Northern Ireland, Gary's home and the location of the video images, was in the midst of an armed conflict at this time, so no humour was intended in the making of the video.
It's great to see a younger person reacting to some of Gary & Phil's brilliant music. This song was a top 5 hit in the UK in the summer of 1985. It is from Gary's album Run For Cover which came out in September 1985. It's a sobering thought that not long after this was made on January 4th 1986 Phil died aged just 36 as the result of his drug addiction. As others have said this song & video is about a very serious situation, reflect how the troubles in Northern Ireland affected everyone on the Ireland of Ireland North & South & those in GB too without going into things too deeply. Why not check out Gary & Phil doing Don't Believe a Word on The Old Grey Whistle Test in 1978, it is really good. As is pretty much everything they both did. I've had the opportunity to visit both their graves & pay my respects, Phil's near Howth & Gary's at Rottingdean near Brighton. They are both very much missed.
Gary Moore i think has to be my main influence as a guitarist, the feel, the tones, the riffs, its all so incredibly good. sad really that i keep seeing people refer to him as overrated, despite being one of the least mentioned or talked-about virtuosos out there. Ask professionals like John Petrucci and he will tell you Gary was an influence on him, hell Ozzy Osbournes first choice for guitar when he was fired from Sabbath was Gary Moore, though getting a firm "No, I will help you find a guitarist or if you find a guitarist that you want my opinion on I will help you that way". In the end he settled for Randy, who was to be fair a great player himself, but in Ozzy's mind back then it wasn't Gary. i'd recommend listening to Led Clones, where he actually worked with Ozzy sharing lead vocals.
Rock In Peace Gary and Phil.

Both were in Thin Lizzy before this.
Love Gary!!

Gary was a major player for 50 yrs. Made his name with blues but that's the tip of the iceberg. Keep digging.
So so great pair of guitars .... maybe the best for me.
The Synthaxe never took off but it's probably a collectors item now :)
Two great musicians and composers who left too quickly
I f. love the solo in this. They also did a song called "Military Man" which is another banger :)

I love Thin Lizzy . I'll request them in the future.
Ireland forever what great musicians
He is playing a casio synthaxe!
Both were in Thin Lizzy
That’s a Synthaxe. Check out Allan Holdsworth, he used it extensively.
