Valheim Moving Boar Over Water

After a couple failed attempts without a harpoon, I then have success using a harpoon to move the boar between islands. Even then, the boar can jump out and then you have to drag it over the water whereby your stamina will drain. Then you have to stop and hope the boar will come in your direction so you can continue.
