sydney, and Carmie found their goals/dreams long ago and have been pursuing them ever since. On the other hand, Richie has never amounted to anything because he never truly knew what he wanted to do. I love the change from apathy and disdain for the tasks he's given to respect and admiration for what is needed to provide excellent service.
Richie was the MVP this season. An incredible performance by Ebon Moss-Bachrach!
This man is going to be amazing as Ben Grimm / The Thing in the Fantastic 4 movie.
I love that Richie was able to find himself this season. It’s chaotic but so precise and accurate and seeing him transform was brilliant writing 👍
The fact they had the balls to use one of my all time favorite pieces of music (Diamond Diary - Tangerine Dream) with this scene blew my fuckin mind. This could be the perfect episode of television ive have ever seen. Bravo. I work in customer service so i cannot say how much this episode meant for me.
It's such a perfect homage to that first scene in Thief. You're just watching people do their jobs really well. They love their Chicago movies on The Bear.
@@TheyCallMeBruce13 They sure do love their Chicago movies on The Bear. Further evidenced by their early use of Tangerine Dream in the first season, "The Dream is Always the Same", which of course originated in Risky Business.
Instead of James Caan throwing away the worthless stones in search of the real goods, we have the head of service ruthlessly commanding the kitchen. Such a perfect use of the track.
I thought it was Tangerine Dream! Thanks for the song name!
@@dangeerraaronapologies 😂
This is an absolutely fabulous episode and Richard Jerimovich probably earned an Emmy from his portrayal of Ritchie. The excitement from Ritchie when he delivers the deep dish reminds me of my restaurant years and the joy you feel when you make someone's day.
Ebon Moss-Bacharach you mean
@@HarperNguyenHe just won an Emmy on Monday !
But not for season 2. He deserves it for season 2. Because of the writers strike, the Emmys are a year behind. I was hoping they'd give it to Anthony Carrigan from Barry.
Watched this with my girlfriend, couldn’t withhold my excitement for his character growth. As he starts understanding the process and the dedication, I kept saying “Ritchie finally found purpose.”
As a lifetime restaurant worker of some form, who absolutely loved every second of this show…THIS episode to me is something special. I can’t overstate how well this was written, directed, acted, everything. Richie’s transformation as he starts to “get it” is inspiring
Love how they used the music from the movie Thief. When Richie takes over expediting in the last episode is also awesome! Insane character development...quality acting and writing!
this whole sequence goes so unbearably hard.
songs name is diamond diary by tangerine dream if anyone was wondering.
I knew it sounded like gta v's ost, thanks man!
Richie the underdog. You just want him to succeed. Great character development, amazing episode.
This transformation is one of the best iv seen in a long time. seeing someone find his place and wanting to change like that was pretty cool.
Best episode of the entire series and one of the best episodes of TV ever.
And yeah, it's better than the Christmas dinner one.
AGREED I rewatched it several times, like a mini movie
Christmas dinner was good but too showy for me, it was clearly their "Emmy episode" a la Review from S1 and pulling out all the stops with the guest stars, the yelling, the stress, etc. Forks is definitely my #1. So life-affirming, warm, and positive while not forgetting to make Richie organically grow and work for the payoff. Just wonderful TV.
@@KhajitRugCompanyGuest stars were a dumb move - except for Odenkirk
Would have been more realistic with unknown or lesser known actors
How doe guest stars make it more realistic? Such an absurdly stupid comment@@nancyjulian6714
Just finished with S2 and went back to S1 right away...the growth that Richie goes through in S2 is inspiring. Having gone through a dark moment at work this is really motivational.
I was so stressed out watching Richie carry the food to the table 😂
Fantastic writing on this show in conjuction with incredible acting. Season 2 of Bear is one of my favorite seasons of a show in a long time. Superb.
It's nice to see this scene again. Makes me realize Richie watching her expedite and learning gave him the confidence to expo the bear in the last episode.
Spoiler 😢
Seeing Richie thrive at the Michelin star restaurant was brilliant. It was great to see Richie Shine.
This episode was so satisfying and the needle drop at the end was MAGNIFICENT.
Running expo on a busy night is one of the most stressful yet invigorating and rewarding jobs in the kitchen.
As a server this is my most loved episode from season 2, Richie's transformation to become a better man for himself is so heart inspiring that Ebon Moss-Bachrach did an amazing job bring this character to life. Cant wait for another season and I want to see this man Richie get a Queen next season while helping Carmen with his relationship and troubles with the restraunt. Please keep this content coming.
I wear suits now
This was my favorite episode of the entire series so far. I loved everything about it and seeing Richie grow like this was something i didn't realize i needed to see.
Great show.
I love this show. Funny, thoughtful, deep on so many levels. Love it!
Amazing acting, amazing writing, one of my favourite scenes.
Definitely my favourite episode so far! Experiencing stepping up to the big leagues through Richie, and seeing his inevitable growth and the better sides of his character (warmth, humour, excitement...) was just amazing. Visually stunning as always, but this episode felt a notch above the rest. Which I think was kinda the point, particularly after the chaos and intensity, not to mention outright mess that was Fish. (also an amazing episode tho). Love this series!
Richie has stepped up this season 🙌. Can't wait for the next 20 seasons. This show is absolutely awesome.
This was one of the best episodes of any show to have ever been created. I knew Richie had a moment coming, I can't wait to see how he closes out the season.
Just brilliant. All of my favorite shows have one thing in common at their core- great writing.
This is one of the finest episodes, finest character transformations I've ever seen. Simply mind-blowing and yet all believable. Way to go Cousin!
one of my favorite scenes this season
One of my favorite episodes.
I can only imagine how much that place makes
My absolute favorite episode thus far
Absolutely brilliant episode.
I gave the biggest AWWWWWW to this episode 😢
Richie is really a good guy
I worked in restaurants for 8 years and never had the revelation or felt what Richie felt like this episode. I know it’s a show, but I think it really shows how somebody can stick out the restaurant business and even love it.
This might be my favorite scene in the whole show. Richie’s character arc is insanely good.
This episode and the Christmas reunion is so PRICELESS. MASTERPIECE!
The best episode, tear jerker. Amazing stuff.
best show currently on TV. when you look at the stars wanting to appear on this show, you know you've got something special. JLC MUST get an Emmy nod this season!
Strongly disagree
IMO she was a star WAY over acting. An unknown or lesser known actor would have been more believable in the role. Same with S.Paulson.
Bob Odenkirk was great
Mulvaney meh
Ebon who plays Richie should DEFINITELY get an emmy nom
My favorite episode of The Bear.
One of my favorite episodes of television ever
This is great and everybody should watch the 1981 Michael Mann masterpiece “Thief” because of this scene.
Firstly because it is great and secondly because it really elevates one of the core jokes in Being John Malkovich.
This episode is beautifull dude.. honestly give me chills so happy for this character.
Being able to stay calm in hectic situations and STILL being sociable and hospitable is an extremely important skill. Glad to see Richie figure that out, along with finding a purpose in life and having respect for passion and work ethic.
I love it when he serves the deep dish
Thank you so much for this clip! I need this to motivate me so much. Much love to the channel, show, and fellow fans
One of the best episodes of TV I have ever watched.
Best episode so far
The scene where he finally served filled me with so much fear I have never ever been so enthralled at what’s possibly a simple scene but Richies evolution has been amazing
One of my favorite episodes in the entire show.
I love this episode, such a good progression for his character.
Lovely episode, made me truly proud
Loved this episode.
I was so happy to see Sarah Ramos in this show!! She was perfect for this role
This was a very uplifting scene for me on a personal level for some reason. If you put in the time and have the right attitude, anything is possible. Great show.
I cried many tears through this episode. Brilliant television.
I remember watching this episode and first hearing the soundtrack from “Thief” by Tangerine Dream, I jumped up and was so excited! Ritchie is the best!!!
this is the best episode of season 2
This is the best episode of anything I have seen all year.
This episode and "Fishes" are two of the most amazing episodes in TV broadcast history. I am so happy Ebon is winning for his portrayal of Ritchie. The Emmy's were only for season 1. Ebon should win again for Ritchie's character arc this season. Everyone else should too, but Ebon deserves it all for the season 2 Ritchie glow-up! Thank you so much for bringing this show and these characters to the screen!
Loved that scene. Ritchie really comes into his own and learns the value and satisfaction of making people happy.
Favorite episode. And Richie became my favorite character after this.
I was waiting for an episode to make me like Richie. I knew it had to be coming, and it was so satisfying when it finally did. Can't wait for season 3!
Great EP!
The writers nailed it in this episode. Richie's transformation was great to watch.
One of the best shows around today. The acting and writing is top notch. Jeremy Allen White is off the charts.
Loved this episode! Finally the audience is able to see how capable he really is!
Richie's character arc is literally one of the best I've ever seen on tv or the big screen. He becomes so great. You really start rooting for the guy.
hands down one of the best episodes of the show
The music is the most underrated aspect of this scene
Great episode
This series is SO satisfying, because it believes in people.
He was such an awesome experience this season. It was fun watching Richie transform from delinquent brother trying to "make" a space for himself in the restaurant to someone who finally buys into the whole experience, the work, and the details.
this episode man ... hard to hold my tears
Best episode. Best character.
When the camera focuses on Richie's cowed face in the beginning and you see it light up as realization hits. Just wonderful directing and acting.
is that the Thief Soundtrack by Tangerine Dream showing up in The Bear??
Diamond Diary
This show is just perfect
Best ep of the season for me. I was pumped for Ritchie!! Lesssgo chef!!
Best episode of a fantastic show
The entire second half of this episode is like Lost levels of wholesome.
