- In this video, we begin building Denny's twin-turbo 69 Chevrolet Corvair. These cars are normally mid-engine, but we'll be moving the motor up front and replacing the V6 with a high-horsepower twin turbo Nelson Racing LS V8. This car will sit on a custom Roadster Shop chassis with massive 6-piston Brembo brakes. It'll also be getting tons of metal fabrication, custom interior, custom wheels, and so much more. Make sure to follow this build closely, it'll be a wild one!

These old dudes have so much skill it can't even be measured in time this channel is awesome they do builds on a whole other level
If the Corvair ends up looking anything like the artist's rendering, its going to be one bad ass car!
I was pretty stoked to watch this build until I saw that it was going to be a front engine car. Mid-engine Corvairs have been proven to be excellent driver's cars. That's what I was hoping to see here. I'm sure it will still be a badass build...
I love it when someone has the stones and the wallet to do the audacious. Fuck, anyone can do a 69 Camaro or tri-five Chevy, but a twin turbo Corvair with those mods, is insane, or crazy, crazy like a fox.
D T B D
The only thing Corvair is the body shell. It could be any freaking car in the world with a custom chassis and high dollar aftermarket front mounted engine. That's not to say the 2nd generation Corvair shape wasn't beautiful to start with.
Beautiful workmanship on a truly forgotten classic.
The only thing missing is that flat six. It would be great to see the Corvair be brought up to date even water cooled like the 911. Chevrolet/GM kicked that technology to the curb long before it had a chance to evolve.
The Corvair is one of old GM’s most forward thinking , out of the box design triumph . This build, stunning in concept and craftsmanship is little different from any number of SEMA or Roadster Show or Riddler builds. I wish their mandate was to maximize the rear/mid engine design. I don’t think air-cooled would survive, but Porsche has proven that the original form is not only viable, but can be world class. A missed opportunity to be sure , but whoever commissioned this beast will have a stunnning car !!
It was chevys first turbocharged platform too, if I’m not mistaken.
Right, thanks to Ralph Naders shenanigans. The whole project from GM got rained on deeming it unsafe.
The Corvair makes a great project. I cant wait for the next video.
I agree you just don’t see any Corvair’s, This is a great project.
It's great seeing cars being built like this Corvair. Everyone seems to build Chargers, early Camaro's and while i know customers kften dictate what is built, it's awesome to see a car that isn't necessarily a go to for customisers! These two dudes are f'ing amazing!
It's a little Crazy but YOU GUYS NEVER DISAPOINT!!!
I've been dreaming about doing a widebody to my corvair just like this for years. I'm so glad I will finally see it before I commit to making my own.
If you guys are, What you are on camera, most of the time ? That's the mojo to build a car with . That's the vibe you need in a fabrication shop
I've always loved these cars. I drove a '69 Monza for a summer - it belonged to a spoiled little rich girl I was dating. I always felt that the car could have been balanced better and that it needed more power. I think you've got all that worked out. I can't wait to see it finished.👍
Great watching the Comedy duo in the fab shop again. 🏴
This one is going to be Really Cool! Never see these ones get done to this extent! And they are pretty darn cool body styles
I've been wanting someone to do this conversion for a long time, my dad had two corvairs and I've always wanted to do something like this...bad ass !!
so much to think of. awesome stuff..watchin these two dudes messin around with the seats was gold
Classic Car Studio almost makes me want to move back to St. Louis where I grew up. Anyone remember Matt Johnson and Wise Speed Shop? How about heads up racing in earth city or Friday nighs at Gateway inernational? What about Duncan Transmission? Great memories!!
Looking forward to watching the process of this build! Thank you! 🔥
Another Great Build, can't wait for more episodes!
Gonna be sick. Cant wait for more!
I hope it turns out like the concept drawing‼️🏁🏎💨🤌🏾
Mark has the safety bandana and Scott has the safety earrings!!
I love it, I've always loved the Corvair.
This Corvair design is an excellent idea...great job lads.
Just great insight of the work that goes into the fabrication process, love it 🇦🇺🦘
I'm looking forward to this build!
killer car but even better the bikes!! I went to the Hutch factory and bought my Trickstar. I've had my old haro master w/ACS z-rims my many pro performers with skyways. I've love a video show your bikes. cheers
Been waiting for this build! Thanks for sharing!
I'm so happy right now🥲
More Corvair content, PLEASE!!!
This project will take a while, so we’ll have lots more videos on this one as the build processes.
Can hardly wait to see more!
matt from @MattsOffRoadRecovery should see this! hes sucker for corvairs and this would be hell of a daily driver! :)
I've always wanted a crown 'Vair.
Love this build.
Nice high end build! For a true mid-engine Corvair build in a guys home shop look up John Reynolds.
Super Cool ?
The picture !
I always wanted one of these , mid-engine , roots blown small block Chevy in back seat area , with skinny weld wheels in front , tuck 15/10s in rear with a 315/60/15 drag radial in back , be nasty 👍👍😬😬😬
Love Corvairs
BIG things, come in SMALL packages
💯🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Love the rims !!!!!
This is going to be Killa
That thing's gonna be so cool!
I miss them on Speed is the new black. The info is wrong though as it was a rear engined flat 6, not mid engined v6.
OMGEEEEEE… Can’t Wait
This is gonna amazing
Love this project and look forward to following it!
Coming along very nicely...awesome work boys
Great work. Wouldn't mind working there lol
I had a 65 Corvair some years ago ... the flat 6 had a aftermarket 4 barrel, headers, and a 7 quart deep sump oil pan (extra oil is very important with air cooled engines). I loved the lines on this car and the drawing shows a really aggressive stance so I'm interested in seeing the final result. I also helped build a 65 with a 327 Small Block in the 'back seat" ... the light Corvair and the 350 hp small block was pretty potent. Today you can get that sort of performance from a V6 or 4 cylinder .. the big advantage was weight (total) to HP and nearly 60% of that weight on the rear wheels.
I subscribed because of the good looking girl in the passenger seat ;)
I’ll let her know!
I think the corvair body shape looks a little sleeker than the camaro. If GM had kept developing the concept they could of had a "world car" on their hands.
Looking forward to the build ...
C8 Corvette engine, drivetrain and suspension would be killer in the back of a Corvair.
It looked good in cardboard and tape !
Hay guys take a look at Matt's off road he has a 4X4 Corvair station wagon and his Radiator in the front end. His Corvair is older so its more square.
Someone needs to tell Matt about this one...
He loves Corvairs
I like it!
REAL MEN DO REAL THINGS!
Check out David Gunnars from Sweden Corvair-build with an Audi Rs6 engine in the back 😊😊
Bodywork looks awesome just wish you'd kept the original rear engine,
GM & Chevy should have fixed the small problems with the Great Little CORVAIR. And Twim Turbos would be Terrific.
What a bitchin ride ... you guys make the coolest projects ... great video ...
that is a Beautiful Car, I just Subscribed =)
If I win the lottery 😊😊
Wasn’t the Corvair designed for a 283 in front when it was first designed.
The rear engine idea was a good idea. At least I thought it was.
What makes the Corvair special is the rear engine
Coach building is just making a custom body on a supplied frame, as Rolls Royce and Bentley did back in the day
Those MCLAREN seats were Corvair tested..... Lucky approved! That's gotta be worth an extra 100Hp 🤔
I have a 65 corvair corsa, that i plan on putting it, on a g body frame. 427 sbc and a tkx trans.
Great music sounds like Gojira or Mastadon?
Engine up front? Never mind.
TOOK A CONVERTIBLE MAROON MONZA FLAT 6 N SUPERCHARGED IT, OUTTER FRICKIN SPACE! LATER INSTALLED A ROLL BAR!
Sell it to Matt’s off road. Sick build
@plainsman
Although it was dumpy looking compared to the second generation Corvair, I still miss my '64 turbo that an old lady in a Buick t-boned and totaled.
I kind of wish You kept it as an air cooled mid-engine
put 6 riv-nuts in the right location for the tank
I'm looking for a clean body 66 through 69 hardtop Corvair rust-free hopefully with the glass and the Chrome all looking somewhat decent to put on my S-10 frame with the V8
👍👍👍👍
👍🏼👍🏼
When these cars get totally rebuilt and redesigned like this, does the way the title and registration change? Been wondering this for a awhile
New subscriber what engine is in this corvair? If it turns out like the drawing it's gonna be nice.
Would have been cooler if they kept it rear engine
Are the wheels one off?
They had a brain fart when they welded those brackets, looks like they did it without accounting for the sway bar. It's only a F'up if it can't be fixed.
Corvairs were not mid-engine. They were rear-engine. There was a mid-engine prototype Monza, but this isn't it.
A little disappointed with the front engine setup but it's not my money. I thought you were going to challenge John Reynolds for the title of coolest Corvair.
I thought you actually built a corvair if I don't have a corvair engine it's not a corvair anymore
I have a 1968 Corvair Corsa with 180 horsepower single turbo 4-speed no modifications have been done to it runs starts and drives. I'm tired of these places that have to do so much work to these cars and make them absolutely useless and worthless because you want to modify them so you spin youy tires a very famous car designer and driver said "if you spinin your tires you ain't going fast" that was Carroll Shelby. I'm sorry but it's just too much garbage on on UA-cam about how they have to modify cars to make them go faster
just remember this 1970 Mopar made a car that at Daytona did 203 miles an hour with approximately 500 horsepower on 15-inch rims . the car sold for 4,600 driven by a little known driver named Richard Petty.unlike the new cars that are 90,000 to 100,000 that are only 10 mph faster
You’re entitled to your opinion, my man, but I think what they’re doing is great. It’s just a custom.
This doesn't do it for me. I would have much rather seen them do a flat rear engine like a Subaru or Porsche. I get it the LS is the best thing since sliced bread. i have one in my 65' c 10 it got me everything I wanted on the cheap. but with these big builders, everything is LS swap this LS swap that I want some real original or at least uncommon from these 6 figure high-end builds. heck let's see them do a LS mid-engine (behind the driver seat) Corvair that would be cool.
Anybody seen the movie training day the guy with the glasses looks an sounds like the guy they went to his house staged a shootout an stole his money if you remember the movie you will see what I'm talking about
Should be bad !
