I got to see them at a small venue right before Violence came out. I talked with Matt Holt for nearly 30 minutes before the show. He seemed like such a great, down to earth guy. I tried not to fan boy and thanked him for taking the time and he expressed that he wasn't in a hurry and wanted to continue our conversation. He was as gracious and humble as anyone I've ever met. I talked with everyone in the band, and they were all great, but i was an aspiring vocalist and Matt could tell that it meant a lot to me. Rip, good sir.

Fun Story, Ozzfest with Nothingface, I can attest to Tommy's issue with needles. He was on the tour bus, Burgettstown (Pittsburgh), PA, his tattoo artist was with them. Well, he was getting his sleeve worked on, he asked me to the back and we played tic tac toe on bright yellow sticky notes (I still have them, Tommy signed the one he won. ha ha ha) as he was getting inked. Why was I on the tour bus? I had an interview (freelance writer) with Tom Maxwell. Ended up just spending the rest of the day with them. Good time, great memories.

@@rocktalks5706 I was really surprised at how well they were live. Sometimes studio sound and live performances can go either way. The energy was electric, sounds cliche' but it truly was. I've thought about sharing all my stories or many of the photos and memorabilia I have from those years. Maybe some day, we'll see. Thank you for the interview, I appreciated it. It allowed me to have a moment with my memories.

I'm glad I found this interview. I was lucky enough to see Nothingface in a small venue in Dallas touring with Mudvayne between Violence and Skeletons. Probably the best band I ever saw live. There was a time before Matt's passing that he was on Facebook talking with fans. So sad man they are so underrated. At the Dallas show, in the middle of Blue Skin (my favorite song on that album), somebody in the crowd threw their baseball cap at the stage in the middle of the chorus and Matt caught it and sang into it. It was so well done you would have thought it was rehearsed. It was just one fluid motion. I wasn't but maybe 18 or 19 at the time but I'll never forget it. So awesome.

I really hope Tommy can convince Tom and Bill to release any unreleased completed songs that may exist from the 2005 era. Besides "Let It Burn" and "Walking On Bodies", there's another song that exists called "Pain" with Matt singing that's never been released, only a couple snippets that Jerry leaked. I just think at this point with Matt gone, any completed demo song that has him singing on it should be released so the fans can hear them.

I just watched this video and when Tommy was talking about meeting Shannon Larkin for the first time when he was playing in Godsmack and that Tommy said his first show was with the big crowd with Godsmack and Slipknot actually the band called Amen that first record came out in 1999 and Shannon played drums on that record and tour with them and nothingface was touring for violence opening up for Amen, I went to go see them at Alley Kats in Richmond VA so Shannon didn't join Godsmack until 2002/2003 when Godsmack released faceless. When I was at the Alley Kats show I was hanging out with both nothingface and amen and Tommy had his then girlfriend with him and told her she needed to meet someone which was Shannon Larkin and that was in 2000. Tommy first show and first time meeting Shannon was before the Slipknot and Godsmack show he was talking about. I was on the Nothingface street team so that's how I got to hangout with them alot and I have lots of stories. Last time I talked to Tommy was at a show at the 9:30 club in DC I went to go see Lamb of God and he came up behind me and scared the living shit out of me. He was there to see the show with his girlfriend and this was after Nothingface called it quits. If you ever want more stories hit me up. Love the show and content so keep it up.

Awesome to hear the back story from Tommy. I have been a Nothingface fan since the old days - from early 90s with Dave Gabbard as lead singer. Went to see them an Manny's in Rockville, MD a few times. I really miss Matt Holt. :( Would have been amazing to see how they would have evolved if the band had stayed together. Listen to the music all the time to this day. Its killer, hard hitting, and aggressive music that I appreciate.

Hi Eric. Here's the thing. When you do a zoom call with 3 or more people you only get 40 minutes for free. Since we were 3 guys I knew we had to do this fast and interrup him from time to time in order to cover all the questions (which we did). An interview between 35 and 40 minutes is more than enough considering pretty much everybody just watch between 5 or 10 minutes, according to UA-cam statistics. Thanks for watching!
