Gee wizz this has changed massively, I first went to this park when I was about 13 or 14 with my family back in the 70's and we had so many cracking holidays back then. I also went to Lyons park which was next door, they had the green chalets, if I remember. We also went to the Golden Sands park as well. Meet some lovely people there mostly where from the Manchester area, Wakefield, Littleborough to name a few. It was always a brilliant two weeks holiday, the weather wasn't great but we still had great fun. I used to sing in the talent competitions, which I had the honour winning a few times. I think the last holiday I had there with my family I was about 17, after that work got in the way and then went on holiday with my pals. Nowadays people go abroad due to the sun and the cheap holidays but I love caravan holidays. The park looks spotless, is it just Caravans or do they allow Motorhomes, as I bought one a few years ago. It would be great to go back but how is Rhyl as a town? The beach is amazing and the walk into Prestatyn was always nice. Thanks for the upload and a wee trip down memory lane. Cheers Gerry
Hi , I’m glad this video has brought back lots of memories for you. Rhyl has changed a lot since the 70s and 80s as a town. That said it still has a wonderful beach and families return year after year. Towyn is where it’s all happening these days. Henllys , Owens and Ty Mawr (Parkdean) are popular tourer and motorhome sites. Check out my other videos on the channel for many other North Wales videos 🏴.
Wow’ How that place has changed, holidayed every September in the late 70’s with parents when I was in my late teens, my Dad loved the place especially the club.
great vid glen use to love playing crazy golf with my nephew use to play on the one on the rhyl seafront started our caravaning days on the lyons camp many years ago dave
Hi Glenn it would be great if you had a drone for a big park like that, i have been to Rhyl a few times and have missed meetings up with you, i will be going back to Rhyl as soon as the weather picks up, so hopefully i will see you then.
Hi Jim , hope you’re well.. yeah maybe one day I’ll have a drone . I don’t spend much time at the bus station to be honest, usually in and out . Hopefully see you soon though Take care 😊👍🏴
I noticed the other day when I visited Towyn that there were quite a few caravan parks that were also owned by Lyons or were called Lyons. I initially thought it was just Lyons Robin Hood, Winkups and a hotel they own, but it seems quite a number of other caravan sites along Towyn road had the Lyons name on it, yet the Robin Hood leaflet I had from staying there didn't mention those other caravan parks except Winkups and the hotel.
Yeah LYONS have bought quite a few parks over the years.A lot of them are only small parks so they don’t really get publicised as much as there flagships such as Robin Hood and Winkups.
When I was at Towyn a few days ago I walked past one caravan site that said it was established in 1920 or 1921, which would make it older than Lyons. I can't remember what the name of this caravan park was but I don't think it was Lyons or Winkups.
Such amazing memories of a family holiday here in the late 80s I’d have been around 8/9 at the time
Love it 😊👍🏴
Loved this place went in the early 80s with my family.
My father in law had a caravan on Lyons 40 years ago, we have wonderful memories of that camp.
Wow , changed a lot over the years 👍🏴

Hi 👋, Hmm wonder which one that was … LYONS was founded in 1924 so yeah whichever one it was , it’s definitely older. 👍😊🏴
@@BusDriverWalking I could be wrong but I'm sure it was in the 1920s
Shall keep my eyes open for it next time I’m in Towyn 👍
Nice one Glenn 👍 👌
There were old single decker buses on Lyons camp in the 50s
Wow really , I didn’t know that 😊👍🏴
Hi can you go on the beach? I'm here now and it seems the beach is not accessible?
Hiya , yeah they have constructed a path to the beach , it’s just by the crossing! 😊👍
Remember it in the 70s, barbed wire around it to keep you in,!!! Always a good punch up at weekends I was told,!!!♥️
Haha , made me laugh that 😆
