this band had some really underrated material that so many people didn't know about. great heavy songs that felt creative and natural.

No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! I absolutely loved his voice so much and have been hoping he would get back into performing so I'd have the chance to see/meet him some day. How awful.
Unfortunately the last years of his life were spent in a wheelchair making that wish impossible
That sucks. Saw them open up for PanterA on their Reinventing The Steel Tour with Soulfly and Morbid Angel. I pick up a CD at the merch booth after their set. R.I.P and best wishes to his family and friends during this tough time.
I also saw them live on that tour. I was super into them and pretty much went to the concert to see them. I got to meet them before the concert and the whole band autographed a copy of the Violence album. Damn that brings back some memories. Was my first concert and it was great.
For every depressed day, gym session and getting me through high school...Thank you nothingface. Rip mat. You'll always be playing
im bummed...this band was so good, putting out only solid albums, got lumped in the nu metal genre but their music was much more melodic and brutal...def underrated...RIP to an awesome singer!

Nothingface's pacifier album is one of my top 5 favorite albums of all time. The rest of their albums are damn good as well. This is really upsetting to hear about, had no idea Matt was ill. RIP Matt Holt. You were the first vocalist who inspired me to growl \m/

He had a great voice
Matt had so much power behind his screams that seemed like he could do it all day and such an eerily quality in his monotone cleans that was almost Layne Stanley like. Underrated and in my top 10...not just nu metal but all metal vocalist
Nothingface was the best Nu Metal band. Violence is amazing. Pretty sad. RIP.
"The group which also featured HellYeahs Tom Maxwell among other alums" Some "reporters" are either lazy or don't wanna do any research. While Chirs Houck has his own site and is working on various projects, Sickles who played drums on Violence (which shows on the album cover) and the last NF album Skeletons along with the remainder NF days (aside from the small reunion of the originals) is now in a band called Knives Out which put out an album a few years ago and just came out with an one no even a year ago that features Bill Gaal who played bass for every NF album and the ones "unreleased". They have a site even. What's shitty is that it took this long and a major tragedy for them to get any kind of coverage at all except in magazines and word of mouth. While there are tons of bands that sound the same, there are none that compare to Nothingface nor Matt's voice and lyrics. There are lots of live shows on UA-cam but much better if you saw them yourself.

I'm a little late to the party here, but I literally had no idea he died until seeing this video just now. That really sucks. I always loved Nothingface and always held out hope that they would one day reunite with a new albums be tour cycle. This sucks.

I was just thinking about this band, remembering how Holt squandered his abilities as a baseball player abetted by a cocaine habit. I really enjoy(ed) the bulk of there catalogue, that band was a big part of my sound as a drummer in jr. high. I distinctly remember marking out seeing them play at the one and only Tattoo the Earth and again when they opened for Pantera...R.I.P

I was just listening to Sleeper right before I heard of this tragedy, I listen to Nothingface everyday as if they are a dead band like the beetles that will never come back, I have a feeling there is more to this, just beyond saddening, Matt deserved so much more than this, and all of a sudden without anything new or positive to come after the break up of his music work, nobody gave any shit about him especially. I was trying to contact him to see if I could help him out like donation wise and just talk to him. But fate had other plans, it's just cruel. Rest in Peace Matt you did enough now you're in heaven.
