AMATEUR DECORATING LIKE A PRO , Do you like how the homemade Chalk paint it holding up? I was just wondering how it compares to Annie Sloan Chalk Paint of other name brand chalk paint.
I started chalk painting about 1.5 years ago and I am very pleased with my recipe. And I am getting ready to do additional projects using my recipe. I have never used Anne Sloan's chalk paint but obviously she is successful for a reason. However, I am on a budget. That's all :) Thanks for stopping by.
AMATEUR DECORATING LIKE A PRO, I have used a homemade Chalk recipe on my Grandson's bed, dresser and a highchair. The paint seems to be holding up well. The only reason I asked is so many people just think her ( Annie Sloan) paint is like no other, but it is expensive. I am all for saving money and if something cheaper works, I am all for it. I plan on painting my kitchen table and chairs in the very near future and was just debating on using the homemade chalk recipe or a name brand.. I believe I will go with the homemade chalk recipe, Thanks for answering my question and I really did enjoy your video. You explained the process very well.
Beautiful job i was going to throw away my chairs now you just gave me life. But when you rubbed the chalk paint what do you do add a top coat or something to seal it?
good video. love how you did the scrollwork. p.s. i staple once in the middle of each side then corners first when recovering a chair cushion. i find that the folds happen more naturally. subscribed.
hello like this, I loved his work finished and I 'm really enthused to start mine ... makes more than 10 years and I have the same furniture , which I love but I like it the idea of painting them white , my question is, before you give sanding paint ? God bless you and very nice taste.
Thank you. With chalk paint there was no need to sand at all. Just started painting. I know you can do it. I read books and watched a few you tube videos then I just dived in. Thanks for watching:)
@ 8:40 Actually, you can get your fabric as tight as the manufacturer by using a canvas stretcher that can be found at any art store or arts and crafts store like AC Moore, Michaels, Joanns etc. They are only a few dollars. Also, when stapling, make sure the back end of your stapler is resting firmly on the back of the cushion. In the video it was turned around and dangling in the air. This is why you were not able to put any force onto the stapler to get the staples to properly imbed into the backing. Most staplers will require that you lean your body weight into the stapler and then staple in order to get a proper, firm and flat adhesion. One final tip, if you are planning on doing some DIY's around the house it would be wise to invest in a PURDY brand paint brush. You can find a 3 pack for under $20 at Lowes or Home Depot. You'll save time and money and get a perfect finish. You'll thank me!
Looks great! You were an awesome instructor!! I can't wait to get my hands on some chalk paint. By the way, I love your voice, both singing and talking.
