Great motors start easy with pull start change plugs annually if you put a lot of hours on it. I start mine every year Duck Hunting when temps are in the teens like 17-19F
Try using a barrel of water sometimes it these engines don’t like muffs or it could be your thermostat stuck closed. I would also disconnect the tell tale and see it you have a blockage there very common
@@shooter3288 it should you may have a blockage in you water tube or buildup in your water passages you can try compressed air while it running into the tale tale hole it may clear it but if not have to clean out water passages

@@haneysgarage2631 yea that tell tale hose is not blocked. Wouldnt the motor still pee even if the thermostat was infact stuck closed

I ran into the same problem when I replaced the pump, turns out I didn't align the tube correctly. You probably have the same problem I did.
Does the motor have to warm up to a certain temp before it starts pumping water or start peeing shortly after first starting it
Usually starts right away and when thermostat opens it starts coming out of the exhaust
Did you convert this Johnson to a tiller handle ?
No it was a tiller when I bought it
